Extremely professional instructors. The kids are completely comfortable and they are not allowed to settle for a mediocre performance. My son has been learning with Coach Heather. She is extremely patient and it's obvious that she loves what she does.

We had a great experience with Swim With Jim this summer and plan to return next summer. My two year old has progressed so much while never leaving her comfort zone. Very thankful for this program!

My son began swim Lessons when he was a year old. Coach Jim and Coach Heather were absolutely amazing with him. The small classes allowed for one on one attention. My son with in the parent and child class. Coach Jim and Heather built a relationship with each child to make them feel comfortable in the water. They also gave the parents tips on how to help the children in the water as well. This was extremely comforting as a parent.

What a waste of money. Signed my now 4 year old daughter up for this class and nothing what I expected. I recorded a little of my daughter s journey for her personal memories. What started out good in the beginning turned out to be the opposite. Mrs. Heather started to single my daughter out on every little thing and praised the caucasian kid. I heard stories from other parents in the community that spoke about this school, but I gave it a chance and highly disappointed. My daughter completed her last day and no completion rewards/appreciation or anything. She didn t tell us that we could sign my daughter up for the next sessions. I had to find out through an email from Jim that there was more classes. I was told that she could come back next summer, obviously she didn t want me to sign my daughter up for further classes. Some of the same stuff she singled Aaliyah out for, she didn t do that to the caucasian child. Also, I researched how children sometimes when not being engaged equally as other children tend to wonder off in their own world during such classes. After every class she would reward the caucasian child with taking her foams out her swimmer and didn t do it for Aaliyah. She didn t recommend further lessons and just sent my daughter off. Where s the swim lessons??????? When did they learn to swim ??????? Where are more lessons? IS IT BECAUSE WE RE BLACK???? We have plenty of money too and deserve to be treated like your caucasian customers. I emailed Jim about this issue, he danced around my questions and ignored me. I settled for this unknown company when YMCA classes were full. I guess they want only caucasian children to succeed in learning to swim.

We love Coach Jim! Our 16 month old made huge improvements in just a few lessons. Coach Jim has a great style of teaching and takes time to develop a relationship with each student. We will definitely continue lessons in the spring!

My oldest who is soon to turn six had swim lessons with Coach Jim last night. She has taken lessons in the past with his other staff, but Coach Jim is so wonderful. She is usually shy, but his dynamic personality kept her attention, and she was not hesitant at all. Actually she was smiling the whole time. He had control of the class and they were moving the entire time. He is able to positively correct technique keeping your child focused and motivated. Wonderful experience.

My 5-year old son, had his first lesson with Coach Jim this week. It was amazing! Coach Jim very quickly assessed his comfort level and abilities and started moving.him forward . The kids giggled and had a blast while learning a great life skill. According to son,, Tuesdays is now his favortie day of the week because he has swim lessons on Tuesdays. He also says he loves swimming more than soccer, which is pretty major! Thanks Coach Jim!

If you are looking for the best swimming lessons i...

If you are looking for the best swimming lessons in Columbia, then The Swimming Lessons Company is it. My daughter has been swimming with the company for over 7 years and still enjoys every class.

They guarantee every class has no more than four kids per instructor, so you get excellent swimming instruction. Unlike other swimming lessons like the YMCA where there might be a dozen kids per instructor.

Coach Jim is excellent with kids and makes learning to swim fun. He even offers a swim team during the summer at the PAC by lake murray dam. His swim team is great for building swimming confidence and endurance with his positive coaching abilities.

Our first season with The Swim Lessons Company was great. The instructor we had, Coach Johnny, was great with our son. The following season, Coach Johnny wasn't available so we signed up for a class with Coach Jim. He's the owner so we expected great things. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. Although a small class size, Coach Jim never had control of the kids. Many times he was running behind so our class would start late. At the end of the season, we didn't feel like our son was any better off than where he started - and he was one of the ones in the class who actually listened. To be a good swim teacher, you have to be able to wrangle kids also and keep their attention. Coach Jim really needed to have another teacher in the pool with him to assist. Additionally, Coach Jim had shoulder surgery mid-season and continued to "attempt" to teach classes, not offering any kind of a refund. Those classes were even worse. Lastly, many times we found Coach Jim to be quite unprofessional. I would definitely look at somewhere else for future swim seasons.

Jim has been teaching our daughter to swim for almost two years now. His program is far better than the YMCA where she used to take lessons. He's very good with the kids, keeps them focused and learning all while having fun. We get feedback on her progress and will continue to keep her with the program and coach she loves. Would highly recommend to anyone seeking swim lessons for their kids.

My daughter has been attending lessons with The Swim Lessons Company for the past few years. She loves going there, and I have seen her swimming greatly improve.

We have tried other swim lesson companies and even private lessons that were much closer to home, but she always enjoys more and does better with Coach Jim. I only wish they did lessons in the Chapin or Irmo areas.

Our 4 year old and 18-month old were in lessons this summer with Coach Heather and we couldn't be happier with both their progress! Especially for our 4 year old - last summer we tried a different lesson program and it was a total bust (lots of tears, frustration from both my kid and the college aged instructor who clearly had not worked with toddlers before). So this year we enrolled in Swim Lessons with Coach Heather. She did a phenomenal job of wrangling all three boys in his class, keeping them motivated and offering frequent praise and encouragement. She gained the trust of my shy and sometimes stubborn 4-year old within 2 lessons, and had him comfortably putting his face in the water and swimming confidently within the first month. And this was a kid who always wanted to wear a puddle jumper and hold a pool noodle, usually stayed on the steps in the pool, and NEVER would put his face or head in the water! 8 weeks later, he is comfortably "swimming" around our pool with just a thin layer of floatation. We will definitely be back next summer!

My three year old has been taking lessons for 2 months now with Coach Jim. She loves the class and has progressed quickly. I'm impressed with his techniques of incorporating stories and play into the instruction. I've also had Coach Heather for 1 make-up class. I would definitely recommend them!

Being 1st time parents are stressful enough so you can only imagine what 1st time swim lessons are. Coach Jim and his techniques are amazing. Not only did he put us as parents at ease, but made swimming fun for our son where our son looked forward to swimming each week. I recommend The Swim Lessons Company to any parent and child, ESPECIALLY 1st time parents taking lessons for the 1st time

While Heather and Jim are nice people, they seem to be overwhelmed with the work they take on. It's just the two of them teaching the classes and when it came time for my child to progress to the next level, all the classes were full!!! So my child was unable to attend. There were aspects of the company that I found to be unprofessional, such as Heather verbally promising to do something that affected my child's registration, and then not delivering on her promise. Now that our session is over, which is ending prior to the date they originally stated, I will not be returning to this company and will go elsewhere instead.
