Pella Corporation Review

I have an older patio door that needed worked on. I called the Pella office and Troy was not able to help with the issue but went above and beyond and called me back with names and numbers of people in the area that were able to fix my door.

Design decisions can be daunting for us non-designers - Evan C. walked us through the process with timeliness and with a depth of knowledge that helped firm up our decisions and feel confident about them. We look forward to working with her on the remainder of our renovation!

We had about 19 windows replaced at our house this summer. Everyone we worked with was great. The sales person was patient and worked with us to get us the best day. The installers were very nice, taking time to explain what they were doing as they did it. And they cleaned up after themselves. Our neighbors were impressed and quickly asked us for contact information for their own houses.

I got a broken window pane from a neighbor, took the sash to the Pella store. Why is it that a window store cannot repair a broken window pane? Instead they sent me to a glass repair business, who at first told me they could fix it but called me a few days later saying they could not. I fixed the window myself, after wasting two round trips of 160 miles each. Why does Pella make unrepairable windows unless an owner completely takes it apart from the inside? I bought this house with 25 of your windows, I dread trying to fix another.

We are extremely pleased with our Pella windows. Denny VanLangan was very knowledgeable about the products. He helped walk us through the buying process offering various ways to meet our needs. We would highly recommend working with Denny on any window or door project.

I love my new Lifestyle Series windows! We just had our large living room window replaced and it matches our wood work perfectly. Cudos to our sales rep, Jim Pruett, for the design solution he came up with for us. The installation experience was wonderful too - the crew was on time, and left our room as clean as they found it. One day in particular, I received an urgent call from my husband and we had to make a final decision on a large set of windows in our cabin area, and we had to decide immediately on a window opening within ONE HOUR so that the builder could install the correct framing, and Mark made himself immediately available to us, even though he was expected in a meeting, to walk me through the sizing options in order to let my builder continue working with our wall framing project. We are SO pleased with our decision to use Pella Windows and Doors of Des Moines and truly enjoyed and appreciated our pleasant experience with Mark Amdahl.

The decision to put Pella windows in our home was an easy one! I couldn t have asked for a better quality product or better service. Steve was so helpful in going through the design options to ensure the windows fit the style we were looking for. My favorite feature is the between the glass blinds. I love the clean look of not having blinds cover up our beautiful wood windows and the clear view they provide. I receive so many compliments on our windows and they are one of my favorite features in our home. Definitely recommend Pella and working with Steve.

The windows and the installers are excellent. The sales person made numerous mistakes and didn't return phone calls. He broke our window when he came out to give us an estimate and we had to wait two months to get the windows replaced. I was also billed the wrong amount. So, excellent windows and installers if you are up for the hassle.

I can't say enough about Steve's professionalism and knowledge of the Pella products and services he provided to us. Steve ensured everything was completed timely and he followed-up after the job to make sure we were 100 percent satisfied. I highly recommend Steve S. for all of your window needs at Pella!

**UPDATE 10/22/2019: We appreciate Pella taking our complaints seriously. They have replaced the door, filled in the nail holes on all the windows and door, as well as fixed our storm door/overhang issue.

Saying I am disappointed in our experience with Pella is a severe understatement. My expectations when choosing Pella to install new windows, a door, sidelight, and storm door was that we would get the quality product and installation of a highly ranked, nationally known company that would reflect the over $18,500.00 this project cost. Here is a summary of everything that has gone wrong with us choosing Pella (please see included pictures):
1. An incorrect window was ordered - instead of a clear, normal window being installed in the master bedroom, they installed a frosted window. I could over look this as a simple mistake other than the fact that I have since received two invoices saying I owe an additional $645.63 for the correction of their mistake (again, the original window I paid for was more expensive then the one they replaced it with).
2. The trim ordered and installed was smaller than the previous/existing trim. This meant having to retexturize the walls around all of the windows and painting. This may seem small but it created an unexpected project and expense when we had to hire another contractor to repair the walls when all we thought we were signing on for was new windows. Also, you can see all of the nail holes in the trim.
3. After installation there was no caulking put in place around any of the windows, the door, or side light. This made the job look very poor and incomplete - again, we paid the outside contractor to not only repair the walls and paint, but also to finish Pella's job by caulking.
4. We ordered a storm door for our back patio door and have a roof with an overhang. This storm door cannot be opened all the way without getting stuck on our roof overhang. I feel that the installers or the person who came out to do the original measurements should have advised of the possible issue with the clearance of the door prior to installation.
5. We ordered a door and sidelight combo that cost over $4,000.00. The quality of this product is awful, with black glue seeping out and peeling off on both the inside and outside of the glass. We called Pella to advise of the issue, our sales rep (who was very nice) agreed that the product looked awful and sent someone out to assess the product - they stated that the entire door and sidelight would need replaced - this was over a month ago and there has been no follow through or follow up on the replacement.
6. The handles on both the storm door and our new crank window fall/pull off when in use - poor installation and very disappointing.

For almost $20,000.00 spent, I expected quality product, installation, and customer service. Unfortunately, Pella lacks in all three of those areas. We were scheduled to complete the second part of our window replacement project with Pella but we will be looking elsewhere for services.

