I spent 78 days on the extended men's unit at PT in 2013. This was my 4th inpatient treatment, and I was concerned that this would not be any different from the others. Instead, the staff continually challenged me to get past my BS and to really look at what lay behind my addiction to alcohol. Booze was not my problem. Booze is what I used to escape having to deal with my problems. I discovered, and was finally able to discuss, issues that I had with self esteem, self worth, and how I viewed my place in society. I had a childhood trauma that I had never dealt with, that my parents were unaware that I even remembered. With the help of Gracie and her tough, loving, caring staff, I was able to open up about these things to others, and to myself. I have not found it necessary to take a drink in a little over a year, and I credit PT with showing me that I am worth a good, healthy, productive life. There were times when I was not happy with the staff, but I was also not happy with myself. My opinion on both has changed dramatically! I would recommend PT to anyone who is ready to be done with the BS that we put ourselves and our loved ones through. They can help. You just need to get out of the way, and participate. Good luck and God bless!!
