What a cute place!! Had a wonderful day on the private beach and loved the great parking and cute room. Can't wait to come back.
The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the view was wonderful. The hotel was utterly disappointing, especially considering the ridiculous price. Sand and dirt covered the rugs throughout the hotel, a stained mattress was left folded in the hallway all weekend, and hairs were all over the shower and bedspread when we arrived. The room was TINY for over 700$ for two nights- NO amenities to speak of. No coffee station because of covid, no coffee makers in the room, no breakfast served at all. The restaurant was priced like upscale dining- and the quality was mediocre at best. The pictures online look nothing at all like the actual hotel or rooms. After all of this, we see on our credit card that we were charged an additional 60$ "destination" fee?! Are you joking?! Don't waste your money- the only thing you are paying for is the view- and you can get that MUCH cheaper elsewhere for much better quality.
Great atmosphere, beautiful surroundings accommodating facility, right on the beach.
I showed up with no reservation and much in need of a few days respite. In spite of the fact that they were basically completely booked for ocean front or ocean view, they hustled housekeeping to open a room for me. Incredibly friendly and accommodating front desk. Clean basic rooms with mini fridge/freezer. You don't need more with the ocean 20 yards away. Will totally come back.
Our first time here and everything went smoothly... if you can, reserve and Ocean View room on the third floor... It gets you away from the people on the beach and you can listen to the waves crash against the shore as your lullaby to fall asleep... Only drawback was, there are no elevators... They do have a busboy that works for tips...
I booked a room here for two nights that cost us $1, 000. Went to go get into my bed and saw spots of blood stained on the sheets and comforter. Honestly absolutely disgusting.
Good location. Pool was dirty. Over priced for condition of rooms and hotel in general. I guess they are relying on the location to justify rates. Too much smoking going on in the back by the beach area. For those of us who don't smoke, it kind of ruins the atmosphere when enjoying a drink and an ocean view. Not good for kids either.
For sure the saving grace here is the restaurant. Very friendly staff and the food was surprisingly good. Very respectable Italian food at dinner. Would definitely recommend that you eat here even if you don't stay here.
We will not be returning to this hotel.the customer service is lacking, the rooms are too small, and our patio was furnished but was only large enough to accompany the furniture it housed- literally we had to remove a small table just to be able to get onto the patio. We tried to keep the mood light as it was one of the few nights away from the kids and we are pretty low maintenance as it is but the staff is rude and seems irritated. I would recommend hospitality training for the wait staff and front desk staff -it's lacking in a BIG way. I give them one star, only for the Inn's undeserving pleasant view.
Very nice. A little expensive but expected this time of year.
Great hotel! Clean and neat. The people that works there are super nice and sweet. The only problem at this place is that you don't want to leave the room because is so cozy!!!! The place to stay!!!!
Great location. Rooms not perfect and could use some updating.
They claim The Pleasant View Inn is the Marilyn Monroe of hotels....very popular in the 1950's and died in the 1960's. Seriously, my wife and I needed a short 'close to home' vacation and the PV Inn was on the beach. We paid over $300 per night for three nights. For reference, the Sandals Pineapple Bay Resort in Antigua goes for $491 a night. I understand that Rhode Island is not Antigua, but the entire hotel badly needs a full renovation. The carpet needed replacing, the stains on the walls in the bathroom were disheartening and the drywall patching looked as if it was done to hide mold around the windows and air-conditioning. I understand we are all making the best of covid, but the food and service at the Inn's restaurant did not measure up to the $84 bill for dinner with my wife. If you ONLY want to be right on the beach and do not expect anything modern or fancy, stay here.
The restaurant was fantastic. I had a vegetarian omelette that was very good and they have great rye bread! (Weird note but it's true.)
But the room itself? Not great. The bathroom door wouldn't close or lock. The lock on the front door itself always got stuck and made it hard to open it. And the hallways were way too narrow to bring stuff up and down. It was a mediocre experience tempered by some great food (which is an extra cost, of course) and friendly wait staff.
Breakfast was good if somewhat over priced. The eggs were bland, and service was kind of slow. We had to wave someone down for refills and it took several mimutes to even get their attention.
