Provided very good food, and a nice lounge area. Large human sized chess board was really fun! Very large area for not many people made it feel kind of strange though.

The event was full of people and the food and drinks were ample. The staff in the restaurant seemed overwhelmed, but the overall experience was pleasant.
Food was good. Misty the waitress was pretty bad. No drink refills, only saw her twice. The soft drink was flat and it took 20 minutes to get a water from her. There were only about 15 people in there. Not happy with the service at all.
Quaint and rustic, a nice place for some peace and quiet near the bluffs and the river.
Lodge is pretty nice looking. We ate here and the food wasn't very good. Probably wouldn't eat here again.
Visited the lodge several times. The lobby is amazing to sit in and relax. We were in the restaurant for lunch on a weekday. Very few customers this time of year. Service was pleasant, food good although limited in choices at lunch, priced reasonable considering the setting, table clothes on tables, lots of windows. We sat by a window that had a humming bird feeder just outside. Birds were ever present. If you want a quiet lunch in a great setting, take the time to go here. If you are in a big hurry, maybe this isn't the place for you, but then it you request quick service, I bet they try to accommodate your desires. Update: I lowered my rating because of our last visit. Call ahead just to make sure you either have a reservation or they have space available. In the Fall, they can get real busy on weekends because of all the people out to look at Fall colors.
I visited the park for my first time this past weekend. I had a great time with friends taking in the beautiful sights! The trails in the park are gorgeous and I've heard the fried chicken in the lodge is delicious! I'll definitely be back
Easter buffet is a family tradition. Beautiful lodge is spacious and great for large families and kids. Pricey, but worth it.
Took a ride along the River Road to the Lodge for lunch with friends. Food was okay, nothing special. Have heard that their Fried Chicken is really good though. It's served family style.
The Lodge is really nice with some great views. Be sure to take the scenic drive after you eat!
We were visiting the lodge and it was very nice. The service was great, the workers were very nice and helpful. The place was very clean and well kept
I love peer Marquette it is awesome we saw a lot of raccoons who where in the trash can!
Beautiful lodge and area. The cabins could use some updates but they were comfortable.
My wife and I stopped in for lunch. The service, food, serving size and every aspect of our visit was phenomenal.
We just went for a hike and loved it. A little bummed the visitors center was closed on presidents day when many people were off and visited.
Great space for family gatherings and wonderful food options!
We had a phenomenal experience with the restaurant. They had a fantastic vegan Burger and cheese (I assume the Impossible Burger) served with extra crispy sweet potato fries that almost melted in my mouth. On top of that, the waiter was friendly and professional. Great visit!
Rooms were clean, staff was very nice and accommodating. Food was good.. Not five star, but tasty. Scenery was beautiful. Enjoyed my stay very much.
Love the stone work, massive timbers, and iron chandeliers. Not to mention the fried chicken at the restaurant. Great trails up on the bluffs too. Rooms are decent, but it's the architecture, food, surrounding wooded area and view of the river that makes this one of my favorite places.
Had a great breakfast at the Lodge this morning. Great staff and server.
We rented a cottage/cabin. It was xozy and comfortable. Definitely going back!
Beautiful lodge connected to a state park. Lodge has restaurant, winery, sitting area with games. Very beautiful for a romantic or family getaway.
Excellent room. Only criticism was the temperature wasn't easy to regulate. Stayed too warm all night.
We just went to take pictures . Absolutely beautiful.
Dinner was great. Chairs are too cushy in the dining room though.
No phone signal within 10 minutes of the lodge and the waitresses never brought out water refills.
Lovely setting. Helped that the weather was spectacular. Some cobwebs and dust but adds to the charm and history in some ways.
This is a beautiful state park that has a wonderful option to lodge and/or eat at the wonderful restaurant. The inside of the main building is rustic and has an enormous chess board and fireplace. It is a perfect place to cozy up on a cool fall day. The food is tasty and their fried chicken is delicious. You ll love the menu because it includes plenty of options for your vegetarian, vegan and GF friends. Be sure to check out the forest and trails.
It was a nice lodge with lots of activities, including huge chess, decent hiking trails, shuffleboard.
We had our parents 70th wedding anniversary here because it was the place they had their honeymoon so it was quite special for them. Colleen, the event coordinator, was so great to work with and the staff that day was terrific and helpful. The food was wonderful! Couldn't have asked for a better place to have a memorable day for mom and dad. Thanks to all!
