Good Italian food with fine seafood. Excellent sized portions
Excellent food and wine. Nice local half moon bay dining spot recommended by all of the locals.
I've been going there for years and I love the place. I will probably propose to my girlfriend here.
Had the margharita pizza on gluten free crust. It was really good, we came the following day to try another flavor. (Usually gluten free crust has a sweetness, but this one does not)
Pasta Moon is in beautiful downtown Half Moon Bay on Main St. Great ambiance, food and wine!
Wonderful food, personable service, friendly atmosphere, nice selections on the focused wine list. Somebody is obviously paying attention to the details. A really enjoyable evening. I've been calling friends to tell them about Pasta Moon. We'll be back.
This is such a cute, quante, local spot in Half Moon Bay. I am not a pasta person, but this pasta you have to get! All of the dishes were amazing. I loved the atmosphere and the casual feel to the restaurant.
The atmosphere is good and the service is good. After ordering three meals, the lobster noodles taste lighter, quite tasteful, and the lasagna is sour. The fried branch of the appetizer is a bit like salty crispy chicken. It feels very good.
We lo~~~ve this restaurant the first second we walked in, we brought our dog there and did not expect they are that friendly to our dog! Everyone in the restaurant is super nice, especially our server Vicky who gave us wonderful recommendations on appetizers, we had one nectarine salad and one fried calamari, all very delicious! Then we had three pasta, one bolognese, one lasagna (full size - 14 layers), and one seafood pasta recommended by her again, we were all very surprised how good all the pasta are!!!
Of course we had desserts at the end, tiramisu & lemon parfait~~~ we couldn t finish them but both were great without questions!
Highly recommend this restaurant no matter you have pets or not, it s really pity if you come to Half Moon Bay but did not come here! We love it!
Great spot in downtown Half Moon Bay. They have plenty of non-pasta options too!
Amazing food and amazing service! My first time in san Francisco and my friend insisted we go there. It is was one of the highlights of my trip. You wont be disappointed!!!!
We were given a recommendation to come here by a local. We called ahead and reserved for dinner a few nights ago. Wow!!! What amazing food and service. We have not had this caliber of Italian food ever! It is a must! We shared the appetizer which had homemade cheese on top. Mom had the lasagna and I had buffalo dish (can't remember the name, it was a pasta). We also shared the hazel nut and chocolate cheesecake. Yum!!! Our waiter was wonderful and informative. We went all out and it was so worth it!
Amazing fresh pasta, their mussell appetizer is also out of this world!
Our favorite place for lunch with kids in half moon bay. Food is great and tables are spacious.
We held our wedding reception at Pasta Moon, it was absolutely fabulous. Our guests are still talking about the food and how much they loved the venue.
Love the food..servers are friendly and professional
So my husband and son took me out for my birthday. We ve always loved this restaurant but this was the first time since they moved into the new place. It is truly lovely...open, large and very well appointed. I had the lasagna with home sausage, my husband had a pasta dish with lots of seafood and my son ordered the eggplant Parmesan. I m sorry to say but for what we paid the food was sub par. There was hardly any sausage in my dish probably a tablespoon at the most. Plenty of sauce and cheese no sausage. Dennis s eggplant Parmesan was swimming in sauce so that was all you tasted and my husband is sick today with well let s just say he s in the John a lot. Not sure of course if the food did that or not. He said it was so soupy. I loved this place before and it was always a treat to eat there driving from Redwood City it was special. Maybe they are still finding their way maybe the place is too big now and quality has to suffer for quantity but your food has to be really good for us to return. I m sorry for this review and hope you stay open and do well. We may try again later.
Comforting, consistent, over a dozen or so visits and as many years. Works for romantic dining and (well behaved) family dining.
Pricey even for costly Milan, but impeccable authentic quality.
If eating the excellent food at Pasta Moon leave your BMW key out so you might receive actual service. I will preface by stating that I have 20 years restaurant experience. Waitstaff at a Zagat 3 .
