My elderly father, who is in terrible pain (currently on morphine) due to metastatic cancer and fractured vertebrae has been treated very unfairly by the staff at Portico (Walthamstow). They are trying to charge him an additional large fee, which he was not in anyway advised about, or expecting. In fact, Portico misled him into using them to collect rent by saying that he wouldn't get the rent guarantee without allowing them to collect the rent directly. This is the first time he has used a letting agent to collect rent, and i think the letting agent manipulated him into this.

They even phoned him whilst he was extremely ill in hospital and were very rude to him, despite the fact that I know my father to be a very gentle and kind person at all times. I've no doubt my parents will take the appropriate legal action and overcome this matter, but this profiteering behaviour is wholly unacceptable, especially to a family and a man coping with such a terrible illness.

I rented a property from Portico. We had major works that were required in the property one month after moving in. Portico failed massively in this regard and we were left to foot an emergency plumber bill that took months to get back from the Landlord. We were left without any running water for half a week and no hot water for two months and no rent compensation was offered. Now almost after a month my tenancy has ended and we haven't had our deposit back and no advises as to when we will get this back. Would recommend. strongly avoid this company at all costs.

Really tired of renting from yet another incompete...

Really tired of renting from yet another incompetent letting agency. We had a flat without properly maintained piping and when one of this pipes sprang a leak it (we were in a first floor flat on a high street) it totally destroyed someones business below us.

3. We are still waiting for our deposit and we moved out more than a month ago. I am just angry at this point. You can't treat people like this in the middle of the pandemic. We desperately need the money and we are still waiting. You have conducted the checkout, we have paid our rent on time every month and apart from the above having to chase YOU have been good tenants throughout our 18 months.

My question now is this: What is your problem? It isn't hard to conduct these administrative tasks - in fact arranging all of this takes mere minutes. Judging from other reviews, the landlords you serve aren't huge fans either. If I was them or a tenant, I would avoid the stress of this agency it just isn't worth it, how this business functions I simply do not understand.

if i could give them negative 5000 stars i would, not even exaggerating. these people wasted my time and money - its been 1 month and they still havnt given my deposit - the charged me 2 and a half months of rent, and i found out this is illegal in london, they are allowed to charge 1 month or so. - not to mention, i had the apartment professionally cleaned and they just happened to "FEEL" like it wasnt clean ennough and charged me another 150pounds for another cleaning - they are unprofessional theives. i'd rather be homeless then do any sort of busniess venture with these sick people again

This review reflects (lack of) management of the lease and rental income and rental increase process and communication. Hands down the most incompetent, unprofessional organisation I have ever come across in my dealings as a Landlord. Incapable of managing tenants and the renewal process and simple rent increases.

They are a liability.
