Love the arcades!!! I wish there were more places like this

Fun place if you enjoy old arcade games and good beer.

The food greatly exceeded my expectations. Beers were solid. Good kids menu options.

Decent house beer, unique pizza offerings (try the crab rangoonie!), and awesome retro arcade games. Try the cheese bread and truffle fries. Great place to take the kids as most games cost $.25

They try to be fancy with their menu. Can't get a regular burger. It's all hipster food. Small portions. Games are cool tho

Great pizzas , nice selection of house brewed and other beers, video games, and pinball. What else do you need?

Burgers and pizza were great. The Valley Winter was a solid craft beer. Had an excellent time and enjoyed the games.

Super nice kind and friendly staff! The place has some great beers to choose from ( highly recommend the Gold Rush German beer) the food is really good as well and of course the arcades! As an old school gamer I felt right at home! If you like games, old school gamer or just want to rest in a place with nice atmosphere or hang out with friends. This place is kids friendly as well as adults friendly so don't worry about bringing your kids here. Fun place!

Had an amazing time at my nephew's birthday party last weekend. The beer was excellent! I really enjoyed every one I tried. My burger and fries were pretty tasty too. And the games were the hit of the party. Will definitely be back!

Food was excellent! A great place to go with either friends or family. Something definitely for everyone! The servers were excellent and really knew their menu options, as well as served us efficiently.

One of our favorite restaurants to visit in the CR area with our family. Great atmosphere, amazing food & beer and an awesome selection of games. The staff is always great with our young children weaving in and out of the crowd to play games. I wish we had one in the Iowa City area.

Visiting on business and found this place close to the downtown venue. Great food, good prices and all the video game nostalgia one person can stand!

I loved most of the food here. But the cheese curds are really unappetizing/ horribly over salted and the ranchish thing they serve with the cheese curds is pretty bad too.

Great food and entertainment! The amount of money you're spending on games will sneak up on you, but fun for the whole family!

Fun place to visit. Very busy on a Saturday night and the servers were attentive, friendly and fast. Food was excellent and they offer a gluten free option for pizza which is a huge plus from me. Games were fun and fairly priced. Loved the pinball machines. Only negative I could think of is that for me, the fries could have used more time in the fryer, but that's a super minor nit pick. Definitely make a visit here if you can.

We we're there from out of town and wanted to do something for the evening. I really love Harry Potter and they are 100% Potter fans like me. Fun place to hangout, be a child again, drink some beer, and eat some grub!

Glad to see Arcade games alive and well. Great place to step back in time. Pizza has a unique taste, worth trying!

Excellent pizza, excellent Oktoberfest brew they've got, and good Atmosphere.

The bartender/owner is a prolific beer enthusiast. He is very friendly, loves to chat about beers, and is extremely knowledgeable.

Pinball + excellent craft beers + attentive helpful staff. My wife and I had a great experience here.

Couldn't get any help. Sat at a table for about 15min and wasnt even looked at by an employee. Wont be going back.

Had the roasted fennel and sausage pizza, it was soooo good! This place is like going back in time lol

My family frequents the Quarter Barrel often. It is by far the most family friendly place in Cedar Rapids. The food is much better than average bar food and the staff is laid back, kind and professional. We love how we can have dinner while the kids run back and forth from the table to the games. Our fav spot for sure.

Didnt try the food because i couldnt get over the fact that it smelled like a highschool locker room. Beer selections were ok.

It was fun and boring at the same time. The game was fun for not for long. If you like to old games or pin ball machines, this is the place to go to. The beer selections however was very good!

Many unique pizza options and they were delicious. Gaming machines are old school arcade games that I loved teaching my kids to play.

Such a great concept! The game selection is great. The food options didnt fit the vibe of the place. It feels like a high end menu in a laid back space. Food was good but seemed a little too "fancy" for the concept of the place. (IMO of course)

Great classic arcades. The food is alright, and they have a great selection of local beers. They could use more tables though. A group of us were having a great time, but we were rushed to leave in order to make room for people waiting.

Was expecting more out of this place. We came for drinks and games after a dinner elsewhere. The beer was decent but nothing special. I was expecting more room and potentially more games. Also wasn't expecting a bunch of kids there, especially at night.

The games and atmosphere are great. If you are a 70's or 80's kid you will step back in time and love it. The beer and drink selection is good. We had pizza and i would put it in the ok category. Still a fun time. We'll go back at some point

Retro ambiance made for a fun work party. Great house beers and awesome pizza. Didn't play as many games as I would have liked but will be back to rectify that.

Fantastic pizza, and a nice atmosphere. The staff are great.

The Veggie Supreme with charred artichokes is fantastic, and that's coming from a meat-lover. The buffalo chicken was also really tasty. Don't let the sweet-potato chips (yes, really) scare you away.

The pizza crust is very nice: thin and chewy, with a bit of char.

This place was hopping when we visited and the vibe was contagious. The games, the movies on the TVs and the music created such a fun ambiance. And the amazing craft beers and gastropub food make this place the perfect family night out. The kids meal even came out on a cafeteria lunch tray! Their attention to detail on even the little things is outstanding. Keep up the great work!

Visited for the first time for a charity event and this place was packed! Pizza was delicious and ambiance was so fun. Definitely will be back to try out the games!

