Not having to wear glasses has been life changing. I've been wearing glasses since the age of 3 and I'm surprised by how quickly I've adjusted to glasses free life. I'm glad I made this decision and I look forward to perfect vision. Thank you!

As someone with -11 in vision, I was not qualified for LASIK at all doctors consulted. I was excited to have been refered to PAL and Dr. Chynn, who had surgical experience with patients in the -20s. It s only been one week post-op for me and still in recovery, but already getting excited over the fact of being able to navigate around the house without glasses! Will post final results in the next months!

I suffered from astigmatism and wore glasses for 20 years. I considered getting laser eye surgery for quite some time but was skeptical about the procedure; this was a mix of fear, the fact that I'm prone to keloids scarring, and not being informed about Lasek. I did my research by watching vlogs on YouTube of people who got laser eye surgery, laser eye surgery specialist reviews, and reading on forums about Lasik, Lasek, PRK, epi-Lasek, SMILE, etc. and came to the conclusion that I really wanted to do this. I got the Lasek procedure done 3 weeks ago and I couldn't be any happier. This has been one of the best decisions I've made in my life. It's not magic by any means, you must follow all the instructions you're given, sleep a lot or keep your eyes shut for the first few days, take all of your medications/eyedrops, and be extremely patient. My vision prior to surgery was 20/100, on the day of the surgery my vision was corrected to 20/30, a week later it improved to 20/25, and last week I made it to 20/20! Dr. Chynn and Dr. Dovzhuk are great at what they do, they are very professional and knowledgeable. I truly appreciate them answering all of my (and my wife's) questions promptly through the WhatsApp group they created for me. This is so convenient, I don't have to call the office to ask a simple question or wait till the next day to get a response. Dr. Chynn is very blunt, this can be perceived as rude (as some of the reviews say here). However, I really like that he's brutally honest and doesn't beat around the bush. I can tell he's a perfectionist and wants to make sure that all of his staff can deliver up to his standards. Thank you so much for this amazing journey, I'm so grateful for Park Avenue Lasek. You guys rock!!!!

Dr. Chynn is the best Ophthamologist I've ever seen and I've been wearing eyeglasses since 1968.
He is very articulate and patient about explaining procedures and how the eye works. He took the time to get my history and to listen to my questions. He asked me to describe in detail what I was seeing and experiencing with my vision. He then examined my eyes and I felt confident he knew what to look for. Dr. Chynn is upbeat and reassuring, whereas previous eye doctors were the opposite.
I got Lasek surgery here. The surgery was painless and perfectly executed. My vision is now at least as good as it was with contacts prior to surgery, 20/20. I am very satisfied with the results of the operation and the price of the procedure. Recovery was as expected, medications were thoroughly explained and delivered to me through Capsule with no pharmacy visits for me (huge benefit), and communication was made easy with WhatsApp. Dr. Chynn is very honest and ensures that his patients are thoroughly prepared and understand their procedure and the recovery process. He utilizes his business degree to provide great deals to the patient and create a culture of constant improvement and feedback in the office. Potential patients should plan to spend a few hours in the office when you visit, because there is usually some wait time as the doctors take time to discuss thoroughly with each patient. My one suggestion for Dr. Chynn is to continue to work on how he delivers feedback to his fellows and office employees, perhaps privately or framed positively so the patient feels comfortable observing that interaction. That being said, I did see Doctor/employee relationships improve over the course of my visits to the office, so I do see that Dr. Chynn himself is receptive to feedback. Overall great experience and would recommend to anyone considering laser eye surgery!
I was legally blind at -7 until I decided to get Lasek. With amazing results, I no longer need glasses or contacts. Oh...Dr. Chynn also fixed my reading vision.

Hi! This is Ari, I got my LASEK which is the safest and most advanced non-cutting procedure(unlike LASIK) that got rid of my gas permeable contacts. I had keratoconous with extreme prescription. Surgery and recovery went excellent. Love the staff! Now at more than 6 mths my vision is 20/20. Highly recommended.
LASEK is a newer, safe ,non-cutting version of LASIK that Dr. help invent when he was at Harvard, that he s performed more LASEKs than any other surgeon in the US, he s been on Discovery channel &The NY Times, my mom has taken LASEK surgery over 11 years ago and encouraged me to do it cause I had really bad eye sight. I had -12.0 prescription with a lazy eye and Dr.chynn was able to correct my eyes with a near painless recovery.

I am about 2 weeks post-op, I see pretty well. Fluctuating visions. extreme dry eyes and eye pains so far.

CLINIC:
-Dirty
-DOG inside the clinic. the dog runs out everywhere, sitting on the cushions, .. it just screams unhygienic.
-Eye exam machines are off the side in this tiny cramped area covered by 2 curtains.
-Bathroom / Locker together
-Old furniture
DOCTOR:
Doctor Chynn, yells at his staff WHILE I am talking to his staff.
So here I am, standing in front of them uncomfortably with my question still unanswered.
The other doctor barely speaks English. I hate being rude about someone's English skills, but if you are a doctor giving me medical advice.. I need to understand what I'm being told. No excuses.
Post Op, when my vision was so poor, all I wanted to hear was "Don't worry this is all normal, your healing is going along well"
is it so hard to make me feel comfortable?
I'm not a doctor, I don't know what is normal or not.
instead they say "put more eye drops" or "come in the office"
It only adds to my frustration and anxiety.
PRICE
price is extremely high. again, for such a run-down facility, I would think they need to offer extreme discounts, but it is actually 50-80% more expensive than other, cleaner, friendlier, calming clinics.
CONCLUSION
Unhygienic, Rude, Non-English speaking staff, Dog running around, non-informative, expensive mess.

