We experienced what I consider bait and switch here...
We contacted them a second time after already having viewed the Honda Pilot Touring. The second time we were looking for the upgrade to the Elite. The salesman was very nice, and called to inform us that the Elite had sold but he could show us the Touring again and explained what upgrades we would get with the Elite. We asked them to see what they could do price wise for us with the understanding that the price would be less in the end (cash-wise) because of the $8,000 trade in value of our 2 cars. We were given a price and we thought it was a great deal (and it included an extended 7 year warranty). We were ready to put down a deposit and sign on the dotted line and moments prior to doing so were informed that no, the price we were told actually already included our cars being traded in. The price was just the dollar amount we owed in addition to them taking our trade ins. So there was actually no "deal" they were giving us at all. I could have maybe played this off as being a misunderstanding, but then the following happened as well... (Not to mention they didn't apologize for misunderstanding or communicate they were giving us the price in a way different than what we asked for).
Next, we were told (also moments before wanting to sign the deal) that the price we were given was for just the Touring, not the Elite. I'm not sure how this happened considering we had talked to the manager and the salesman and both confirmed and knew right up until giving us a price that we were talking about the Elite and wanted that. They seemed (I'm assuming) to think the price we were given at Honda in Gurnee (which we fully disclosed to them as we had been in contact with this location initially) was for the Touring when it was actually for the Elite. I could again play this off as a misunderstanding but it just seems to be too many "misunderstandings" at this point and it felt very dishonest and bait and switch last minute, right before we were wanting to sign the deal.
This experience was jarring enough that we were pretty upset and shaken for the rest of the day.
If you want a nice and knowledgeable salesman, go here. The manager, however, was who we worked with for price and the actual car we wanted... Just make sure if you do go here to get everything in writing and don't sign until you know every last detail.