Half Moon Bay was a spur decision today...so wife and daughter dressed for beach. Walking into pasta moon the Staff looked upon them like they should be serving them; never have they felt so low. Miguel (wife thinks), the busser, got a larger tip than the bitter blonde who is better than my family. Interaction w/other patrons prove this wasn't a "bad day" issue. Superiority over your customers is NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
We are 40% minimum tippers. We love and understand food service. We now have moved on a different career path. Unnamed 50 y.o. blonde please do the same.
Came with my girlfriend for a Saturday lunch and the place was busy, but not packed. Even then, it took 10 minutes for someone to even get us some water... and another 10-15 minutes for a waiter to arrive (after we asked the wait staff assistant twice to please find us a waiter). I had the Tagliatelle bolognese which was entirely bland and without any flavor.... she had the lasagna which was at least good even though they went a little heavy with the nutmeg or something that gave it almost a sweet flavor.
Two lunch plates and two glasses of wine with some really poor service = $60 and no tip
Delicious food! Great ambiance, spectacular service!
Food was good but was really slow, even though the restaurant was half full.
Great food...had the ribeye. My wife had the butternut squash ravioli. Both dishes were well-prepared...so delicious. Better still was the service. Petra was so personable and attentive. Marco too. God we love this place. Note: my wife and I felt that the bar area was better than the dinning area for meals. It's more spacious, and not as environmentally stuffy. Third time at this restaurant.
The food fantastic, wines excellent, staff highly accommodating, and Kim is the GREATEST HOSTESS!!! Well worth it!!!!
Everyone there was warm, welcoming and attentive - extra acknowledgement to Minor who really made the experience. Food was delicious and the recommended wine a perfect compliment.
Our favorite place for date night in Half Moon Bay. Since the expansion, there are lots of options for atmosphere. Grab a drink at the bar, sit in the main dining area, or get a private room. Food is always fresh, and often locally sourced. The butternut squash ravioli is amazing.
This place has been recommended to me by a friend and I can say we loved it too. The pasta was definitely a winner and the pizza looked amazing too. I was so occupied with my pasta, that I forgot to try it so I have to take my partners vote and can tell you it was excellent. We didn't try any desserts this time around, but would definitely come back for more. See you soon!
Food was good, but the service was slow and though we were told on the phone that everything could be ordered gluten free, once in the restaurant we were disappointed to find out that only about a third of the dishes could be gluten free.
Still, the fetuccini panzzeta were great and also the gluten free pepperoni pizza. :)
Food was amazing. Very large portions for your meal. Most of the people around us were unable to finish their entrees either. Cocktails were on point. The layout and design was very modern and sleek. The offered housemade bread as well as all of their pasta being housemade. Service was acceptable but not out of this world, they were very busy though. Lots of locals in here. It is a bit pricey though. Our tiramisu was a very small portion for the amount we paid.
This is the first time I've ever had to quit eating half way through a meal. The ahi linguini was not fresh and it seemed like the cook comingled the fish oil and vegetable oil for the noodles. The flavors were a tragic let down. My partner ordered the calbrese which was the blandest sausage I've ever had. Both of our dishes could not be saved by pepper. The cocktail something breeze was quite good though. We had been looking forward to trying this place for awhile so it was quite disappointing.
Great pasta and fish. Try the muscle appetizer, it's enough to share. Nice large serving sizes too.
I recently meet two old friends do dinner in Half Moon Bay and choose Pasta Moon partially because our was open on a December Monday night. I was intrigued by the ahi linguini until I realized that the fish was breaded. Who prepares a breaded tuna for a pasta dish?
At any rate, I opted to graze on a caesar salad and calamari while my companions opted to taste some of the other appetizers and small plate dishes. The calamari was prepared perfectly, but everything else was a disappointment.
This is a wonderful venue that it's resting on a previously well deserved reputation. Perhaps this was an off-night, but I won't be rushing back right away.
