Dr Chynn and the team performed my LASEK surgery in August and I have experienced great results so far. My vision started at -8, which is pretty high, and the team has been very dedicated throughout and after the procedure to ensure that my eyes continue recovering smoothly for the long run.
It is an amazing thing to see 20/20 again. I was very nervous about it, but the whole staff was amazing and very supportive! Dr. chynn walked me through every detail, which was very helpful. I recommend it to everybody! Don t be scared!

If I had to share the best decision Ive done for my SELF was choosing Park Ave Lasek and Dr Chynn to give me what I have been dreaming to have since I was little. I have been wearing glasses since I was in 2nd grade, and contacts since 6th grade, and my prescription of NEGATIVE 9 has always been a burden on my day to day life.
What I love most and appreciate whole heartedly about Dr Chynn is his bluntness and perfectionism. Lets not forget, Dr Chynn is dealing with your EYES, the delicate gift of vision is not something to be dealt with lightly, and I must say I have been to doctors that did not make me feel secure simply because it did not seem so delicate to them.
I have to also note, my cornea was way to thin for Lasik, so my only option at the time was PRK and that has been the biggest reason I waited so long to research other options... but again I am SO grateful that I found Park Ave Lasek.
The procedure, the team, the visits, everything in total has been and still is a very comforting and exciting experience. I have better than 20/20 vision today, something I couldnt imagine having 5 months ago.

Before and after surgery, I got well-rounded instructions and detailed checklist to assist me not to miss any step or confused about anything.
The follow-up care after surgery is also planned in a professional and prudent manner. A friendh whad Lasik at a different clinic told me that she never had follow-up care after surgery. I think this is a huge Plus for ParkAveLasek.
What's also wonderful is that Dr. Chynn is very generous with his time answering my questions about Lasek, a safer and more advanced technology than Lasik. He made sure that all my concerns were addressed and that I have peace of mind.
My recovery is faster than I expected and I am very happy that I am free from glasses now. I have recommended this clinic to my coworkers and friends.
Had my LASEK surgery here around two years ago. The process was super easy and my vision is great now!
Lasek is a non cutting version of lasik and is much better because they don t cut your cornea in half! Actually there s no cutting at all and the surgeon Dr Chynn at Park Avenue Lasek invented this procedure while he was in Harvard! Dr Chynn had performed more Laseks in the United States and he s been on the discovery channel, New York Times, and many television shows! The staff was also very helpful and treated me great!
It's still early to say my vision is not at it's peak at the moment.

Please do yourself a favor and READ THIS in its entirety BEFORE seeking Dr Emil Chynn's services at Park Avenue Lasek. Avoid this Doctor at all cost. Here are the reasons: They will do everything to lure you into making an appointment. Nevertheless, the staff is rude, the doctor treats his employees with disrespect, even charging them cash for simple errors that they may make and that's why every time you get a different person. He curses at his interns and is extremely disrespectful to them in the presence of the patients. It makes me nervous to read the things I see about Dr Chynn. I should have done better research prior to my THREE surgeries / AKA enhancements for which I had to pay. Under his care, due to negligence I was prescribed eye mediation in a subsequent surgery that I had already shown allergic reactions to. I had terrible reaction and it was horrible experience. Do not believe the supposed positive reviews here on Google. Dr Chynn REQUIRES patients to write FAVORABLE REVIEWS Prior to surgery in order to get DISCOUNTS. THESE 4/5 star reviews are either fake, paid or "compensation" to existing patients in exchange of a discount for the actual surgery. Very disappointing. Very scary. Avoid this place like the plague.

I got my eyes fix their almost a year ago I never wore glasses before until I got about 50 then I started wearing reading glasses So I saw the doctor's office while doing a job I met with them they looked at my eyes they said for this amount of money we can fix your stuff they were very nice everybody's nice so after the surgery the 1st 2 months I can't even drive my vision is horrible so I go back my 4th time 4 months later inspection they give me a prescription for glasses so now it's been about 8 months my vision is horrible I believe after the holidays I'll go somewhere and get glasses So that's my review of the lasik surgery I received at park Avenue lasik ..horrible...3/24/19 .. My husband had LASEK surgery with doctor Chynn the day after Xmas 2018. We were really really nervous because you never know what can happen even though there's great reviews. Plus we own a Video Production company and my husband is the senior video editor, his eyes are everything! But my husband was tired of wearing contacts and glasses. His prescriptions were so high and we kept spending money between glasses and contacts every time the prescription changed. And I couldn't stand seeing my hubby getting completely shut down whenever the migraines would attack. It was getting really bad. My husband had a prescription of -8 and -7.
When my co worker told me her husband had eye surgery to correct his myopia at Park Avenue LASEK, I immediately researched them from top to bottom. I found some funny and crazy stories about Dr. Chynn's personality and stuff, but what I was mostly interested was how good of an eye surgeon he was. He is really good at his craft. Hands down!

