Proto Gallery is Hoboken's premiere contemporary art gallery. This large, sprawling industrial space is a great venue to see quality emerging and mid-career artists in a cool and down to earth environment. Every show I've been to has been curated with fresh and innovative work, on par with the hip and trendy vibes of Mahattan's LES and Brooklyn's Bushwick. A+++
Proto Gallery is an amazing space for solo & group shows in Hoboken, NJ. High ceilings and an open lay out make it easy to feel comfortable at their well attended openings. Shows in 2015 -2016 have been well curated with attention to detail in all of the installation decisions. These factors only help the already stellar cast of artists that have shown there.

PROTO Gallery has been operating for three years in the R. Neumann and Co. leather factory in Hoboken. The gallery's programming is strictly group exhibitions of early and mid-carreer artists from the New York area as well as artists from the greater United States and around the world. The goal of PROTO is to promote serious, professional, contemporary art in Hoboken, to help to raise the profile of the artists shown at the gallery, and of course, to court private collectors. Many of the shows are guest-curated by artists, gallerists, and independent curators. PROTO also participates in top-tier fairs and creates pop-up exhibitions to further the reach of it's curatorial program and promote the artists associated with the gallery.