Very nice place. Clean and comfortable rooms. Food was good. Fried chicken was excellent. We shall return
Beautiful place, rustic, and peaceful. It's five minutes from downtown Grafton. The service is great in the hotel but food service is 'OK'. Some of the servers can be rude. The rooms are clean, nice, and spacious. Would defiantly come back.
The lodge itself is beautiful and the park is also beautiful. The food at the restaurant is a little overpriced for what it is, but is passable.
The rooms were wonderful and the lodge atmosphere was great. The only thing I would add would be fire pits outside and mosquito lamps.
Location by the water. Lots of good food minutes away.
Service at the restaurant was good. Service was ok.
I was at the lodge for a conference. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The food was good and the rooms were clean. Gorgeous building and such a great view of the river
Cute and quiet cabins, friendly staff, and the perfect place to stop if you're looking to do some hiking! The trails at Pere Marquette vary in difficulty so there's something for everyone and plenty of views along the way!
Every year my family travels to Pere Marquette Lodge for dinner to celebrate a relatives birthday, and each time the experience is the same : delecious food, fantastic service and a gorgeous location. The lodge itself is a beautiful rustic facility, offering a fantastic view of the Mississippi River. The whole experience was wonderful.
Had a problem with our shower, they moved us to a new room. Great service!
Beautiful atmosphere. Great staff. The food is really good. Lots of stuff to do and enjoy. Highly recommend
I enjoyed the indoor pool and spa, the room was great a little cold at night but over all it deserves a 5 star!
Food was sensational. Had ribeye the first night - one of the best I've ever had. Had fried chicken at wedding reception - flawlessly cooked. And the employees were courteous, unflappable with the snow storm, helpful and friendly.
Very majestic lodge experience with good food and breathtaking views.
The lodge has a lot of history and is built in a very nice style.
Fantastic place! Great food and awesome atmosphere. Went for a social event at the park and stayed for lunch. Highly recommend!
Looking at it for a wedding reception venue. Nice place, lots of ammenities, nice rooma and cabins
We went to the bird showing. It was cool, parking filled fast and the lady was late so we started late. It was packed so we had to sit all the way in the back but she was exciting, full of energy and the room was buzzing.
It was actually closed as it was a Sunday when I went. I went over there to visit with family and go on the trails. We went on a short trail with the nephews and had a good time. Would like to go back sans nephews and try out some of the longer trails
Hot tub broken . Fire place broken . 20 dollar room reimbursement .food is okay . Pretty grounds . Reasonable price . Might stay again if I didn't care to swim .
Excellent facility! Easy access to great hiking, staff was friendly. Very good restaurant on site, as well as a winery! Would recommend to friends, and will make it a future destination spot.
The rooms were very clean and service was great. The front desk staff was friendly. The food we ate at the lodge was enjoyable as well. I would definitely recommend this lodge to anyone looking for a place to be outdoors along the river. The grounds were clean and as always, the hiking trails were superb!
Past experience for brunch has been very good. This visit for dinner was sub par compared to past experiences...hey everyone has a bad day. Food was warm, meat was dry, salad came after entree. In their defence, they did have a large crowd. Will return...
Was there for dinner with friends. The food seemed slightly over priced for what you got, but what I did get tasted good. The service was okay, but not great. The waiter may have been busy with other tables though and not able to focus on us. I would go again if friends insisted, but I don't see myself going there for dinner of my own accord. The grounds and facilities were beautiful though.
When you first pull in, the area is breathtaking with beautiful landscaping . The cottages and lodge are invitingly lovely. The lodge had a warm welcoming feeling. There was a wedding being prepared for and the decorations were amazing. We ate at the lodge and our eyes were constantly looking at our surroundings. There were hummingbirds flying by our Windows. The food was wonderful and the help were great. We want to come back and spend a night there.
Beautiful and peaceful area. Had lunch at the restaurant in the lodge. I wasn't real happy with my cold tuna melt, but my husband liked his pot roast.
We stayed in a room overlooking the pool. Which turned out to be a terribly noisy area. Food at the lodge was very bland and overpriced. The room was clean, and everything worked, but overall the experience was very neutral
Great food and great service. they have very good fried chicken.
Breakfast buffet for mother's day. We had 26 people, and the place was packed. It was a little chaotic at first, getting drinks and such, but the food was amazing. The roast beef and omelette stations were pretty amazing. The room we were in was ridiculous hot but we were in and out in about an hour, so it wasn't too bad.
It was a very nice place. The food was great and the service was very professional.
