Good food and decent beer (brewed onsite) with retro farming decorative style around the place. Good for groups, nice and cosy. With views of the brewing machinery from the table and many other interesting things to look at while enjoying what they have to offer. Only big issue is that it is expensive for both food and drinks, especially the food since you get small portions of food for the amount you pay, so I'd recommend eating somewhere else before or after.

God I love this place, If you're in the Adelaide hills for a beer its a must visit. Beer is beyond great and staff are even better. Food is also top notch wood oven pizza that is as good as it gets.
I'm usually very impressed with this place. The beers are awesome and the atmosphere is great and very chilled. What was a massive let down was the food. The beef curry was great (cept it had mushrooms) but had to give half of it to my girlfriend cause her schnitzel burger was terrible. All you could taste was oil that needed to be changed and sauce that was far too sweet. My nephew had a kids meal so small he almost cried. Maybe 10 tiny pieces of popcorn chicken and a half filled tiny bowl of chips. The biggest let down though was the garlic bread. 9 dollars for 4 bite size pieces of bread which all you could taste was the parsley sucks that I ordered 3 of them. Would have got the wings as per usual bit they were sold out. Kids hotdogs were ok though. I'll get beer here but wont be eating here again
Food was great and the ambience matches the Prancing Pony Brewery. And of course the kidneys are excellent! I think there is something for every taste. For me full 5 stars
The beers good, but not as good as they think that they are. The drink prices are horribly overpriced for what they are. I won't be in a hurry to buy any morefor the price.
Great atmosphere, great food and most importantly, great beer!! Such a fun place to spend the afternoon. Worth a visit. Hope to come do the tour sometime this summer.
Always great beer, really nice place and very friendly staff. Each night they have something different they present at a discount, with a happy hour (and a half) Wednesday to Friday Food is always good and well priced for what you get for food and for their huge range of beers.. Awesome place and I will be coming here for a long time
Great venue for groups. Had a birthday get together for 16 people. The crew were so friendly and accommodating! The pizza and chicken wings were a huge hit! Great choice of alcohol not just beer but The Summer Paddle was my favourite. And when it was time to bring out the cake... the staff made sure the entire venue joined us in wishing the birthday boy all the best. Thanks Prancing Pony for a great day. #supportyourlocal
Top shelf beer, all food especially the nachos amazing, staff always awesome. A gem and the MUSIC is eerily awesome.. don't know whose on the decks, but wow.
I enjoy the atmosphere, the open space, the service, and beer especially Amber Ale very much whenever I go. You can try a beer tasting there and enjoy the different types of delicious beer. By the end of the tasting, you will find your favourite. I also liked food not just beer. and the staff are always helpful and kind.
Great food and the tasting paddles give a great chance to try the beers. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly efficient staff. Highly recommend for a great time out
Concentrating on their dark beers I was able to sample the range and then have a butcher of the one i liked. The Magic Carpet Midnight Ale was amazingly smooth and rich, the black ale was more hoppy, perfect for a black n tan. The Sunshine Ale is ale is always a winner. Was nice and warm inside and a good range of home cooked pizzas. Have a fire pit and a welcoming outside area. Gin and cocktail options for those not interested in beer.
Awesome microbrewery with a great selection of beers located on the outskirts of Hahndorf, easy access to Adelaide .(i would recommend a designated driver or Uber in order to take the opportunity to sample all of the world-class brews) At least 14 choices of on-tap full flavored ales and stouts. Helpful staff and tasty snacks. I was delighted to learn that the Pony is available in Melbourne. Cheers
Dude, It s so good fantastic local Adelaide brewery who have really put SA craft beer industry on the map! Making a range of fantastic beers with something for everyone! Not to worry if beers not your thing great food, local ciders and wines are also available.
Very pretty Brewery, with many of the eponymous ponies! The rather unusual for German Beer tasting came with a lot of effort and evaluation card. We liked the style and the beer alike.
My wife and I came in for lunch today. A friendly female staff member recommended a popular pulled meat dish served on a bed of chips for $16.50 so we ordered one each. What is the chef thinking. Worst meal out ever!! An intense over flavoured, rich, greasy concoction of slop that you wouldn't feed to a pig! Absolutely vial and a complete waste of money. Ate a few chips and left hungry. Beer is good, food is crap.
Great Father's Day family dinner, great friendly team, beers yummy, great burgers and pizzas. Extra special thanks for the cheese only pizza for my autistic son, he gave two thumbs up.
Fabulous atmosphere, great service and staff, live music was great too! We were 1/2 hour early for our booking - no problem! Beers and tasting platters good, cider was yummy !!
The staff were friendly and helpful, the beers are great and the pizzas are absolutely delicious. The prices were very reasonable, and all set in a nice atmosphere. Already looking forward to my next visit
Brad's birthday beer party continues.... dad's are more fun with beer.... Love the atmosphere, love the games, the staff and beers BUT Unfortunately, the burgers were really, umm.. ordinary. we've had other food in the past, but today the burgers were really over toasted and the best way to describe it would be bland. It needs either a softer roll or stronger flavoured condiment. All you can taste is the neverending toast...... Advice - try a platter instead, you'll thank me later
A beautiful venue. Would be a great wedding reception location (if food service could be improved). My partner loved the cider/beer.