We had a company lunch here and it was great. The service was excellent (thank you Morgan) food was excellent and the setting was quiet.
Great food and drinks. The pizzas are my favorite, had them served at my wedding as an appetizer and people still rave about them! The restaurant has a good vibe , it's casual while feeling slightly upscale, but no need to dress fancy unless you want to :)
Went here as part of a wedding rehearsal dinner and they put a lot of effort into making us feel welcome. The atmosphere was nice, service amazing, and food delicious!
Don't order the calamari dishes. They are mostly fried onions and lemons. My pasta dish was over cooked.
Excellent food, 3 large groups so service was slow. Quite expensive, but worth it.
My mom and I ate here for thanksgiving and were not impressed by the service and food. Pasta moon had a set menu with a salad, entree, and dessert for $75.
The first foul was when I ordered an espresso and it arrived with butter caked on to the serving plate. It s thanksgiving no point in making a fuss over a little thing.
The second foul was when my mom s turkey dinner arrived. The waiter spilled the turkey drippings from the plate on her lap and didn t notice. The hostess did notice, and brought her an extra napkin.
Third foul was the turkey dinner my mom ordered was cold. The cooks platted her meal first and let it sit out while they cooked my crab and linguine dish. Poor/lazy management by kitchen staff. I know it s the kitchen s fault because my crab and linguine dish was piping hot.
I felt both entrees were underwhelming and the salads were the best part of the set menu. Other parties seemed to be enjoying their meals so maybe you ll get lucky and your entree will be warm.
FYI just because you write two sentences for each item on your menu doesn t make for a better meal.
Excellent Italian fare. Fresh homemade pasta dishes, full of flavor.
Incredible Italian food! I had the Tagliatelle Bolognese and it was superb! Other dishes that were enjoyed included lasagna, spaghetti puttanesca, and the ribeye. All looked delicious.
Everything's made fresh daily very good place to eat large lasagna butternut squash raviolis
A huge sprawling place with lovely ambience for dinner on our coastal wine trip. Lunch was excellent but pricey. The persimmon salad was delicious and so was the complimentary bread. My companions enjoyed the Caesar salad and margarita pizza. The window table was perfect, looking out on some attractive Olive trees. Service was good as well. Impressed that they can keep a place this large open in half Moon Bay.
Dog friendly dog table , delicious food, nice ambiance, nice staff
More expensive than I'd expected going in after a long, cold day at the beach. Everything was absolutely delecious, and all said it was well worth $150 for three people.
Deal with the server staff. We were trying to get some dinner on an impromptu basis with my family and friends from out of town. We entered and we're told they were booked until 9:30pm despite appearing to be empty.
The hostess was a very young girl who looked like she was forced away from her friends at the beach to dress up to be hostess for a high end restaurant. She didn't flinch to quickly say "sorry, we're booked".
We were a bit miffed seeing how few patrons were inside. As we walked away, the head server ran out and said if we wanted to eat right away, he could have us in and out in an hour as a large group reservation was expected. He seemed a bit bothered by the response we were given by the teenage hostess and looked like he was willing to make it up.
We were seated right away and had one of the best dinners we've had in a long time.
I had the Alaskan halibut with potatoes. If was perfectly cooked. Crispy char on the edges while juicy and flaky meat feel off on the slightest fork pressure.
My wife had the pizza with shrimp and avocado. Extremely flavorful, the spicy sauce really made it a nice surprise.
The cocktails were well made with artisanal ingredients. I had a Negroni to cool off. My dad would be proud of the bartender. Those were his ultimate favorite drink. And this one didn't disappoint.
Amazing food amazing service and in downtown Half Moon Bay definitely try it
place has been there for a long time
Nice Italian restaurant in downtown HMB! It is little pricey but the place offers great flavored dishes! We tried some classics like bruschetta, margarita pizza and the lemon chicken! It was yumm indeed! & lastly, service!! It is very courteous & professional and very quick too! We were here in the weekend evening rush with a full house! But didn t wait more than 15 min. We will come here again!