We were there for dinner, and I was pleased that they'd added a modest buffet for $10. It didn't include much, but was priced right for the offering. Our family members who ordered off the menu had to wait a very long time, but liked their meals anyway.
Always pleased with our stay. Good hospitality and good restaurant.
The food the lodge is delicious and they offer excellent wine choices. I do not understand why they don't upgrade their wireless internet. It was difficult to look up local restaurant and shops. Over all our is a great place!
Overall, the experience was mediocre. Very beautiful location and main conference center and nice service people, but there is absolutely no cell service for any of the top 4 providers, there was no refrigerator in the cabin room, and the Wi-Fi was subpar. There was no Ethernet port in the room and there were only 2 Kierig coffees available for a room of 5. It would have been nice to know beforehand that housekeeping doesn't provide new sheets or make the bed if any personal items (clothes, headphones, charger, etc) are left on the bed. There are 2 rooms per cabin joined by back-to-back, lockable, privacy doors, which was fine, but we could hear everything in the adjoining room...everything. Water pressure was nice. Cabin room parking was excellent. I wasn't fond of being charged for a 5% tourism tax on top of the 6% sales tax per room per night.
The pool area was phenomenal. Best one we have seen in a long time. Cafeteria buffet for dinner and breakfast was really good. The staff and lodge were very friendly. We spent a great deal of time in the great room in front of the fire place. Thanks for making it a nice anniversary get away.
Beautiful Park and facility. Operated by Best Western chain and it shows. The restaurant was out of several menu items for all venues. The winery/bar wasn t opened on a Wednesday evening For some unknown reason, according to the front desk. The cabin/cottage we stayed in was less than charming on the inside with cleanliness at minimal effort. I have stayed there for several years and the State of Illinois could do much better in selecting a hotel management group.
Lunch is good chicken is good little pricey for fried chicken especially if you want all white meat
I live in St. Louis and I brought my grandmother to Pere Marquette for a Birthday lunch. It was our 1st time. The food was perfection! Our server, Nick made the trip totally worthwhile. It was his 2nd week, but hus service was flawless! Great food, even better service. Thank you, Nick!
Absolutely beautiful grounds and dining. The food was well portioned and affordable. Amazing venue for a place like a wedding. Very clean, waiting staff were polite and had excellent service.
Went for dinner one night. The fried chicken was dlicious. Nothing too fancy, but i would like to see more beer choices on the menu.
Was there for a wedding. It was a beautiful venue. Only complaint was the pork dinner was too tough and I don't think they provided it.
Attended a fishing show at Pere Marquette. It was a great show, lots of activities, very family friendly, and a great volunteer staff.
I've stayed at Pere Marquette many times, for many different reasons and I always enjoy my stay. Camping is great here too. Great location, nice facilities and the great room in the lodge is lovely and has a nice rustic feel, with big fireplaces and lots of timber. Great place to see hummingbirds too.
Beautiful lodge with a great restaurant and wonderful view of the Illinois River.
Wife & I recently took the kids to Pere Marquette for an overnight getaway. Room was extremely overpriced for what you get. No mini-fridge or microwave. No guide in the room about the hotel s amenities or important phone numbers. We also got placed in a room that was poolside and not soundproof. Pool is open until 10pm so going to bed early wasn t viable.
Restaurant had nice staff and food was good. Needs updating and more lighting.
Pool was clean and the kids had a great time. Could ve been warmer in the room though.
We had the eagle package and had a great trip. We recommend.
My husband and I have been coming to the lodge for many years. The eagle throwback package is a good value. The food is really good and we always have great service.
Last year we were very dissapointed in our stay (I did tell them at the desk and also sent an email with no reply) so I was reluctant to book again this year but my husband insisted we should give another try. We were disappointed yet again. The room was musty, the bathroom appeared to not have been swept and the shower curtain was very smelly. The pool area was open on arrival but the next day was shut down. The hot tub wasn't even usable last year when we stayed at the lodge. This is one of the main reasons we come so it was very disappointing. The hot tub definitely needs to be worked on. The new liner was an improvement however it is pulling up and needs repaired. We left a survey and told the desk at checkout that we were dissapointed. The desk person did apologize, but I wish they had offered some sort of compensation since this is the second time it happened. I even asked at the time of reservation if it was working and explained last years problem. While visiting with other guests, many had the same past experiences. Not sure about a return visit next year.
Pere Marquette is a far drive from many places and does not have great phone/internet reception, but is elegant, rustic, and a great location for outdoorsy sorts of people.
