Very dated exhibits. If you are expecting to see the latest technologies this is NOT the place to go.
Very dated exhibits. If you are expecting to see the latest technologies this is NOT the place to go.
Wouldn t recommend to spend your time and money. If you want to escape heat and put your tired feet to super tiring go here.
Nothing for kids to do.
Total disappointment under the name of MIT
Even it s super boaring for Engineers
If you want to see the roots of some of the early Boston Dynamics technologies this is the place you'll find them!
This stop was a major letdown. Nothing new, exhibits feel like old washed up actors whose fame has faded into a tired past. Certainly this can't be the premiere show case of where MIT has been and where it will go!
Not a big museum but its packed with MIT achievements and their involvement in military advancements. Lots robots and rocket displays including one on high speed photography. Upstairs is an exhibit on MIT HACKING. There are a few hands on More
This is a fun little museum. There are a lot of rotating exhibits, so check the website to see what's there now. Admission is free one Sunday of the month, so look out for that as well.
My favorite thing here is the kinetic sculptures, which may be the only permanent exhibit they have. I could watch these things for hours, they're so creative and clever.
I'm saying four stars only because the museum is quite small and unless you're very interested in one of the temporary exhibits, it might feel like ten bucks is asking too much. Still, it's supporting MIT and the research and education that has made so much of modern life possible, so it's hard to feel bad about that.
I'd say you could properly see the whole museum in about an hour to 90 minutes depending on how fast you read and what's on display.
This was a great place to take the kids (8-13 yrs) biggest problem was I wanted more. There were several great exhibits, however we got to the end and I felt like "this is it?" The moving art was something I would go back for though.
It was interesting and fun. Although it is museum so do not expect to see the newest technology here. All exhibits are old. It would be nice to show at such place some cutting edge stuff.
Interesting to visit at least once - few interesting robots and graduation work of most talented students of MIT. Can be free for those who are using Bank of America for first full weekend of every month
Great place if you want to buy cool puzzles and science stuff
Holography exhibit closed. Still paid full price admission. Ok - but not worth the entry fee for paying adult.
Here , you will find different exhibitions for engineers projects.
It was alright. Not expensive but pretty light on exhibits - you can get through pretty quickly and they do have some cool things in gift shop but I'm not going to lie, we were a little disappointed. I guess our expectations were too high.
Loved this museum, it's like the science museum but for adults. I learned so much and it's all presented so well. I especially loved the perpetual motion machines on the second floor!
Great place, will take 45mins to an hour max so it's not really big. Large area dedicated to Herreshroff and his sail boat plans and there is one lovely section which has mechanical interactive exhibits by Arthur Ganson. Polaroid exhibition opens in October 19.
Nice museum it is a great place for kids under 10 years. A little disappointing for adults. it has a great gift shop.
Unexpectedly small place, went for the holography collection and it wasn't even being exhibited. It's ok for the $5 entry, no more.
Fantastically, well done exhibits but the hologram portion seemed a bit small.
Love this place! Tons of tech. I was there for the MIT Hyperloop unveiling
Fascinating to see all the work put into things that make our every day life easier
It's nice but there's really no way to clearly understand where to go and what to see.
The engine operated sculptures are really interesting.
Not to mention those who like mechanical engineering, there are many interesting exhibits that anyone can enjoy. You can see everything in about 30-40 minutes.
The museum shop also sells a lot of interesting things, and you can enjoy it just by looking at it!
Cool museum, so many mechanisms and the most important question - why is this?)))
Disappointed with the exhibits. I mean, isn't MIT supposed to be at the cutting edge of technology in this country? Sadly, most everything was cutting edge in the 70's or 80's, nothing spectacular on display now.
Very nice little museum with some cool exhibits. Price was pretty cheap since we had some students (they give discounts).
Don't miss out on the Ploraid exhibition (first floor)
Awesome place! I really enjoyed it and I got inspired from it.
Smaller museum, focused on technology and art, and their connections to MIT. The museum is certainly worth visiting, if you have an interest in the topics, but an admission of $10 makes revisiting hard to justify.
You can enjoy various things such as standing wave displays and gear-mounted toys.
Really great mechanical sculpture exhibit when we went!
Paid 10 dollars too much. Better to see the Munich Museum. Joke ... the exhibition.
Great museum with great information and interesting exhibits
Bit small. Was a nice collection on boat design. More art than an exhibition of technology. Was expecting to learn a bit more
Very cool place. You only need about 2-3 hours to check it out. Parking is the real challenge.
There was a special free event tonight and j was fortunate to go to it by happenstance.
It's worth going just to see the kinetic artworks. They are absolutely amazing and totally hypnotic.
I was rather disappointed with this museum. I was expecting more informational displays of the past achievements by MIT (you get a little bit of that) but, instead, you will see mechanical sculptures, some architectural drawings, and robotic projects of graduate students from the 90's. It's not that those are interesting but not worth seeing with the admission fees.
I really like the fancy mechanical art works there.
Great exhibits, particularly the mechanical contraptions. They also hold many events in the museum pretty cool.
Z best:)
Get the free pass with your student pass, or visit on free day.
Wish it were bigger, maybe all floors, including basement in the future.
The front desk was a little agresive when I was asking questions but otherwise everything was nice!
It's pretty small, with only two floors, and there's exhibits on technology from 2001 that clearly should be updated. Most of the museum kind of feels like an afterthought.
An impressive science museum. Not too big but has a lot of interesting exhibitions.
Relatively small place. The first floor could have more modern discoveries or designs. Second floor dynamic devices are cool. Class room was cool for my kids
Although it looks really small, but there is actually lots to learn. I had a really really great time there.
I enjoyed the visit. Great way to spend time looking at technology.
Very small, nothing intersting unless u are intrested in some boat architecture or ur a neorologist. Would not recommend it to a tourism.
Very fun place and so educational. Loved the intricate art gallery of the perpetual motion machines. It was amazing. Gift shop was pretty pricey though but I think that goes with any museum type place.
Fun small museum. The museum shop is pretty cool! The hologram guide explained to us how holograms work which made it special :)
Incredible inventions in exhibition and history of his inventions, reason for his world renown.
Learnt the history of robotics and about how big data is changing how we do things. Great place!
Facinating and Inspiring!
Our favorites were the robot and visual exhibts! Wish we had more time for the brain exhibit, but passing through we only had an hour and a half. Give yourself at least two hours for a quick walk through, four if you want time to examine and read everything, five if you want to watch all the mini movies, as well.
Awesome, gift shop for all ages, (we could've spent and hour in there, alone). Great teacher aides and STEM summer projects!
Teachers and Homeschoolers will love all the inspiration, challenges and developmental STEM Ed. We left completely inspired!
-Great museum for a day in Boston
-10$ General Admission
-5$ Student Admission
-Includes robotics, art, holograms and more.
-Procedes help benefit Massachusetts Institute of Technology
can be visited and is very interesting and free for children from 8 years
Pretty good overall. I think the current exhibits on ship building and architecture are not what most people would be expecting at MIT. The various robotics demonstrations saved this from a 3 star (or less) review.
Very fun Museum.and.great acrivities. Definitely a must-go in Boston.