I went there a year ago and the food wasn't great but this time I got the shrimp linguini and it was very good. Only complaint was one person I went with got a pizza and it was the size of a slice but apparently still good. I wish they just advertised it as small.
1st of all this is a Non Smoking Establishment which is fine..
Told no smoking anywhere on property which they do not tell you until in room, but have different rules for different people, after being reprimanded by snotty manager, witnessed people smoking at pool...
Tried to use heat in room and set off fire alarm..
Bathroom sink was nasty, and peeling chipped paint on door
...
Stated it was recently remodeled???
Pool waz nicely heated, but dirty..
Only upside, Ocean view and very nice Bed...
Not recommended for the price you pay....
Right on the beach. Amazing views. Clean rooms and friendly staff.
You are paying hundreds of dollars for a motel room, dirty shower, people above us were throwing food over balcony. Our towels were left on seats outside to dry and I went to get them one was gone and the other was drenched in beer. We reported these issues to management and their resolution <br/>Was to give a 90$ credit! This was the worse stay of my life. The beds are made of rocks and the people staying above us are savages. We will not be returning... Shame on the management of the PV inn for doing nothing to rectify these issues.. stay away!
Well I do a lot of work for this company and they are very friendly and a pleasure to work with
Had dinner at the restaurant. Great food and dessert.
Our first time staying at the Pleasant View. First the positive - love the location and our first floor ocean front room was ready when we arrived at 3 and it was neat and clean with a nice balcony. The pool was clean and area seemed well maintained. Ate dinner there the first night- staff was friendly and food was good. The lobby overlooking the pool area was a nice place to relax. Coffee and ice water always were available in the lobby and the 4 o clock cookies were delicious. Now for the negative, and the reason we will never go back! My husband has limited mobility and had difficulty managing the many stairs wherever you go in the hotel, from the entranceway, to the pool, and to the beach. Also, the tub had a strange rounded configuration on the bottom and was very slippery, and there was no towel or grab bar in the shower/tub. No efforts were made to make the hotel handicap accessible, which made us curious about ADA compliance in the state of Rhode Island. Sad.
Stayed here past few yrs, always in Aug, 1st time not too happy. Room was very small tight squeeze for king bed in there & balcony chairs & table too big, no room to move. Couldnt get in to our room till 4:30pm! Got key card, brought up belongings only to find maid still cleaning our room. Cleaning staff was apologetic & helpful. Bathroom very tiny needs updating no room for toiletries. Restaurant pricey but food good. Bar staff very friendly! Some issues w/ noise last few nights people next to us very loud into 2am, hotel staff didn't seem to care. Not sure if will stay here again, if do won't stay full week or on weekends. Views are great but too pricey!
After staying here four nights last week I feel I have to give the Pleasant View Inn my highest recommendation. Wife and I were made to feel very comfortable . The location is excellent, well enough away from the more rowdy section of the area. And above all, we found the restaurant to be exceptional -- no need, really, to look elsewhere for dining while staying at the Inn. The service was fantastic in every way. Breakfasts were especially enjoyable in the spacious dining room. Evening meals could not have been better.
After our three nights in a lovely room overlooking the ocean, we decided to try to stay for another night, but our room was booked. We took another room "inside", without a window. We knew what we were getting, but I wouldn't want to spend any more time there than we did.
In all, we definitely plan to stay at the Inn again next year.
The location is incredible!! Walk across a tiny street and your on the beach !! Walk a few steps to restaurants, stores, and a few blocks away from entertainment. It s a no frills hotel, but very clean and quiet. The staff is personable, respectful, and helpful. They hire their own security to walk around the property to ensure safety for your property and self. I had a one bedroom place that was very spacious. This place is an excellent deal for your dollar. It is family owned and operated. The owner cares about her patrons and it shows. She is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.I will definitely be back to vacation at this place.
Very mediocre fare, especially for the price. Not a good value. Service was good. Tiny piece of salmon with very undercooked rice. Strangest individual pizzas on brittle, square dough with very little cheese and ingredients. Tiniest mussels you ever saw but in a tasty tomato broth. Three fish tacos for $19 with no sides at all, not even a vegetable. They were good but not that filling. Might be better value if, at price, not everything was a la carte. Clam chowder was good. So was lobster roll. Needs improvement.
