Best trivia nights in town. They always do a great job! Good pizza and beer too. Only complaint is that it can get a little smoky in there from the oven but at least it smells good from the pizza.

Couldn't give anything lower so HAD to rate 1 star. Walked in had posted sign at podium "Wait To Be Seated" stood and waited close to 5 minutes while employees walked past a few times to 1 of the 4 tables which had someone at. Were finally seated by server who didn't seem happy to help. Given menus and took drink order & just turned to walk away, we stopped to asked for an appetizer as well. Server left we sat & waited again while servers talked and walked around for over 5 minutes again mind you 2 tables left during this time. No server, no drinks, no acknowledgement that we'll be right with. We finally walked out. Most of the time I will give a new place a 2nd chance-not very likely this time.
It was a great atmosphere and food. There were staff arguing about if they were going to serve paying customers right out in front of everyone. They should have taken the argument to the back.
Great local spot! Fun for the entire family -- from my parents to my son. Crab Rangoonies and the Bowser are awesome. And they have the best trivia nights around!
Games are kind of packed in tight and some were not working, it was a weekday so staff was kind of short, I would have liked to see some racing games, not a great kids atmosphere more of a place to get drunk with friends and eat some pizza, which I did not try. Give it a try don't take my word for it on this one.
Went here after Comic Con because of advertised specials on their Facebook page to try it out. Great place to go if you like being ripped off. The FB post clearly stated VIP badge holders (from Comic Con) would get $3 house beers all night. My friend and I both ordered beers from the House Beer list all night and when we got our bills, all the drinks were well over $3. We asked our bartender about it and he said they were discounted and they went back to normal price after 10pm. I showed him the FB post and he asked his manager, who had to call the owner and then told me the beer I drank all night was excluded from that special. I again showed the FB post and nowhere does it say anything is excluded. The manager then told me it was not indicated anywhere other than with the employees. How does that work? The only thing that saved them from a 1-star rating is we met nice people there and the old school games are cool.
This is a great place to go of you are gamer on the 80s. They have the older arcade games like frogger mortal combat, pinballs games. The on tap craft beer selection is awesome and the pizza is great. Perfect place to bring kids and show them your childhood. Priced very reasonable.
I'm not sure I've entirely bought into the idea of a Barcade, but The Quarter Barrel is on the right track to make this a great downtown spot for fun with friends and family. Great beers on tap and the pizza is probably their greatest thing so far. I really dig the blueberry barbeque chicken pizza!
A nice, relaxing environment with friendly staff that are knowledgeable about their beers. I was disappointed that the Simpsons pinball wasn't working, but the Dirty Harry pinball made up for it. :)
I was part of a group of about 30 who had a private party at QB. The service was amazing-very accommodating for our group. They allowed us to bring a cake in- we were celebrating a birthday- and they provided extra plastic ware, which I had overlooked bringing. It could ve been a huge inconvenience for them, but they were just amazing! And the black bean burger was one of the best I ve ever had- I was super excited that a few vegan menu options were available. We will be back!
My goodness, that was good food. Straight DAAAAANK! Porkbelly sliders, house onion rings, and a stout. I challenge you to find a better restaurant in "the Corridor". Very reasonably priced as well. I will, for sure, be coming back.
Have been here several times, usually for work functions. Staff is always very friendly and helpful with beer recommendations. The house beers are some of the best in town. The pizza is delicious. And the arcade games are a happy bonus. I usually give the TMNT machine all my quarters. Good times.
This place is fantastic! The food, the games and excellent staff. The games are reasonably priced and the food quality is great. My only real complaint is the games really need work. The tmnt arcade game screen is way too dark and a certain turtle doesn't work. They should really consider new arcade games and ditch the older unpopular machines for something a bit newer. I understand this can be difficult, but I do feel like it really could elevate the establishment. Please look into some new arcade games. Overall, great place.
Visited for the first time for a charity event and this place was packed! Pizza was delicious and ambiance was so fun. Definitely will be back to try out the games!
Love this place! Food is outstanding with unique flavors and a changing menu. Beers are all unique and good. Old arcade machines very fun to play! I always have a good time going here.
If I come back, it'll be for the gaming... won't be for the food or service. Ordered a salad. Lettuce was brown in spots, and definitely didn't taste anywhere close to fresh. The ranch had the consistency of milk, not creamy at all. Cucumbers were dry and yellow in the middle. My daughter loves cucumbers, 2 bites and done with them. There were other complaints about the food, but I lost my appetite to even try the other trays. The service was less than par. Orders were double ordered, placed at the wrong table, or didn't go through at all. She was very polite and had good customer service. I just don't think the place was prepared for the volume of customers. Didn't want to be THAT GUY.. But this was my family's overall experience. Hopefully the minor tweaks will be made :)
This place is great! I've been to a couple of beercades in Chicago and I would like to see this one do what those do...stop charging for the games.
