A Calgary institution, the milkshakes are the best in the city, the burgers and buns are always fresh, the staff are great at meeting the customers demands which goes a long way for picky folks. Thanks Peter's.

Fun, family and really decent milkshakes..can't beat this place for sunny day visit. Corvettes, station wagons, convertibles, motorcycles & vintage cars. All ages and stages. Try the onion rings. Large portions are generous enough for sharing.

Very disappointed, used to be a killer fast food joint back in the day. Since the new owners the fries are frozen and over cooked. No flavour to the special sauce . Hot dogs look like they were cooked 2 days ago and the milk shakes are nothing great.
Will not be back, don t jack your prices and then cut quality.

Since my teenage years, I have been told Peters' Drive-In is the place to go when passing through Calgary. It's not. Well, if you're impressed by a couple of flavorless hamburger patties smothered in condiments (heaviest on the relish), by all means, this really *is* the place to go. Seriously, in my opinion, even Burger King and I don't like Burger King is a better choice than Peters' Drive-In. At least once a decade, I seem to forget I wasn't impressed the last time(s) so I either decide to give it another try or I'm travelling with someone who convinces me to go. This time, the guy doing the convincing was equally unimpressed, seemingly realizing he'd fallen for the hype and deceived himself for five plus decades. Hopefully, having written this review will help me to avoid repeating this mistake. ... For those who think I've missed something, no, the milkshakes are not worth the hype either.

Excellent milk shakes, huge orders of fries. If you are looking for a hamburger you better like BBQ sauce as the burgers come absolutely covered in the stuff so much that you will likely get some on your clothes. The buns become a soggy mess.

We have been going to Peter's for nearly 40 years but tonight was our last time of going there. We were so disappointed in the quality of the food. The fries were worse than a bag of cheap frozen ones. I could make better my self from that same bag. The burgers were nothing but a bit of onion and two very thin patties. We have noticed that the quality has gone down over the last few years but thought we would give them a try as it is a tradition we go in around this time of year but never again. Thanks goes to Gus Peters for lots of good memories but no more.

Just moved to Calgary, so I thought I'd give Peter's a try since everyone raved about it.
Everything tasted fine, but wasn't anything special. I was grossed out by how big the portions were.
I ordered a single burger (where they accidentally gave me a double), onion rings, and a coke.
I threw probably half of it away because there was so much.

Anyway, later that evening, I was sicker than a dog, throwing up the whole night.
The only other thing I had was a coffee after I ate there, so I'm sure it must of been bad meat from the burger.

If I ever go again (not by my own choice) I will only get a milkshake

Not a legend.. not even sure what the other reviewers are thinking.

Yes there is some nostalgia factor - I'll be the first to admit that. Peters is a long held Calgary establishment. The kicker is that, in 2005, the place was bought by a new owner and the quality plummeted. As much as it pains me to say it, it is now one of the absolute worst burgers in the city. The patties are overcooked and spongy, soggy buns, sloppy sauce, overall bad tasting. The fries are bland and greasy. The onion rings are soggy. It just isn't the place it used to be.

As for the shakes.. I think they are still one of the better milkshakes in the city IF ultra-thick is your preference. Just don't get the burger.. and don't believe the hype. It's all nostalgia that is no longer substantiated by any quality. And it really sucks to say that.

I love Peter's. Is it the best food ever? No. But does that matter? I don't think so. The food still tastes great, it's all large portions, easy enough to share. The milkshakes are probably the best part. Sure, everyone has milkshakes, but few places have such a massive selection to choose from, not to mention being able to get 3 all together in an interesting combo for the same price as a regular milkshake. Definitely recommend it, great place for kids or in the summer as well.

Tasty

We were frequent customers of Peter's, getting their family fries with gravy and shakes as a family treat at least once a fortnite. One evening after lining up for 30min we were informed they are out of family fries... Wanting to know more detail, I asked to speak to the manager, who said they are out of containers (not actual fries) so they cannot serve family fries. Also, suggested to purchase 6 portions of small fries (I don't think I have to calculate the cost of that) - like they couldn't just put the family size fries in a different container...
It was busy that night so they tried to get rid of me asap, asking the next person in line for their order while I was still there - very disrespectful.

After all the years leaving them business I unfortunately discovered they don't care about your custom or loyalty, money is all they care about. Never went there since...

Apparently I am late to the party of getting hooked on Peter's Drive-In burger, hotdog and milkshake. It's definitely a must visit if you're in Calgary either on vacation or you've live here. Make sure you try the Peters special sauce on your orders also. The prices are pocket friendly for what you get in delicious meals. It's primarily a drive-in but a parking lot beside it has benches to sit and enjoy your bites if that's what you want. Pls note the wait times could be a few minutes due to the traffic it attract, especially on weekends. Cheers!

Not entirely sure why people like this place other than it's been there for years... the burgers suck... they're the most processed burger ever and it's never changed since I was a kid... oh wait... they got more expensive. Yes you can get a variety of good shakes. But the drive in is not the nostalgic drive ins of the past....
