Was there for a wedding. The whole place was kept clean, staff was extra accommodating. Would definitely visit again for a weekend booking.

Forget wifi, and Verizon doesn't work either. Other than that, it is a nice place. Actually run by Best Western. The dining room is the highlight. Have the fried chicken.
Very nice staff. Beautifully decorated and spacious. Great food.
We ate at the restaurant only and enjoyed the food and ambience. Such a nice view afterwards from the outside terrace. Highly recommend!
Such a nice place overlooking the Mississippi River. The Lodge is beautiful inside. The roads through the area are stunning in the fall. Hiking and sightseeing are popular things most participate in. Close by is a river town called Grafton where you will find many opportunities to enjoy the area. Make sure you check out the winery. Getting there is interesting.
The meal itself was very good. The down side of the evening was the girl started to sweep the floor right next to us. When my wife asked her if she could not do that right next to us she stoped and went right behind us and started to sweep again. At the time there was only 3 couples in the whole place. A large party had just left on the other side of the room where no one was sitting so they could have cleaned there and not bothered anyone at all
Nice place to visit with lots of hiking trails. Fun for adults and kids.
I the park and the hiking trails. There are so many great things about Pere Marquette. But the lodge really disappointed me. We went for two nights stay, and because we ordered a romance package for the first night (which is listed on the website as champagne, a $50 dinner voucher, and one pound of chocolate all for $70), we had to book over the phone rather than online per Pere Marquette's policy.
Well, we never got a confirmation email and then when we arrived, we had champagne and not a pound of chocolate, but meats, cheeses and crackers that had been sitting out for hours. No refrigerator in the room to store them.
Our key cards did not work the second night because they thought we were only staying for one night. So they charged me an extra $109, when I was under the impression that the first $235 was for both nights and the romance package. Of course there was no confirmation email sent, because it wasn't booked online and instead had to be booked over the phone (you would think this wouldn't matter), so I had to shell out far more money for less than I was promised.
Very disappointed. Very frustrating. Would not recommend staying in the lodge, because you aren't guaranteed what you're paying for.
Girl scout trip was a success! Very nice place. Clean rooms. Thanks
This resort is located in a beautiful area along the great rivers and has a lot to offer from comfortable rooms to dining and relaxing to a host of activities.
Pretty nice. Reminds me of dated luxury though. Like a place my parents or grandparents would have vacationed. Not very crowded at all.
Great time at the Wine Festival. The food was awesome, and having the chance to make new friends while mixing with friends and relatives is wonderful.
We attended family fishing festival and it was so fun
Nice venue for wedding or large gatherings. The fried chicken is really tasty and from my experience the waiting staff is top notch.
The lodge was nicer that expected. The food was nice as well. Trying to figure out a way to swing a actual overnight stay
Fried Chicken was amazing, lodge is beautiful and rustic, good staff, great place to see
Very nice relaxed place. Plenty to do for everyone.
We met family down there and took family pictures. We also had dinner at the lodges restaurant and it was delicious.
Went to the restaurant for dinner, food was decent, service relatively quick.
Beautiful location, friendly staff, clean rooms & pool, the great hall is a spectacular common area with several amenities. This is a great place for a social gathering.
Service was slow, some food was cold, one sandwich was dried out. Overall a poor dining experience.
My husband and I just stayed for our five year wedding anniversary. It's been a tradition since our first anniversary. We love the atmosphere of the lodge. The view from the the older river view rooms is beautiful, especially at sunset.
The service was fantastic and our room, along with the pool area, were clean. We grabbed a delicious dinner at the restaurant, enjoyed the patio, relaxed in the hot tub, and walked down to the river. We will be back for many more anniversaries!
Stopped in just to sit for a while. Checked prices for an idea later. Great place for a get away.
I got dinner there while on a ghost tour, food was amazing, best fried chicken I've had in awhile.
We recently made the trip up to Pere Marquette for Sunday morning breakfast in the lodge. The price of the buffet was extremely affordable, but I wonder if that is what causes the quality to somewhat suffer. The eggs were consistently watery and cold on the buffet. We were unable to locate any jelly to put on the biscuits [disclaimer . we did not ask our server for any]. The biscuits and gravy though were full of flavor, the sausage and bacon were cooked properly, and the potatoes were just the right crispy outside with soft inside.
The fresh fruit was a hit with patrons, so it kept running out, same with the danishes.
