My wife and I loved to visit this boutique silver store in beautiful downtown New Canaan, CT and after almost 2 years of not visiting, I surprised her today and took her for her birthday. She was to choose whatever she wanted as her gift(s) and what we both looked forward to as a great afternoon escape turned sour as soon as we walked in the store! We wanted to give the salesperson the benefit of the doubt, however, after 15 minutes of her not even acknowledging us or our needs(we were the only customer in the store), we realized this is NOT the same friendly service we were accustomed to! We started to place our choices on the counter for when we were ready to buy them all, yet after choosing 3 items, my wife told me she was done. This was odd, as we both went in thinking we would choose several pieces and when we left, my wife admitted that she felt guilty buying any more based on the lack of service, lack of smiles and quite frankly, lack of anything, from the sales woman....completely numb to the fact that we were there shopping! I am not sure what happened to the friendly staff, but unfortunately, today's much less than desirable experience actually made us both say to each other that it was bad enough to make us not want to visit again...a pure shame, as it is(was) a great destination for us and our friends. I only hope the owners, if they are the same husband/wife team that we knew them to be a few years ago, don't lose too much based on what we experienced today. For the petite sales person today....if you wanted to turn us away, you totally succeeded.

Pennyweights in the center of town on Elm Street in New Canaan is a wonderful store! It s a favorite gift store and a fulfilling shopping adventure. Silver jewelry with and without gemstones is plentiful at Pennyweights and very inexpensive. Buy more than one piece and leave the store with enough money for dinner in New Canaan. Have fun at this fabulous downtown boutique with outstanding customer service buying gifts for every member of your family while buying one special gift for yourself. From inexpensive silver jewelry to gemstones set in 18K gold and estate jewelry, Pennyweights is the cool place to be. You ll love Pennyweights buying lasting gifts that save you money. Note: Pennyweights was an important part of my birthday experience. We bought a sterling silver and diamond cross pendant and a fabulous open heart ring, purchasing an absolutely beautiful gold and diamond crescent moon pendant a few days ago. Love it!