We look forward to having lunch at the Pleasant View when ever we are in the area. The service is usually slightly sub par, but the food will make up for it. Not today. The service was so bad we were prompting the wait staff as to what they should do next. The clams and oysters were warm. The staff is just not managed. For the price, I expect much better. Last time we visit.
The restaurant was busy so we did not stay for our meal
very nice hotel with a beach. went in 2017. i personally dont remember the service, but the place is great
This hotel used to be great but has really gone downhill. The staff weren't very helpful or friendly. The room which we requested months earlier was loud and over dining room with outside dining till late hours. The bathrooms aren't monitored nor are the refreshments which we pay for in a daily resort fee and is up for anyone coming in from cottages and public beach. The beach has gotten really crowded with pedestrian traffic getting dropped off and coming on beach in front of resort. What used to be a peaceful, clean, quiet resort is now busy, dirty and crowded. It needs be monitored to have paying guests be the ones having access to beach and amenities to be able to still call themselves a resort.
You can't beat the view on the ocean side. Just incredible. The surf was so loud. & beautiful. We slept like babies. & the bed was really really comfortable. For $250. A night. Think you'd get alil more in your room. Like coffee & tea for the morning. A microwave, A phone, a clock radio w the time on it, & a booklet w things to do in the area restaurants etc. & Wi-Fi wouldn't connect first few times. Then it did. Just things to think about. We like coffee & tea in the morning! Continental breakfast would make this place the best!!!!
Small rooms but convenient location on the beach. Food was excellent. Convenient coffee in lobby in the mornring
We love it here, even before the remodel (high our room was lovely). It really lives up to its name the view is awesome! They have seats on the cliff, private beach, coffee 24/7 w real cream and as laid back as U like.
We look forward to our stay here, always.
Rooms are very small, smaller than advertised. Great location, nice amenities. Satisfactory service. Pricey $$$, poor value.
Food and service excellent, eating dinner with Ocean view.
This place is a mess. It desperately needs to be remodeled, as it smells of mold. Reminds me of my grandmother's musty basement. Yes, it's right on the water, but it's so far from everything. You have to drive 20-30 mins to find anywhere to eat. It's in a residential area so it's kind of depressing. There are no elevators so if you have issues with stairs you'd need a ground floor room, but then you lose the view. When we went the restaurant was closed for the year. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else. The view was nice, but I just could not sleep in that musty room that didn't lock. It felt as if I had stepped into a bad time warp.
Had oceanfront room off season. It was very nice. Not many people there and the beach is beautiful.
This was our first long weekend away in quite a while and I was worried we would be disappointed, but it was wonderful!! To sit on your personal deck overlooking the ocean was great. The room was nice and clean the AC very quiet as was the hotel in general. If you are looking a nice quiet weekend or vacation this is the place. We will be booking a longer stay next year, in the mean time I watch the live web cam as much as I can. Nice place, good job Pleasant View Inn staff!!
Great place to stay.. great food.. very clean great staff too
The only realistic description from the website is the ocean view ... all else was very disappointing ... from the musty smell, to the bugs in the room which by the way had very poor wifi connection to the filthy, stained rug. I could go on, but will stop here ... you get the picture. I must say, after checking out the very next morning, the staff did the right thing, and refunded our 2 remaining nights.
First off location is the best having said that this Inn is poorly managed upon chking in we were given no details about the place or how to use the beach next door that's private! After lugging all my families stuff from the front door to our room I see a back parking lot that was alot easier to acess our room! which I was not given any insight on how to get too. Staff was not freindly keep saying hi/hello most ignored me. The food had the price of a high end but the quality of a cafeteria at best. Just because its convenient doesn't warrant the high price! Change your management I'll be back if not ( one & done).
Beautiful waterfront Hotel with 5 Star service and excellent food presentation. Beach is a stroll away or poolside if preferred. A must return for Vacationers
First impression on the third year visit. House keeping was on the stairs when we were trying to bring our luggage in, they never moved until I mentioned it. The smaller rooms are better maintained than the more costly oceanfront rooms. If they can take care of the front lobby ceilings then why can't the individual rooms be cared for. I was disappointed. The price for the meals in the in house restaurant were super inflated. Oh yeah, the Inn only owns the beach directly in front of its property, so ask for the pink pass or be prepared to get bullied by a thick neanderthal without manners. The Inn never mentions this upfront. Check in at 3pm check out at 12. Something is so wrong about this. When did a microwave stop being an amenity? Bring a bottle warmer for your baby. My goodness they are scared you might feed yourself. Poor babies.