Our coffee stayed full the entire time, and our server was fantastic. Extremely friendly.
We have been going here for 30+ years, and we will continue. Just hope they improve the eggs!
I liked the room I stayed in, but I ordered at the resturaunt. And then a half hour later, my caesar salad came. We waited there for so long for our food to come, that I don't even remember the food ever coming.
Met some family for lunch. The catfish was wonderful and the server was great. She kept all our orders strait and kept checking back with us. The scenery was pretty as you get to be right by the river. I wish it hadn't been raining on and off or I would have spent more time walking around taking in the sights.
We are planning a wedding at the lodge. The coordinator is amazing and knowledgeable. The ceremony and reception are both on site, which helps a lot with organizing.
The rooms are amazing and smell just like my childhood.
I called on Sunday morning to see if I was better off to book online through 3rd party or book directly through the hotel . She told me there wouldn't be a price difference, so we waited until we arrived. They charges $20 more than Priceline . Then when I went back to the front desk ans asked she said sorry , Nothing I can do , we don't price match. We won't come back here. They
Went for lunch on a Sunday. Food and service were passable but not exceptional. Dimly lit, tired atmosphere even at noon. I'm not sure what audience they're trying to target... Old people with young children? Fried chicken served family style is okay. Instant mashed potatoes, salty gravy, canned corn, slaw from a bag. Reminiscent of a weeknight dinner at your friend's grandma's house. Four stars only because of the nostalgia factor, live music in the lobby and picturesque setting. The place could be so much more than fried chicken. A winery? Brewery? Distillery?
It's a nice place but my friend ordered a meat, cheese, fruit sample plate and it was very sad. It was a pile of Pepperoni's with cheese cubes and a strawberry. He asked for his money back.
The cabin was clean an comfortable. The food from the restaurant was wonderful and fair priced and the scenery was majestic.
The stay at Perre Marquette in Grafton,IL was perfect for our group party. We had plenty of room in the lodges we had two rooms for 8 people. Four per room would probably be the limit though. Friendly staff, we will definitely be back to visit soon.
Some friends and I stayed overnight at the tent campsite. We ate breakfast at the restaurant in the morning and everything was wonderful
The location and rooms at the lodge were excellent: I loved how close to the river it was, how accessible the hiking trails were, and the neat area in and around Grafton. Some important drawbacks about the place though, and this is why it earns it's 4 star rating instead of 5: the food in the restaurant of the lodge was terrible. I'm pretty sure the food came from GFS 3 months ago. Breakfast was mediocre, but dinner was no good. Go to Grafton for dinner, there's some cool places there that serve good food. The second thing is - and this doesn't bother me so it isn't factored into the 4 star rating, that's only for the food - that the wifi was slow, but also that there is slim to no cell service (on Verizon at least). Overall, a great location and great rooms, but eat somewhere else.
I visited to attend wedding ceremony and reception. My wife and I agreed that the hotel is well kept and in good repair. It may seem a bit dated in a few areas, but in a way that could be viewed as in keeping with the traditional Lodge feel. All the staff we encountered were professional, friendly, and helpful.
My husband and I had two wonderful nights at Pere Marquette Lodge. The room was very clean and the service was very good. The pool and whirlpool were clean. The restaurant at the lodge had a good choice of foods. We ate there several times.
Very nice lodge and gift shop. The restaurant was very good also. Good service and a short wait for a table. Really nice patio overlooking the river. Nice to go in the fall when the leaves are changing.
Relaxing, excellent food. Christmas tree so pretty. Helpful friendly staff.
Nice scenery! Lodge is beautiful! Restaurant was good as well.
Very beautiful even on a flooded rainy day. Everyone was very accommodating and sweet. The food in The Lodges phenomenal the atmosphere very relaxing beautiful music in a fireplace just couldn't ask for more quiet quaint relaxing place to go to with a good friend
Parking for the cabin was very limited. I was surprised at the lack of a mini fridge in the cabin. The campus is very pretty.
Good food at very reasonable prices, good service and fun atmosphere.
Had dinner in the restaurant. Service was goid and so was the food.
Camping is great and picnic area up top is beautiful. The town of Grafton has some rude morning workers at there local BP filling station.
It's a beautiful location set on the river road. The cabins are very nice and the grand Hall is fantastic.
Only went for the view down by the docks for this particular visit. Having been multiple times, the setting in its entirety is beautiful. I would highly recommend it for those who enjoy a nature setting as well as hiking.