I am the owner at MBG Renovation and currently working with Brandon and formerly with Mark before he moved divisions. We work with the team at Pella on a regular basis and have always been extremely pleased with their entire process from quoting to delivery. Pella makes a quality product and we have only had one small very small issue in all of our time working together. Once I brought it to their attention they fixed the issue quickly and completly which speaks volumes for their character and company mission.

Steve helped me at my home in Newton and did a fantastic job with our sliding glass door. He is a great salesman and is very honest.

We were planning a project to have a new exterior door put in for our walk out basement. I had heard really good things about Pella regarding their service, products, and pricing, so I set up an estimate on their online scheduler for a Saturday (one of my two days off per week). I called the Friday afternoon before to confirm that my appointment was still on because I never received a confirmation email (neither in my inbox nor junk). The person who answered the phone was very pleasant and checked everything, confirming my time and date. The next day, I waited around for someone to call me or show up, but after an hour and a half past my appointment time I still had not heard from or seen anyone. I called the office again and asked what happened (they didn't know, but I don't blame them for that). The person who answered (a different person from the first time) was, again, very nice and helped reschedule me. I made an appointment for the following Saturday, same time. Again, I did not receive a confirmation email of any kind. I called today (the Friday before my appointment) to confirm again for my second attempt at an appointment. As usual, the person who answered was very kind and efficient, but informed me that the last person who put in my appointment put it in for Tuesday (4 days from now). I will be at work so that would not work out for me. The office person attempted to help me reschedule but at this point I am pretty disappointed in the service and time I have spent just trying to get someone out to my house. We would have liked to have had an estimate done by now and scheduling for a job, but I unfortunately think we will be looking for another company to work with so we can get the ball rolling before the thick of winter hits. Wish this would have worked out differently.

At first, I thought that Pella windows were not in my budget until I met Steve Schipper. He discussed options and payments with me and Steve made it easy for me to say Yes. The quality of the windows is amazing. The windows are wonderfully crafted and the outside noise level inside the home is so much better.

The installers (another Steve and his coworker) got all of the windows installed in one day. They were neat, efficient and very professional.
I would highly recommend giving Steve a call. His product knowledge and financial expertise shows his 20+ years with Pella.

No help at all . Took different avenue went to corn belt aluminum they making replacement screen for your product. Problem with your company ineffective training as I have all info on sticker about door product as have had to deal with your and other similar companies but lady I talked to asked when door installed. It a existing home door came with so year dont have clue . Couldn't get to ken or able to get to calvin either and she hung up phone . Very unprofessional

We are very pleased with our Pella windows. Our salesperson, Denny VanLangen was great to work with; the installation crew was efficient and cleaned up after they were done; and the windows are high quality. We especially like the snap-in between the glass blinds.

We had a very disappointing service experience with this company. They ordered the wrong replacement window, which we painted awaiting installation. We were told they would deduct $50 for our painting and the cost to install the re-replacement would be $200 less this $50 plus another $5 because the right window was smaller. The $5 deduct was based on today's prices not when the window was ordered and paid for nearly 6 months ago. The service tech told us the bill would be $145 (and we signed the invoice authorizing a credit charge). The next day we were told the charge was $195...suspiciously close to the original installation cost of $200. It was explained they didn't even charge for the first trip out. We hope not since they screwed up the first time. We wouldn't recommend this company nor their product. We have had problems with these windows for years.

Love our new windows went with the blinds already installed. Steve was awesome during the sale of the windows. I personally have recommended him to neighbors who also went with Pella windows because Steve was awesome.

Over the last 10 years I have replaced every window and door in my house. The products are exemplary but the service is truly outstanding!

I called them to send someone to look at windows that don't open and/or close. They sent a salesman who knew nothing about repairing windows, plus he was very arrogant and dismissive. Very dissatisfied with him and the misuse of my time.

We needed a new front door. I looked for one that was contemporary, beautiful and would let a lot of light in,. I found exactly what I needed. It's also quite an advantage to be able to choose not only the outside color and inside color, but is nice the colors do not have to be the same. Good choice of different knobs and handles to open door. The door is very sturdy too. It looks awesome!!!
We needed a sliding glass door for the deck also. Again, we had a lot of choices. And I'm totally happy with the looks and how it functions.

I have been working with Evan Combs for several years now on commercial projects. Evan Combs helped me with our bathroom window. The service she provided was exceptional. Our order was only for a single window, so it wasn't like we order a few dozen windows, but the level of service, attentiveness to detail, professional advice, and her responsiveness to my questions via email was top notch. Because of her, there is a high probability we will be using Pella to provide windows for the entire house when the time come. She was a valuable resource for me during the remodel process and a valuable asset to Pella Windows.

Worst experience with customer service in a decade. Worse yet, I asked to speak with agents manager and was placed into Dennis's voicemail, I believe that was the name anyway, and I never so much as received a follow up call. Terrible customer service and would definitely not recommend this company. Entire house doors and windows are Pella but positively will never purchase Pella again.

I started at the Pella Store in West Des Moines, they gave me Steve Schipper's name and I left a message. Within an hour I had a call from Steve and an appointment to measure all the windows in our house. Steve came out exactly on time and "measured twice to replace once". The 2 person crew (Bryan and Katie) came out to work for 2 1/2 days installing all 21 windows and 2 patios doors. Their work was perfect, no problems with installation or a mess to clean up after them because they took care of everything. We had such a great experience that when it came time to replace the front door - I called Steve.