However, on the night we had dinner here, we didn't have a great experience. Firstly, our friends came as part of a car club. They had shared platters, but only 3 platters were put on their 5 tables rather than all tables (and they were told "to steal some from the others" by staff). Later the kitchen eventually brought out another platter when a car club member complained but only after he was told "that they didn't pay enough for each table to have a platter".
When it came to our food, as we hadn't ordered as part of the car club, we had good main meals. But our dessert pizza didn't come out, my partner had gone to the cashier and was told it was accidentally forgotten and would be out soon, it again didn't come out so my partner went back to the cashier. We were told that the dessert pizza was accidentally given to someone else and that they are now "sold out" of dessert pizzas, instead they will make us nutella donuts. My partner of course agreed - he loves nutella. Then again the nutella donuts didn't come out, my partner went back to the cashier to be told that the kitchen was now closed and they couldn't help us. They did in the end provide us with "money off" our cider that we were buying. But all in all the dining experience was lost for us.
On the same night, our son was riding on one of the few rocking horses they have in the dining area. These are very cute, however, one of them is quite unstable and numerous times kids had fallen off or tipped from rocking on the horse. One of those kids was my 3yo son. He was rocking on the horse when suddenly it tipped, hit his head on the concrete floor and he got stuck underneath it. Luckily, he was okay and we were able to take him for a walk outside to console him. The whole place heard it and looked, some even came up to ask if he was okay, whereas the staff didn't seem concerned and watched from a distance.
The atmosphere and style of the dining would of been amazing if it wasn't for the repeated mistakes, and the unfortunate rocking horse.
Great atmosphere, delicious snacks and unique brews. Highly recommend Prancing Pony! Lots of space for groups & a great beer garden area. Lots of tasty options for non beer drinkers too.
Fantastic. I love the vibe. The staff is accommodating and friendly. And the beer is excellent. Solid core range with about a dozen seasonals and one-offs. The food range is typical pub fare, but very well done.
How disappointing. This is twice that I have visited Prancing Pony after checking their opening hours online only to arrive to find them closed to the public. Surely a business abides by its advertised opening hours? Last night I was ushered off the premises very promptly on arriving , by a staff member who said it was closed due to a board meeting. Other customers were also arriving looking very bewildered by the unannounced closure as well, with no signage or indication of this outside.
One has to ask the question why would a board meeting be held during advertised opening hours I asked the staff member? He said he was not informed either and that if the Prancing Pony was not going to be open it usually placed this information on their facebook page. Great!!! Now I see what I did wrong earlier in the year when the same thing happened to me. Now as a potential customer I not only have to check the opening hours on your website, but also your facebook page!!! Really? Has your business grown this much that you can afford to offend potential long term, repeat customers?
. Personally, I am not happy with the way your business treats potential customers by closures during prescribed official opening hours and my business will go to many other worthy Adelaide Hills craft beer and eating venues that do not make up their opening hours as they please at the inconvenience of customers. Very nice feed and I know my hubby loved the craft beers. They have a couple of nice touches inside like the ride on horses for kids and the comfy couches to lounge on and play board games.
Amazing place to eat and drink. Grab a tasting paddle and figure out what you like. I take any visitors we have out here if they want to get lunch or dinner and aren't from the hills or even from SA
Awesome beers, friendly owners. I was on a caravan road trip from Perth to Sydney, and since we were staying at the Mt Barker Tourist Park I thought I'd drop in to taste some of the locally made brews. Boy was I in for a treat! Their pale ale is best beer I have ever tried, full of flavor and aroma. The indian red was also fantastic if you prefer a stronger full bodied beer. The brewery is set in an industrial-commercial area so there's no outlook or scenery from the bar, but at the previous review states, the beers more than make up for it.
Excellent place if you love beer, although their lunchtime menu is very limited to burgers and some kind of dips. Best to go in the evening if wanting a wider array of meal choices.
Great addition to the hills! I'm not much of a beer drinker but came here twice with a group of mates and enjoyed it. The indoor and outdoor seating is nice and the food is great. It's pretty cool to be ale to see into the brewing area right from the tables.
Been there a few times, usually great but this time very disappointed. Wife wanted cake, waitress recommended carrot cake. Cake was old & tasted extremely dry, in fact, it was not edible. Sent it back & was told that it was the last from an old batch. Promptly apologised & gave another from a fresh batch, which was in the same cabinet.
At $9.50 for a piece of cake, we should never had been given the old slice to begin with. The waitress knew it was an old piece, but rather than toss it out, gives it to customer, hoping nothing would be said. Proves $9.50 was more important than keeping a customer.
We asked for schooners got pints. Our entrees got put on the wrong table then they came to give it to us and we said we want it replaced. There was only 2 tables of diners. Wings were dry and there was so much salt on the chips and popcorn chicken. The onion rings were supposed to be served with aioli and came out with chutney. Very disappointed especially since it was our first time dining out in months.wont be back.