Family friendly fun or an intimate place for either a day or weekend of fun! There are cabins to rent, campgrounds for tents or RVs, or you can rent a room inside the lodge. The lodge is the main building and houses two wings of rooms, a pool, hot tub, workout room, ping ping, life sized chess and more. The restaurant is very good and features home style food and a full bar. There is a separate wine bar. I think the best part is the decor and all wood, hand crafted furniture. This really is a great place to bring the entire family. It can also be a perfect, romantic date night.
Planning my wedding at pere marquette and the staff is amazing! They answer any questions no matter how simple they may seem and in the most convient method to you.
My husband and i came to attend a wedding at the Lodge. We arrived at 6am after a 14 hr drive and were met by a very nice staff member who checked us in. Our stay there was very comfortable and the all the staff members were great. The rooms are very clean! I ate breakfast at the restaurant in the lodge and had a wonferful server and great food. The trails near by also provide a wonderful hike. I have only positive things to say about our time there!
It was nice and clean when we got there but no service
Was the only hotel that we could find open at 5 or 6 am! Bathroom had some hair in it and the front desk tried to give us a room someone was already in but that can happen anywhere! It was a very nice place to stay! I would recommend!!
The restraunt has great food and the hotel has nice amenities.
This is a great place for a couple's retreat or a family get away.
Visited the restaurant only. Very classy yet a country log cabin feel. Food was delicious, I got the pot roast meal. The surrounding area was very nice and was beautiful to drive down the river road during this cool October weather. Would definitely visit again.
Great place, atmosphere, and food. Really enjoy the lodge experience.
The lodge is a beautiful old CCC-era building though guest rooms are comfortable and modern. We are in the old section. We stayed for three nights - beginning Tuesday evening.
The main lobby is the highlight of the lodge! Beautiful with vaulted ceilings, a soaring fireplace that remains lit, windows spanning a great view of the sunset and river. TU and WE evening were spent lounging in this great room, making the stay fantastic... until tonight.
I am currently sitting in the lobby and am surrounded - quite literally - by 40 standing and marching people who are being orchestrated by a VERY loud wedding planner. The entrance to the restaurant is blocked, the fireplace is blocked... This is LOUD, disruptive and completely ruins the experience of the lodge stay.
**IF** one is going to do a wedding rehearsal - rent the entire bloody common area and don't impose it on every other guest.
And it was going so well...
Hurry I grew visiting this area. Missouri, Mississippi. And Illinois river frozen.
Born 1959 and never seen this in my life
OK. The honesty first. The WiFi isn't good in the cabins that are further away from the lodge. In certain spots, I was able to have some slow streaming videos, but come on, if I was looking for the wifi, I'd have stayed home.
Back story:
I had been under a lot of stress recently, baby on the way, a house move coming around the same time, trying to start a new business, reoccurring physical health issues, and just the stresses that we all deal with on the daily.
Arrival: My wife and I were greeted by a super friendly young blonde lady with glasses, I believe her name was Angie.
We had a few difficulties on our end of planning this get away, but Angie (who reminded me of my sister, just felt like family), made sure to put the guest as priority uno.
Without her assistance, I don't know if I would have even relaxed the first night. I certainly wouldn't be taking time outta my life to write a review about this place because I like to keep busy (even on a mini vacay).
Anyways, all of the front desk staff were great. Friendly housekeeping. I didn't do much dinning at the lodge, but what I had was good.
This is an amazing place to get away from the rat race for a few days and feel safe among friends (who just happen to be the employees as well).
I'll be back and probably bring some others along someday soon.
Thanks for the healing experience Pere Marquette Lodge.
Nice rooms, dining was ok restaurant was kind of dark. They have a big lobby where you can look at the river great hiking trails.
The staff was very courteous, and the food equally delicious.
We enjoyed dinner there. If it was a little cleaner, I would have given a five star rating.
Its a historic landmark. A giant chess game, connect four and fire place in lobby. The pool was warm and we had it to ourselves Friday night and Saturday mourning.
Went here for a wedding. It was nice, but had no experience with hotel services.
The location was beautiful, though I'm always disappointed in the buffet lunch
Beautiful CCC Lodge built during the Great Depression
We went for a wine tasting and the wine was delicious!
Gorgeous event space, phenomenal bar selection and always a lovely hike through the woods.
