Very welcoming staff and relaxing atmosphere. We ordered takeout at the restaurant that we enjoyed out on the patio.

10/10 would attend a wedding there again. They might review their open bar policy, though. Sorry if we ruined it for anyone in the future.
We spent the morning hiking on the trails at the park and had a great time.
A three hour wait because of a "no reservation" policy for parties of less than six. It was a two hour drive for us. Never again!
Great room, reasonable price. We arrived late and struggled to find food, but the atmosphere was hard to beat.
This is a wonderful place to escape from St Louis and relax. Great restaurant, great views, great pool and hot tub.
Very Good. Waitress was excellent. Service was very good.
Room bed mattress excellent. Had to wIt a while for hot water. The salmon was good, crispy skin the way I like it. But the mixed vegetables were Mashable like baby food. Not the best vegetables.
Attended a wedding. Very nice service and accommodations.
It was good and maybe it was nostalgia but I remember it being brighter and better
The lodge itself is really nice - we went into the restaurant today; the food was fantastic and if you haven't tried it, try the fried chicken. They have a good wine list as well :)
The room had a beautiful view of the river. We were able to watch eagles and saw a gorgeous sunset on one of our hikes. I would highly recommend this place for an affordable and memorable weekend!
The location is awesome. The service is great. The rooms are decent. The views are great, and the scenic drive and hiking trails are excellent.
Got a cabin for my birthday. Was clean but tiny. And didn't realize we would be sharing the same building with other people...and the walls are very thin. Could hear everything so it wasn't very relaxing with screaming kids and slamming doors. Indoor pool was nice but the hot tub was closed down and the gym was locked and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in some time. Had lunch in the on-site restaurant. Food was ok but the service could use some help.
They're have Good Food Great Service and Staffs Crews are Good best Food there
Considering the restaurant was closed was still a nice stay.
Great location near the Illinois and Mississippi River. Not the most level RV spots, but spacious and lots of shade. Very affordable, about half the cost of the campgrounds closer to St. Louis.
We stayed at the hotel for a wedding. The wedding was beautiful and the room was nice.
Cheeseburgers and a couple of Sam Adam's while watching the sun set across the river. What a view! What a great time!
Rooms we're beautiful. The only problems were heat/air were confusing and water in the shower took a long time to heat up. Overall it is a great location. If you have any wireless service other than at&t be ready to rely on the very slow free wifi. Beautiful views everywhere. Restaurant was good but a little over priced in my opinion. Over all I liked it and the issues were small and easily over looked.
While not perfect, it is a beautiful getaway along the Great River Road, and we do go back every year. The workers are friendly, and the rooms are comfortable. The lobby of the lodge is the great gathering place and it would be nice to have couches that were a bit more comfy than the rustic hard, green leather ones that are in use now. There is always background music playing also which distracts from the peaceful feel of the lodge. It seems unnecessary. After having used the restrooms by the conference rooms, it is a bit unlikely I would book a meeting or group gathering there. The toilet paper is literally see-through, and they definitely needed some work done to them. It's little things like that which stand out, especially to women. The rooms are nice, but there is no microwave, refrigerator, or DVD player. In the cabin rooms, the fireplaces have been boarded over which seems like not the best idea. STILL, we love it anyway and will continue to go back for the beauty of the area.
The event space was clean and open, the lodge itself was a stunning backdrop for the ceremony. The staff was kind, welcoming and competent.
Fantastic fried chicken and a great environment for sitting around with loved ones and eating a delicious meal.
great place to see eagles, and lodge is good place to eat. great menu wine selection is good as well
It is a very nice place. Very comfortable and family friendly.
We had a wonderful stay. The staff was wonderful and the facilities looked excellent. We would not hesitate to book another stay.
Great stuff. Wonderful grounds. Got there at 1:30 for a wedding that night and room wasn't ready. Check-in is at 3pm so we were hoping to get in early after long drive. Told to wait and check back every 15 minutes. The room did not get ready til 3pm. They could have told us that right away or taken our number and called when ready. Also we reserved in historic wing due to recommendation of reservstionist to get better view. Our room ended up being in a corner and all we saw was room looking out of room 225. Very disappointed in room placement. The wedding was excellent . The restaurant was very good also.woud go back but probably get cabin. Glad we didnt for wedfing since we were told they were only 20 ft from lodge.
Been here multiple times. We love the seclusion and amenities. Highly recommend.
Had the pot roast dinner. It's ok. The chicken dinner is better.
I was there one day ago with a party of 7 for my birthday I chose the lodge because I love the restaurant and always order the portabella sandwich only to find out that they had put out a new menu and that sandwich was no longer available. I had told my sisters about it and they were also looking forward to it. I had to choose another menu item and it was just OK, not exceptional as the portabella item had always been. The server was very good, his name was Trenton he did a very nice job. Pretty sure I won't eat there again as I did not find much on the new menu that I would be interested in. It's a shame as it is quite a drive and always a special place to go.
We had our wedding here years ago. I love this place and the history behind the lodge and the land. The only complaint I have is they need to update the rooms and add a mini fridge. The Keurig is a nice touch. Service was great, for was excellent and the rooms are super comfy. The rustic feel, even in the new section is well worth the visit. We will come back often!
Went to a wedding here. It is a beautiful place. Only complaint that bar closes at 11. Odd for a wedding.