I've stayed at various hotels/inns/motels in the Westerly area and I think, so far, this has been my best experience. The staff are nice, accommodating and pleasant, and the hotel itself is very clean.
Nice staff. Easy check in and check out. Clean. Loved the view. Great stay
Great experience here. The room overlooked the ocean and the rear door went right out to the beach. I would definitely recommend it.
A very nice, clean room. Pleasingly decorated. Easy access to load and unload. I would stay there again and recommend this hotel for people visiting Westerly, Rhode Island. A very nice restaurant and a great gift shop.
Stayed at most in the area this place is the best great prices and huge lobster rolls
Very clean, quiet and relaxing. All of the staff were so friendly.
Not pleased at all paid good money , it was clean but the room we got stuck in was the size of a closet no coffee maker no microwave when we told there would be won't stay here again
This place is nothing more than a money grab. Our room was so small you couldn't walk around the side of the bed to get in it and the balcony barely large enough to sit on. The service and food were marginal at best and they charged my credit card $50 after my departure for an "unreturned beach pass" when no on ever asked for it when i left despite my personally returning the room keys and paying my balance in full. Do not stay in this bust out place, you will be nothing but disappointed
Very cute beach hotel. It is nice to have a pool outside for after the beach. The restaurant was great for lunch. The rooms are cute.
Location and views are amazing. Food & service were good
Great place!!! CLEAN and the room was a double. 2 beds that were extremely comfortable!! Right on the beach!!
We love this places location. It has a great pool. Right on the beach. Great views. Their prices are way too high for a 3 star hotel, but we get why they think they can get it at the pandemic time. And probably do get it. Hopefully post pandemic the price comes back down to meet 3 star pricing. $350 is Omnia and Hyatt pricing. This is neither. I'll give 5 stars when pricing fits what you receive but the location and the hotel look wonderful.
Room was great, view was nice, and private parking/beach access was AMAZING on a busy day. Only complainants are very thin walls and a door that got stuck when closing it.
While going to the beach we were looking for a place to have breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised by the Pleasant View Inn. The Crustacean's lobster was fresh and plentiful. That is the advantage of having a restaurant seaside in Rhode Island. The view was amazing. Overall we felt we found a diamond in the rough and will be returning again.
Great staff, the redhead was extremely kind and helpful
Had a nice dinner right on the Atlantic. Wonderful service.
Pleasant staff. Lodging is a bit sparse, but nice. Could use chair to sit on in the room for comfort. Beautiful location, great views. Pleasant dining area. Room maintainance is a bit lacking. Will bring to attention of staff
I have always thought PV House was a great family place with clean rooms and good food. Great for a weekend mini vacation with a beautiful view of the ocean.
Facility is outdated. The pool wasnt in service which was a bummer because we booked this property for a pool because we have 2 small children, would have been nice to have been notified at booking. Our room was clean bit the rest of the hotel was not. We saw a lot of garbage outside and in the game room.
The unprecedented Pleasant View Inn. Charm and beauty and spectacular Oceanfront all in one.
A great getaway right in the beach. Affordable and clean!
The only great thing about our stay here was the excellent housekeepers. They kept the room looking great. Front desk was incredibly rude. General attitude seemed like they didnt want to be there. When I went to checkout I stood at the counter waiting for someone for at least 10 minutes while they were in back room talking. Wont be staying again.
Balcony was really small but we did not get a room for our balcony. Others we need much larger. Hotel bar awesome private beach very nice. Parking was rough.
im confused how are there bad reviews, I had a great stay here the location is great, the pool is heated, and its on the beach
Me and the Mrs spent our 20th Anniversary at the Pleasant View and will be looking forward to our 25th next month.
I would like to give a very special Thanks to the Ali for accommodating us .The place has everything and it's convenient. We had a wonderful time.
We look forward to our stay here always.
