I am in the 2-year ASN program currently. It's a disaster. NONE of my classmates that I have talked to have anything positive to say about PA College and I will not be recommending it to anyone, which is a shame because the campus is stunning and they have a lot of cool resources.

I m currently in the nursing program. I have been in the medical field for 5 years now. I can tell you that nursing school is HARD. It will probably be the hardest thing you ve ever done. It was not meant to be easy! You literally have people s lives in the palm of your hand. If you make one wrong decision or one wrong calculation.. you can literally kill someone or even seriously injury them. They won t just let anyone pass the class. They expect perfection because when your out working in the field of nursing you have to be flawless. Anyone who has worked in the medical I know could attest to this. While some of the instructors really aren t not good at being teachers. Or some of the policies seem absolutely ridiculous like 10% deducted off your grade because of a loved one dying. I m happy they are hard on us! They are teaching us to be great nurses! I don t know how many people know what s it s like to have a doctor scream at you and demand answers or a patient scream at you because they are scared but this is apart of the nursing career and I come in contact with it every day. Sorry but if you can t handle when someone is yelling at you or being hard on you maybe this isn t the right profession for you. I love what I do. I can t wait to graduate. Those new students coming into the college. The classes are what you make them!
Horrible school. Just got dismissed from the MLS program for being just ONE AND A HALF percentage points off clinical passing standards. They claimed it was a critical thinking issue but I think it was largely poor communication instead.
So as someone with a learning disability, I submitted my medical records to the disability services not once, but TWICE. And Elizabeth Ashley still didn't give me disability letters for the profs regarding accommodation until a few days before spring finals. On top of that, there are NO accommodations for the clinical aspect, just classes, which I passed all woth flying colors. This is a clear violation of the ADA act. When I confronted the administration over it, they were absolutely clueless and said nothing about it. Not even a simple "sorry." There were times where the incompetence was so bad, my parents would have to join in on zoom meetings over it.
So for anyone with a learning disability who wants to go into the medical field, don't waste your time here. The administration is clueless and incompetent. You're far better off at HACC, who actually does care about students with disabilities.
I attended this college for both my associates and Bachelors degrees. Having been a nurse now for the last 7 years, and a travel nurse for the last 5, I can confidently say that the educational standards surpass most that I have seen with students doing clinicals in the various hospitals I have worked at. No, the teachers aren't there to make sure you pass or be your best friends, they are there to ensure you have the tools necessary to pass your boards and provide competent care for patients. I'm glad I attended this institution because what I have seen from many others is sub-par and, on occasion, scary.
1 - college doesn t have a library ( the library basically have two shelves with books ) 2- some professor are not qualified 3- the school have some non sense rules 4- a lot of extra useless classes are given to student that you have to complete online , if you don t you can t come to class 5- very little option of classes and Professors 6- the whole College is about how to serve Lancaster General , like there is nothing else to live for in the area 7- they charge you if you change your schedule for any reason 8- clinicals instructors are terrible and don t know how to teach 9- the school doesn t have clubs 10- the clinical offered at the school during COVID doesn t give you the opportunity to practice during class hours my list goes on
The staff members are rude especially at the front desk. And the school makes it really hard for you by bringing little little things just to fail you . It s expensive for nothing
I received my Associate's in Nursing through PA College- overall this was not a great experience. The gen ed classes were good. The nursing classes were extremely disorganized (teachers who contradicted themselves, curriculum changes without notice, 3rd semester tests that did not reflect course content). And clinical experience was extremely dependent on your clinical instructor- I had 2 who were unnecessarily harsh, rude, and unpredictable. And there was no standardization in how clinicals were graded (I graduated with my ASN in 2013, so that may have improved).
I did go back to this school for my bachelor's (because I work for LGH, so I had serious financial help if I went here). My bachelor's experience was much, much more positive than my original degree. This curriculum was entirely online. The class content, curriculum and grading was much more consistent and logical. I put some work into these classes, so I did feel that I learned things, although most BSN students here that I've known walk away feeling that it was a complete waste of time.
Excellent school. Professional nursing staff is one of the best in the state. They care about making quality nurses, for our countries future, instead of just passing students , to attract more money.
I d give zero stars if possible. My husband is enrolled in the five week clinical portion of the phlebotomy program and assigned to a location an hour drive, each direction, from where we live. He is also continuing to work full time and will not be able to get there on time from his clinical location. He explained this to his instructor who simply replied to him that the other location is further away . She did not even attempt to find him a closer assignment so he can finish his course and receive his certification. Lazy, rude, and ridiculous. We had heard poor opinions of the college but we thought a certificate program would prove to be a little better. Looks like we were incorrect. What a shame for LGH - they should merge with The University of Pennsylvania and hire real professors. Luckily he can withdraw from the course and get most of the tuition back. Our recommendation - go somewhere else for any healthcare education.
PA College s slogan was (still is?) GET READY. I always found it ironic and better suited as introspective advice. For recent high school graduates who still live at home and don t have to work, PCHS certainly has a 13th grade feeling that may be appropriate for this demographic. For working adults, veterans, and anyone with college experience elsewhere, consider alternatives to PCHS.
