This local theatre is far and away the best in the area! We ve had so many lovely nights at Porthouse enjoying the talented professionals and students from Kent state. They seem to cover it all, lively singing and dancing and social issues that are brought to the front of peoples minds that may not be confronted otherwise.Do yourself a favor and visit Porthouse and see how seamless the stage management is! You won t go home dissatisfied I promise you !Consider picnicking before for a real treat,it s the cherry on top of a memorable evening!

Nice intimate covered open air theater on the grounds of Blossom Music Center. Excellent quality performances that include professionals as well as student actors. Cost of show and concessions are very reasonable and you can also picnic on the grounds before the show. A great venue that is a hidden jewel of this area.

Porthouse has been part of our summer routine for about 15 years. The plays are always well done and the setting is wonderful. One thing to check before you go is the Blossom schedule as it might impact your choice of when to attend.

Fantastic local theater. Broadway quality. This is a covered outdoor theater. Come early and bring a picnic. Then stay for a wonderful and entertaining show. Great as a date night or fun with the family.

This theater is a bit of magic nestled into the woodlands on the grounds of Blossom Music Center.

The summertime shows feature both local actors and students actors from Kent State University. Over the years we have seen many talented actors perform at Porthouse, and many if them have gone on to perform on Broadway.

The theater is outdoors and is covered. In case of rain, large curtains are drawn around the back of the theater to keep patrons dry and comfortable. The staff are friendly and work diligently to ensure patrons enjoy the show.

The pavilion area has picnic tables that can be reserved. The highlights of our visit include eating a picnic dinner with a bottle of BYOB wine and buying a souvenir blinky light!

Am season subscriber. Loved your choices this '14 season; however the beating scene done by Bill in Oliver was totally in bad taste. I realize the importance of the scene but believe it should not be done "front and center" with young children IN the show and also VIEWING the show. I had intended to bring my two grandchildren but am ever so glad I didn't. I think the same incident could've been done in a manner more appropriate to family viewing. It was such an ugly scene -

Small theatre with auditorium seating that puts you close with a great view of the whole stage. The performers are highly talented with a lot of heart. It was quite humid on my last attendance but that didn't prevent the performers from acting, dancing and singing with everything they had. Bravo!

Disappointing I'm afraid. I saw Tintypes which was a review of music from the turn of the last century performed by five players on a nearly bare stage. The singing with the exception of one young lady was uninspired. I have seen high school productions that were better. And of course the blue haired audience gave it a standing ovation??????