Focus on beer sales and food and let the old 80s-90s style cabinets be complimentary.
Atmosphere for later at night could be improved, when I was there the arcade area was semi brightly lit over head and didn't give you the feel of being in an old arcade.
1 star deducted for the amount of kids located inside, I thought for certain this was going to be a fun place for adults away from kids, we walked in and there had to be at least 25 kids in our view so we walked back out. Never ate here or received service so I could not deduct more if needed.
Lots of kids. Looking for more of an adult atmosphere. It is a great place to bring your kids. It was a bit crowded to place the games. It was great to see a number of 80's video games!
I give this place 2 stars for the games and fun. The pizza was literally the worst pizza I have ever had. I would take a frozen pizza from Wal-Mart over this garbage.
Great prices, great service, amazing food. Hands down the best pizza ive ever eaten in my life. Cozy atmosphere. And the server Misty was great! Ive only met one other server in cedar rapids that was as friendly or as good at their job. We will be eating there often
My only request- please make signature drinks for the ladies to order. Only a handful of places in town have signature drinks on the menu. It would make quarter barrel my all time fav in town if you did
Variety of arcade games, though a good few of them were out of service. Still had a decent number of classic games. They didnt have a drink menu other than beers on tap. So if you dont like beer, I'd suggest knowing what cocktails/mix drinks you like before hand. Seems to have a nice friendly atmosphere. Staff was welcoming and very knowledgable about the beers they have on hand.
Loved the fact that they have old arcade games in there. My family and I had a blast with the games. I'm not so sure about the food though. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't fantastic either. But would definitely go back for the games.
Pizza was not good, service wasn't very good either. Didn't get refills or get asked how our food was. Left a whole pizza on the table between the two we ordered. The games were a lot of fun though. I would go back, but only for games. We will eat elsewhere.
This is a real old school arcade with a huge selection of games! No place of it's kind around! With the right chef working the food is excellent! There is a good selection of beers also!
Great place! Kid/Family friendly. Retro arcade games & pinball. Food was good, service was good. House beer was good. Had the Recon, Belgian Strong Ale. Our server, Everett ("E") was prompt, and friendly. Crab RanGoonies Pizza is unique, and pretty good. E, also recommended their new salad, it was also very good. Made with Arugula, peppered bacon, almonds, bleu cheese, and port wine pears.
Came here for the first time this week for a work party. Been meaning to check it out for a while. It did not disappoint! First of all, every pizza I tried was excellent. Best crust I ve had in town. And had no idea they make their own beer. Their Oktoberfest is spot on. Didn t play many games as the place was packed but will definitely be back soon to do so.
Tried their brunch for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised! Brunch is sorely needed in Cedar Rapids and their menu is unique and fresh. Brought my daughter and she loved the arcade games! The place was very busy but our server was attentive and friendly. Gets a little loud in there but it is an arcade so I understand. I didn t try the beer but will be back with my husband for an adult date. Fun fun!
If you have any measurable amount of fun in you, you need to come here!! This place is f'n mint. The service here is.... well... the most friendly I have experienced in this area by 10 fold.
Craft beer, classic arcade games. These games cost to play is the same as it was in the 80's and early 90's!! Simply incredible for someone to have a business that serves a purpose in this era.
Their taps are cold, glasses are clean. Food is fast and tasty.
If you don't enjoy this place you simply need to open up and just relax. Life doesn't have to be so linear. Live long and prosper.
I come to the Quarter Barrel very frequently to enjoy the old games and drink brilliantly brewed craft beers. The staff is always kind and accommodating and the food is loaded with top quality ingredients and recipes. If you're looking for a breath of fresh air, while also enjoying something that may remind you of days gone by, this is the place to visit. The clientele is loyal because theres always something fun and new happening. I have to recommend trivia highly. Fun themed-drink ideas are always incorporated and theres something for everyone.
Great atmosphere and food! We had the pork belly sliders and the crab Rangoon pizza- both were excellent in terms of ingredients and presentation, especially for pub fair. Crust was perfect- crunchy and chewy, not too thick. Games and music where a nice touch though I didn't expect there to be kids- I was hoping for more of an adult arcade; luckily there weren't many kids and they didn't stay long.
A variety of games from the eighties and nineties including many functional pinball games. Nintendo Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, Tetris,Tron, Defender, Asteroids, Pac-Man, Ninja Turtles, NBA Jam, Burgertime, Centipede, Zaxxon and many more. Great food with an atmosphere of music that really fits the place, including awesome eighties/nineties rock. The beer sometimes is only $2 a glass for their own brews, and it's great beer. In fact they have a whole wall of different Brews and beers to try. And the final kicker is at the people are super nice. This is a unique experience that I really want to have stay in this town, but we can never predict the future, so make sure you go out there and really try this place out before you miss a piece of the past and present in awesome fusion together. Oh and they're open for lunch too I seen business is out there having pizza it's kind of an awesome way to have a meeting.