Food was delicious and really fresh/hot, atmosphere was fun, loud and active (not a bad thing) and service was decent. I wish our server was a touch more conversational/enthusiastic about the menu neither here nor there, we will go back! Lots of great food choices and tons of classic arcade games!

Food never came. Place is cool but waited 35 mins for an appetizer and mac n cheese and had to leave. Not many people were there and others that arrived after us were served and eating while we continued to wait.

Wonderful family-friendly spot downtown! We always have so much fun. The kids love the new cafeteria lunch tray kids meals and my husband is a fan of the house beer. I always get the burgers - delicious combinations and the fries are amazing. Come for the food, stay for the games!

I was very impressed!! Great place to take kids to play arcade games...FOR JUST A QUARTER TO PLAY! FRIENDLY STAFF AS WELL!!!

Been to this place quite a few times and though it started out pretty good, it just seems to keep going down hill. The service is bad and extremely slow. We ordered 3 entrees and 2 appetizers (onion rings and fries) and the appetizers were at least 20 minutes behind the entrees and were overdone. They removed the appetizers from the bill but what's the point if this happens every time we go?

Prompt and friendly service. Fun atmosphere for casual hanging out for gaming and Bar foods. Food quality is delicious, the potato soup was very flavorful. Also i had the falafel sliders and they were juicy and delicious!

Great beers. Pizza good but more "normal " pizza for kids would be nice.

Maybe it was an off day for this place but I doubt I will ever bring my family back.

The food quality was below average for what you pay. We had the children's mac and cheese, a burger, appetizer and pizza. Everything was lacking in flavor. The salad veggies were old and dry. The service was bizarre at best. We had three different servers. None of them knew who got what. Food came out randomly.

The kids did have fun playing the games.

Not sure if i have reviewed this location before but it is definitely worth visiting. Awesome Unique Foods you won't find anywhere... Awesome machines THAT ALL WORK. It is a fun place to go, It's clean has great customer service, It's a Fusion of 1980's and 2020 Definitely worth the visit. Kids Will love it.. Parents or adults might even love it more.

So glad there is a family friendly place to take my kids downtown. Would love to see downtown Cedar Rapids truly revived and wih places like this, it s heading in the right direction! Moved here when I was 5 and I still remember when Armstrong s was the place to be and downtown was always lively. Good job, Quarter Barrell!

Missed some of our order and was slow. If your not in a hurry, want to just play the games and drink think it could be a fun place.

We had a good time out here. The beer and food were good my kids had fun playing the games and the waitress was very nice and when they were out of a topping for our pizza she came out right away and asked if there was a different one we wanted. I was a bit nervous about the food and service after reading some reviews but those were from almost a year ago. It seems they ve gotten things together, we will be back again. Thank you!

Seating: long high top tables and regular 4 person tables. Plenty of options.

Bar/Drinks: full bar and craft beer from their Brewery.

Food: Pizzas and pub food

Entertainment: vintage games ( table top, pinball etc) trivia nights are popular

Nice place with various beer and food options. If you are looking for coin games, this is your place. Ample seating place and lots of vegetarian option. Enjoy...

First ever google review: Came from Iowa City as a family of four because we had heard great things about the place. We promised our kids pizza and arcade games. No one else was at hostess stand, or anyone in foyer. After waiting a few minutes, waitress addressed us. She looked at her paper list, which had all the names crossed off and told us it would be a two hour wait(one to tables open still). Shocked, we said ok well we would likely go. She said she understood. We decided to let the kids play a few arcade games before we left. A few minutes later, four adults came and requested a table. The same waitress said it shouldn't be too long but she would check(still same tables open). As she turned from talking with them, I asked what she told them the wait would be. She replied she hasn't said anything yet. She came back and told them hour and a half hesitantly. I asked to speak with manager. Manager claimed waitress was new and it could be due to previous reservations. Waste of our time and will never give them our business or recommendation.

Very fun environment! Menu selection was much more than I expected for an arcade restaurant and the beer was delicious. Service was so friendly too. And they were playing some awesome retro movies while we were there. Can t wait to go back!

One of the best bars I've ever been to! Fantastic food and wonderful service!

This was our first time here and will probably be our last. The food was alright so my review is going to be solely based on service.

The three working spent more time in their corner chatting than helping. We watched customers have to get up and walk to the bar on several occasions to get their drinks, customers walk in and stand there for several minutes until someone addressed them, and very rarely saw them move to go check on people.

Normally I don't like leaving reviews, but the staff could use quite a bit of help.

A little on the pricier side, however they do not have your run of the mill pizza or environment. Worth it

This is my first ever abysmal review, but I am writing this because I wish Quarter Barrel would be better than this. Tonight it took over an hour to be served cheese bread, and then we were told that they were out of an ingredient for our pizza (squash). Our gracious server quickly gave us someone elses pizza that the cooks had messed up for another table and offered us anything else on the menu. We were already in such a hurry that this wasn't a good option either. Tonight the kitchen failed, there were far too few wait staff, and any place that takes an hour to make cheese bread should be called out for it. I have had a similar visit to this in the past and thought maybe it was just an off night, but now I can't say I have confidence that this won't happen again should I return.

Quarter barrel is the perfect spot to spend an afternoon. We had visitors in town with their kiddo and Quarter Barrel kept her entertained with plenty of games to choose from. Although who am I kidding, all the adults were entertained too. They were slinging pizzas that smelled and looked amazing although we didn't try any.