I brought my dog in here! There was one table set aside for dogs. We had clam chowder and pizza and it was delicious. The price was a little expensive.
What a nice, cozy place to grab a tasty pasta dish. Service was good, too. You won't be disappointed!
Beautiful restaurant and ambiance. We had the most amazing anti-pasta platter. The selection of cheeses, meats and fruit were incredible. I wish the entrees were as incredible as the appetizer. I had the clam chowder which still had the clam shells in it. My daughter had the pizza, which was burnt on the crust. The restaurant fills up fast, so I'm sure there are amazing entrees on the menu. We just didn't have the best of luck. Make reservations, this is definitely a local hit.
Delicious and great service we got treated well am satisfied. Thank you!
Good pastas, great wine selection, and an incredibly warm service! The desserts are just as good!
Somehow the pictures for the vibe don't do justice to their actual ambience. It's a lot more warm, inviting and sophisticated. A perfect place for both groups and date nights!
Really enjoyed our visit. Service was excellent and pizza was delicious. Home-made sausage is not to miss!
Very good dinner, with interesting taste combinations. A little noisy.
I had the lasagna which was a large serving enough to feed three. The flavor was not traditional but it was flavorful and, most important for me, not oily/greasy.
The staff was friendly and quick for my take out order. Thank you.
You have to order a pizza as part of your appetizers
Good experience. Pasta is a must, salad is fresh but steak was ok.
The only place for improvement is a restroom, sorry to mention it, but it's important for complete experience. Hand soap smells horrific and remind it me of my hospital soap. Also few updates necessary in the bathroom. Thanks
Very nice and relaxing! Food is great, service is great!
THE EXPERIENCE WAS TERRIFIC!!!!! The environment was amazing and there was great tasting food. I would recommend the Pasta Moon Lasagna !! The price you could say it is a bit expensive but for the quality of the food and service, its definitely worth every penny !! If you want someone to attend you and be very aware of your needs id recommend to get served by Jacob !!
We had our wedding dinner here. The food is PHENOMENAL! We make sure to visit at least once a year just to eat here.
Great place for 30 years in Half Moon Bay in new, much larger venue.
Lots and lots of EPIC food!!! Not just pasta! (get the Italian chard with the steak!!!!!)
Love this place so much! The decorations and atmosphere are modern& chic. All the pastas are just wonderful! We had the daily special crab linguine which is awesome. Definitely will go again next time.
Pasta Moon shines in the new location! Fragrance of wood smoke as you enter the open space filled with light, still excellent Italian food. This is my kind of pizza - quality toppings on a thin crisp crust. And the butterscotch pudding is scary good.
Very nice restaurant, beautiful interior with large glass windows facing the street. Started off with the ceaser salad, made with home made sauce and 2 anchovies. The crispy brussel sprouts were interesting although only brussel leaves, made me want the actual full sprout. Then had pizza and pastas which all were great.
I just had the best gluten free pizza, the crust was chewie, perfect texture, the edges were crispy brown, I'll come back to try more of the delicious choices, service was great, friendly patrons, all in all a winner!!
Fantastic meal, we had a housemade pasta with vidalia onions, the tomato nectarine and baccata pasta, and the berry shortcake. All of it was worth every penny but especially the shortcake. Yum!
We had a solid dinner at pasta moon. My girlfriend had the tagliatelle tiger prawns and I had the special smoked linguine and scallops. They were both delicious with interesting flavor combinations. The lasagna looked to be quite good and we heard people remarking at how delicious it was.
We were looking for vegan, which was not in the menu but they happily prepared pasta primavera with our preferred veggies!
I liked everything here. Ate once a week for 6 years. Gained 10 lbs LOL!!!
Business meeting. Had a variety of small bites. The appatizer pizza was great as was the Ahi. The lasagna was good.