I have been working with Dr. Chynn to get Lasek for the past 18 months. This review is completely honest and transparent:
What Dr. Chynn lacks in agreeability in his personality, he makes up for in being the best at what he does. The reason he drills in your brain that you MUST follow the instructions post-op is because, if you do, and if you do everything you're supposed to pre-op, you will see almost perfectly within a week and no longer have dry eyes, and you will see perfectly within a month.
You do not go to a doctor to become best friends with the surgeon - you go for the one who is the best at what they do. You may not get along with him, but he will get you from Point A to Point B with LASEK, and if you do everything he tells you to, it will turn out perfectly.
I had LASEK eye surgery 2 months ago and it was the best decision I have ever made. I wore glasses my whole life up until 2 months ago and I was hesitant on getting surgery since it is a life changing decision. The staff and Dr. Chynn are very helpful and reassure that everything will be okay. I had a very high prescription difference between both eyes and I can now see 20/20. I am glad I made this decision and would definitely recommend.
After researching different forms of laser eye procedures I got Lasek surgery here in 2016. I chose Park Avenue because they perform Lasek non cutting procedure. This procedure is similar to PRK but newer, which is different from Lasik. Look into the differences, and the advantages are clear. My advice would be to follow all the directions, I spent much time resting after the procedure, as directed, and I believe this was very beneficial. After two years my vision is better than 20/20, and I am pleased with the outcome.
I am three months post op and my vision went from 20/400 to 20/15 without glasses or contacts. The procedure itself was fast with minimal discomfort. My vision improved immediately after the procedure and has progressively gotten even better over the three months. The best part for me was that this procedure did not cut a flap into my eye. If you re looking to get your vision corrected, you will not want to go anywhere else!

Got my LASEK done here and results are amazing. My wife and a friend got theirs done several years ago and love the lifestyle change it brought so I decided to go for it this summer. As a teacher i really appreciate Dr. Chynn s very detailed instructions a long the way. Dr. D was also very helpful with me for everything i needed.

It's important to note why I chose this office. Dr. Chynn actually helped to invent LASEK when he was at Harvard! And since he's performed more procedures than any other surgeon, it was pretty much a no brainer for me! He's now treated my Keratoconus and I couldn't be happier!

I met Dr. Chynn while out cycling (the dude can ride!). Had no idea what he did but one thing led to another and I went to his clinic for a professional visit. I liked that 1) there was no hard selling what-so-ever and 2) he didn't give me "family & friend" discount. Why #2? Professional integrity. It leaves zero ambiguity around the relationship; from the moment I set foot in his clinic I am a client and he's my doctor. Others might feel differently but I prefer clarity rather than "you're-my-friend-I'm-your-friend", "back-o-the-ally, under-the-table" type of dealing, especially when it comes to medical care.
On to the main topic. The care that I received was top-notch. Now, I only have 1 pair of eyes so obviously I'm not comparing it to anything else. I'm basing my review on 1) they prepared me mentally extremely well for what was required of the patient post-op. And 2) they responded with extreme immediacy when I went cycling too soon post-op and suffer a set back when a debris flew into my eye. Could've been a really bad situation but because I was seen immediately, my fully-recovered vision was not affected.
These days, I'm seeing 20/20+ (4 years post-op) and it was truly life changing. If you're considering LASIK/LASEK, do go in and talk to Emil and his team. Listen to what they tell you, comply with their instructions, and you'll come away with 20/20 vision plus a whole ton of knowledge about your vision health. If learning and information scares you, stay home and keep your glasses. Don't waste anyone's time.
P.S. Full disclosure, Emil and I remain friends to this day and we still cycle together from time to time.

Greatest decision of my life!
I had LASEK done about two years ago this location. My vision is now ~ 20/15! I'm very pleased with the outcome. Positive note: I had an issue with a discount program offered through my company, and Dr. Chynn still honored that price.
After having LASIK done 10 years ago, I recently began experiencing a reduction in the acuity of my left eye. Upon exploring updated laser eye surgery techniques, I found Dr. Chynn's Park Avenue LASEK office offering just what I was looking for. An updated, modern and safer procedure often with
better results.
I am currently undergoing a second contact lens trial in order to dial in the exact parameters I want with my correction. Dr. Chynn and his staff have been exceptional in detailing each step of the process, the options I have and how to get the best outcome possible. The future is looking bright!
UPDATE: I went through with the procedure for my left eye and have had my vision restored! The actual surgery was virtually painless and even the recovery period was more inconvenient than anything else. I cannot compliment the staff enough for taking me through each and every phase of the journey and I thank them for all of my success!
Dr. Chynn has been nothing short of amazing. He was able to comfort me financially by offering me financing but more importantly, he accepted my insurance to cover a lot of the cost. I was so happy with the service because the doctors are so smart and well informed. The dog was so cute. He snuggled up next to me and make me happy. I came in for my three week post op and I sometimes stay longer than I want but I'm always happy with the service.
If not the top, at minimum one of the best surgeons in the US. Dr. Chynn does the latest and more importantly safer procedure for vision correction "LASEK". I personally recomend him to my friends and family.
I'm getting my LASEK here today and so far my experience has been good. I will update more post-procedure.