Nice view of waterside, also food is reasonably priced at the restaurant. They do have wedding venue both for outdoor and indoor as well as reception.
Very nice lodge. Great atmosphere. Beautiful river view.
Great place , I loved , highly recommend to anyone.
Friendly staff, rustic atmosphere, beautiful scenery. All in all lovely place
I have had the best time staying at Pere Marquette. I've been coming here for over 30 years and I can't wait to keep enjoying it for another 30 years.
Went there for dinner. The lodge is rustic and has a big fire place. I had the t-bone with rice, and it was very tasty.
Lodge is nice. Restaurant was good. Rooms need updating.
I ate at the restaurant during my visit. The service was great! Everyone was very friendly and the lodge was well cared for.
I had a nice and comfortable stay and the staff was very helpful for our event. Wi-fi could be spotty at times and it was a bit of a hassle not having refrigerators in the rooms (especially with the ice machine on our floor out of service).
The lobby of the lodge is a good place to meet with people in small groups. The lighting isn't the best, but I'm picky about lights.
We were there for a wedding. Staff was very friendly, food was hot, cooked veggies were very bland, but the rest of the food was tasty. Park was beautiful and well taken care of. They must have worked hard on that, bc a storm had just come through and destroyed trees everywhere in the area the night prior. Tree crews were still in the nearby areas working, but the park was spotless!
Great place! The staff are very polite and the winery was a cool place to visit. Illini lounge could use more than just a ping pong table though.
Stayed here for a work conference a Wednesday night through Friday morning. The check-in was smooth. The room was clean and as described. The food at the restaurant was good. I only ate one lunch, one breakfast and one appetizer there. Service was fine. The bartender in the wine room was friendly and helpful. I used the walking trails and enjoyed the visit.
I went there for a wedding and it's a beautiful place to visit.
This place is the best. Everyone is so kind, love to hike, eat, and relax here. I highly recommended. Cant wait to come visit and hike this spring time!
We attended a wedding in the main lodge and stayed for the weekend. It is a beautiful venue. The food was easily 4 stars, the rooms were very clean, and the setting was breathtaking. My wife and I were completely amazed with every experience and amenity.
The state park is absolutely beautiful! But the food is another story. Everything tasted like it was microwaved. My potato skins were frozen in the inside and my pulled pork looked disgusting. Everything was almost room temperature. I will never eat their again.
We went for Christmas dinner and it was excellent. The number of dishes and the quality of the food was terrific. The only negative was the 2 1/2 hour wait for a table!
We have stayed here twice. Our first experience was wonderful. However, last year in April we went back. It was very disappointing. There were large, outside, non-paying groups visiting guests, taking over the Great Room, monopolizing the seating, cooking, drinking, being loud. Children were riding their bikes and kicking soccer balls around in The Great Room all weekend. We went there for some peace and quiet. The management didn't care when we asked for some "control" over the chaos. Told us "well, schools out". Of course school was out! It was Saturday and Sunday! I wrote a note regarding our experience and never got a response. I doubt we will ever go back.
Was only at the lodge to participate in a church function; still, the conference rooms are well-furnished and the staff is friendly.
What a great place for Easter Brunch. The buffet was extensive and tasty. The service was friendly and the venue full of old world charm. For the kids they hold an Easter egg hunt. The trip to Grafton was picturesque especially on a warm sunny day.
Came here for the Pere Marquette endurance trail run. Great place, beautiful scenery, I could have sat in the lodge all day... And not just because the hills killed my legs.
Did not stay in room but enjoyed wine and music. Fun for family!
Great, special monthly event! Wonderful Arielle and superb service, chef and friendly atmosphere!
Such a pretty view! My favorite spot in my home town!
Beautiful and historical. I love visiting. Amazing Coffee here!
The grounds are nice. Good location and plenty of trails. The room was nice and clean with the exception of the bathroom. It could have used more attention around the shower stall. I would not recommend the restaurant. Steak was ordered medium (expecting pink center) and got it medium rare (red center). The food was very very bland.
We had such a wonderful time at our friends wedding this last weekend. It was relaxing and beautiful to say the least.
We had a wonderful time. Everyone there just wants you to relax and enjoy yourself. They succeeded!!!
Me and my family have been going here for years. Beautiful lodge with a beautiful view of the Illinois river.
Third family reunion we held here. Great place especially lodge for evening gathering.
We would not recommend staying at the Pere Marquette. My first impression: walking in to check in to our rooms and the front desk attendant continued to talk on the phone, not making eye contact, no acknowledgment that I was standing. I waited there for 10 minutes. I chalked it up to, "She doesn't know I am standing here" although she did apologize for making me wait while she was on the phone.
Our meal was unimpressive (to say the least) and I ended up sending my food back. I have NEVER done that. We are strict believers in not wasting food, but this wasn't salvageable. My husband and I were the only diners in the restaurant and we constantly had to flag down our server as she was engaged in conversing with two other servers near the register at the door. We finally resorted to standing up to get her attention and then when she was at our table, she wouldn't look at us but talked to us as she stared at her phone. Not even kidding.
The cabin we stayed in was fair and this is generous. The rooms had a coating of dust on furniture, the cable/satellite was out and the heat did not work. All first world problems, we know.
We gave this 2 stars instead of 1 simply because we found our experience kept us laughing.
Save yourself the $ and go to Alton. The restaurants, hotels, etc. are nicer!
We ate at the restuarant and the fried chicken. was delish!
