Plymouth Pavilions Review

Seen a Tribute act of Tina Turner on Saturday 8th February. That was brilliant. The Pavillions only open their doors one hour before the show starts, and allow you 2 take yr seats approx 30 minutes before the show actually gets started. Because the seating is tiered behind the stall seating area in front of the stage. There is no real designated dance area as such. For when people got up 2 dance. They simply obscured the act for those who were sitting down. The ushers attempted to move the dancers to the far side away from those seated customers on the first rows of the tiered seating.In truth this was totally disorganised by the Pavillion staff to control. They had no idea about how to actually partioning a dance area off, and which didn't obscure the views of seated customers. The staff organisation to better organise this SIMPLE task was well below par. Everything else about the Pavillions was good. Top Tip. Get yrself a high tier seat. You'll have an in obstructed view from there. Still good for acts though.

Good facilities if a little dated, the chairs aren't brilliantly comfortable and prices at the concession stand boarder on extortionate. The staff are polite and friendly.

Providing a chair is apparently a logistical hurdle too far for at least one member of staff. if you haven't arranged it beforehand. Disability friendly ... but only if you have a visible disability or ... and I quote ... "crutches, a wheelchair and book in advance." Not impressed.

Would have given 4 stars if it wasn't for the security guy telling me I couldn't bring in my bag the had my works uniform in, I had done a full day at work and was going with my Nan to see 80s Mania straight after but he wouldn't even here me out. Yes I know its his job but still all it was work clothes.

Went to see a band, was able to see & hear the band....all expectations met. Job done !

To be honest. Other than the concerts, I'm not sure what else you can do here now. Used to be an adventure swimming pool with flumes and ice rink when it first opened.

Great atmosphere but parking alittle pricey as it's council run.

The prices here have gotten so overpriced, avoid peak times unless you want to ice skate at a snails pace

I went to Lee Evans in 2008 and also I go here to Ice skate with friends every now and then. Its fine

I've been saying the same thing for almost 15 years - it has so much potential to be an amazing venue but the sound quality is shocking. Its a sports hall and when you put loud music in it, its as awful as it sounds.

Brilliant seating arrangements for basket ball match. Clean and well organised.

They get some really great comedians and bands here as it's one of the only venues of a decent size around. If you are standing at a gig then no problem, but if its all seated the seats used on the stalls are really uncomfortable. If you want a more comfy bum then sit further back above ground level.

Great for concerts, shows and all forms of entertainment with also ice skating within the complex.

Main hall for comedian.
Bar and toilet facilities.
Disabled access.
Only downside... Seats were very uncomfortable.

Saw Rick Astley (he's matured and now brilliant by the way). Plenty of car parks in the area, decent bar, seating ok but generally very good.

Good venue for comedians, even though the queue was long because of the time we arrived I was surprised by the speed of which we still got in the door.

Great place to go staff are very good but the seating is very uncomfortable needs to be replaced

Ice skating. Fantastic to do and to just sit and watch with a coffee

Raiders basketball game at Pavilions. Beautiful!!!

Staff are very helpful, always lots to see and do here however queuing for certain events can be long.

Quality of sound poor too much echo. Noisy inconsiderate women talked through supporting act. Boyzlife were good fun when we could hear them

Great venue for live music - been a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Great show shame the car park has only one archaic mashine that only takes coin no phone apps or telephone opinions just a big que of people the pavilions you could walk in no problem

As a family we visit the Pavilions 4 or 5 times a year to watch the Plymouth Raiders basketball team. The venue is ok but the main hall feels like it could do with some updating. It has all the facilities you might exoect at a venue like this so you can get food, drink and have access to toilets etc.

We saw Sarah Millican and she was brilliant her support act was very dodgy very bad line in comedy she thought that bullying and long-term illness was funny...

Could work on getting queues through the doors quicker on freezing cold nights! Once inside the space is good but the removable seating used on the floor is not the most comfortable.

This place sucks! As a music venue it is appalling. The sound system is terrible, couldn't hardly hear a word Adam Ant was singing.

This venue holds the larger concerts that come to plymouth. It has a large stage to one side of a sports court the building is very multifunctional but isn't really the best at anything.

Had tickets for Brit Floyd, but couldn't get there like many others because of snow, but show went ahead anyway. No offer of refund for those who couldn't make it (considering the exceptional circumstances), no insurance offered and poor customer service.

Just saw the prodigy last wkend there and have to say it's a very run down and codentaion running down the walls. The sound system was bad. I feel they would be better knocking it down or build a new place. Will not be going back. Was amazing to hear everyone say the prodigy snatched it and then say how bad the place was and sound.

More crowd control necessary during intervals. Impossible to exit theatre for over 10 minutes. Crowded and disorganised. Nearly opened the fire escape! Shocking.

Great theatre to be able to see and hear what's going on. Only problem was the seats were very uncomfortable.

Limited range of drinks at the bar staff too rushed to give good service no eye contact all a bit impersonal

A dishonest organisation, like the rest of the entertainment industry with rip off tickets...and extras.
I feel sure these organisations would be fine with the same add ons when they do their weekly shopping...

Decent multipurpose arena that can attract some higher calibre acts

Never been for live music or comedians but I've been for ice skating. They give you a lot of time to skate with just one price

Loved the Tim Minchin gig, staged well, sound good, food very poor, range of cider good.

Went to see a comedy gig. The chairs were incredibly uncomfortable and felt like medieval torture devices. Spoilt it a bit.

Good venue for concerts. Seating is getting a little tired but you need to find parking off site.

In seat row KK.. a little far back but with the rake you can see everything and the sound was fantastic

Difficult to park. There are no tables and chairs in the bar area so we didn't bother with a drink before going into watch the show. On the plus side staff were friendly and helpful and there are plenty of toilets.

Best big venue in Plymouth good concerts. Nice garden surroundings well maintained by 5 Star Property Services.

Seating could do with an overhaul but staff great and at least we get some great bands down in this part of the world

They try hard. Drinks on the pricey side for what it is

Parking is a bit of a pain (I resorted to Theatre Royal carpark and yomped in the rain to the venue). There was a pretty long queue waiting to get into the Pavilions and the same at the bar. Not enough staff serving probably.

First visit to the pavilions. Impressed by the size of the venue. Had a great view of stage even from the side where we were standing. Great central location so easy to get to.

One of the worst gig venues going, always been a detriment to plymouth that this is the best space we can offer a band, sound quality is atrocious and ruins any gig, large bands very rarely come back to Plymouth and I can't help but think this is part of the reason.

Auditorium is chilly. Good evening watching Aled Jones and Russell Watson.

Would never ever go to Plymouth pavilions again. Security people on the door are way to strict. They are very aggressive & like bully's.

I have only ever used the Plymouth pavilions for the ice skating rink so far and I have never had a bad experience. The ice rink is a decent size, well maintained and easy to access.

Went ice skating. Was keen on the public ice skates. Nice sized ice rink though.

Good venue, easy access. Plenty of parking nearby.
