A day of fruitless efforts to obtain one of their products. American products are much more accessible than their own. Big Marketing and Distribution problem. Too bad I wanted to encourage the economy here but it's too complicated to buy their products in the regions. Sorry and disappointing.

I have a pelican 16' Bayou square stern canoe. The stern seat cracked. It is built as a replaceable seat, bolted in etc. I called "customer support" and I use the term very loosely. The young lady was a real gem, short, curse and rude. They do not support any product that isn't currently being manufactured. That ought to tell you all you need to know about their warranty. It is a big a joke as their customer service. So, I called old town just to see and told them I had a 17' old Town square stern sport ( they no longer make it) I told them the stern seat cracked do they happen to still support the canoe even though it is no longer made. The response was yes we support everything we have ever made, let me check if it it is inventory, if it isn't, it will be 10 to 14 days before shipment. Pause......yes it is in stock, $56.00 how soon do you need it? We have overnight available. I lied and told her I'll have to call back, I can't find my wallet. BTW, old town is made here, not Canada. So guess what I'm buying, I hope it cements your decision also. Buy Old Town, also check out Grumman if your wallet is a little deeper.

Excellent equipment (I bought two kayaks plus all the accoutrements) and the best customer service I have experienced in as long as I can remember (and I'm 64!). Great people working for a great company! 5-Star in my book.

Please note that Pelican offered a draw of 5 kayaks to employees who will leave a positive review of the company on Google Review. Take the reviews of the month of June 2019 with a grain of salt.

Pelican is a company filled with good people, good employees, but led by a management that does not know what it's doing. They make a lot of decisions without realizing the impact this has on the lives of their employees, to save even a dollard. Management members have no recognition for production employees. We would very much like things to improve, but unfortunately the employees who care about this company do not represent anything for those who make the decisions.

We needed a spare part but no after-sales service ...
I am disappointed with the lack of organization and communication on the part of customer service ...
we contacted pelican in early July by email, 2 weeks have passed and no news ... so we tried to contact them by phone and after 2 hours of waiting to get the line the guy said: we will call you back .. 1 week later no news.
I then contacted via Facebook, they asked for my contact details and other info on the requested part and then I see that they have simply not looked at the message for several days ...

in short in order to solve my problem I finally found something similar in the hardware store and I repaired myself ...
it's disappointing to buy a product and not have access to after-sales service ...

the kayaks are very practical but if you have a problem you have to solve it yourself ...

Bought a Catch130 though Academy Sports. While it is not a Hobie for the money it is a great boat, and I would definitely buy it again. At 6 3 and 240 pounds I fit great and the boat rides high in the water. The peddling of the drive is smooth and pushes the boat with ease. I am by no means in shape and after 2 hours of trolling around I was in no discomfort. Dollar for dollar the best peddle fishing platform out there.

After-sales service below MEDIOCRE. A star is even too much.
It's been almost two months that I galley to have a piece for my kayak. The customer service confirms that they have it but the guy responsible for the website has not yet updated the stock. They can not accept my order by phone and ask me to sign up on their site for an availability alert (which I already did a while ago).
In short, I will not talk too much about the deformation of the kayak (still under warranty), see photo, that the after-sales service asks me to put a weight to put it back in place ... ridiculous !!!!!

Bought a $400 kayak from Pelican (3 weeks ago) only to have the forward hatch rivets fall out because they where not put in completely (not compressed at all). I called the store I bought it from, I was told to call Pelican. I did and they said call the store. So they have a warranty but good luck getting anything accomplished with it. Now I have a really big paperweight.

I currently have the opportunity to work as an engineering intern in this company. It's a pleasant environment, with a nice team, both in the office and on the floor. I was able to learn and participate effectively in various engineering projects. We integrate quickly and easily to the Pelican team. In short, a very pleasant company to do an internship, I highly recommend!

Pelican has designed a women's kayak (Athena 100xp) and I love it. The inside of the kayak is very wide for my big thighs round woman. It is stable and provides pleasant comfort. I can put my feet on the footrests without problems despite my small size. I love the interior storage of the nets hammocks. It serves as a shelter to protect my things from drops of water when I paddle. This kayak is very light to carry for me, about 35 lbs only. Thank you for developing a kayak designed for women.

I bought 4 products pelican 2 kayaks 2 boards I had to return twice the same board once the 2nd board and a valve problem on one of the two kayak I sent emails I did not receive a response I lost a weekend of kayaking and 60 km of auto to trade no satisfactory response from customer service

No service. Missing a part on each of my kayaks for 6 months and I am still told to wait and that sending them by expedited mail is not in the procedures ??? And 6 months of waiting is it ?? Anything real!

Don't waste your time with this company. We've been trying to reach them for over a month and no one can even bother to reply to our emails. We're trying to replace a seat back in our peddle boat. We've been emailing them over and over again. They would rather ignore a customer than bother to reply and help us use their products. This is the type of company that couldn't care less about a customer after they give up a little money for the initial purchase.