It's been a more than a month and my husband can already see 20/20. I've never seen him so happy. The migraines are gone. For him it has been a life changing experience. His dream is to go back to the Great Canyon and experience it with his new eyes because it's not the same with glasses. You can never see everything perfectly.
One thing though, you MUST follow the instructions, read everything, ask multiple questions because although I love his staff, they are very caring and nice, they're not the best communicators. Just ask and they will answer all your questions.
I did LASEK procedure two months ago. Today I received my graduation certificate to celebrate my new vision. My original vision was OD -1.5 and OS -2 with some astigmatism. I love the results of my LASEK surgery. Dr.Chynn fixed my vision (-3.5) and I can now do activities without my glasses bothering me. Dr. Chynn is the best ophthalmologist, he LASEK'd me 6 months ago even with NYSTAGMUS (rapid eye movement or dancing eyes) which no other surgeon could... LASEK surgery was a success. I had bad depth perception prior to surgery I couldn't catch a "ball" when playing sports, due to my lazy eye. I'm starting to see better with my lazy eye (amblyopia) . thanks to Dr. Chynn he's really nice and will answer all your question through SMS at anytime. he even answered my questions on a holiday weekend!

The staff was very welcoming and they were very clear. They answered all the questions I had clearly. The procedure was painless and I didn't feel a thing. The resting period was the hardest part but after a week my vision was great. I still have the habit of doing the motion of pushing up my glasses even though I'm not wearing any. Overall, great experience.

While posting this review, I noticed some negative reviews from people who never got lasered and also from people who were going to Dr. Chynn for pink eye or something not serious, complaining about the staff not clearing their insurance before coming in. This is unfair because a doctor shouldn't receive bad reviews based on staff inefficiencies. Dr. Chynn corrects his MDs because they are in training so it is his job to do so to

My procedure with Dr. Chynn was painless and quick. He is a perfectionist so he can be on his employees sometimes... but it is for the patients benefits so I get it.
I had a great experience with Dr. Chynn at Park Avenue Lasek although I understand other people's reviews. Some people might be turned off by Dr. Chynn's personality and how he interacts with staff, but the guy is clearly brilliant as evidenced by his impressive resume (Dartmouth, Harvard, Columbia, Emory, NYU). He is a bit of a perfectionist and is always on his staff 24/7 correcting any mistakes they might make to ensure that you have a perfect visual outcome.
For Dr. Chynn optimal outcomes are the most important thing, which is how it should be. For example, he came up with the ingenious idea of creating an SMS or WhatsApp group for all patients, where his entire staff and himself are in the group with the patient and any caregivers. That way, if you have any questions in your postop recovery period all you have to do is text the group, get the answer from his staff, and he can monitor the answers and add more detail if necessary (as happened with me). It s much easier to communicate via text in this day and age than have to constantly call the doctor s office. As a healthcare professional I recognize and appreciate the many protocols and systems that Dr. Chynn has spent extraordinary time putting into place to ensure optimal outcomes.
I chose Park Ave Lasek based on recommendations from coworkers and friends who had gotten Lasek done through Dr. Chynn and they had nothing but good things to say. Note that the vast majority of negative reviews are from people who never proceeded with the surgery, which is like putting up a negative restaurant review when you didn't like the greeter so never bothered to dine there and sample the food. Ultimately what matters is the long term health of your eyes (you only have two after all and seeing is kind of important) both in regards to vision and lack of side effects. Towards that goal you want the most competent and experienced doctor you can find and Dr. Chynn fits the bill.

I've wanted to have eye surgery since I was a teenager but my eyes used to dry out and I was later told that made me ineligible for Lasik. However, a coworker of mine had LASEK with Dr. Chynn and she recommended him. Since the first visit, I was excited to find out that I was, in fact, eligible and a good candidate. Less than a month later I was having my LASEK surgery and not only do I now have perfect vision but my eyes no longer get dry especially in the spring and summer. I would recommend Park Avenue Lasek to anyone especially those told they could not have traditional Lasik.

Dr Chynn fixed my eyes after 25yrs of not being able to see in showers, during swims, on rollercoaster rides and when waking up in the middle of the night being unable to tell if a pile of clothes was an intruder.
The office is unique, as you will get to experience complete strangers watching your surgery through a glass window on street level like a tattoo shop. While this may seem unusual, even sketchy, I soon realized the benefits of this - it not only allows the public to see that this surgery is not scary or dangerous, but adds a level of accountability to the Dr Chynn and gives you the shortest distance to be walked out of the office by your companion once you are blinded post- surgery. Its also free advertising - something Dr Chynn loves and you will be strongly encouraged to provide through social media posts and, uh, yelp reviews.
Healing from LASEK is no joke. Be prepared to sleep for the first 3 days after surgery as you won't be allowed to open your eyes anyway, followed by another 2 weeks of dry itchy pain where you question your life choices and pretend that you aren't terrified you made a mistake and blinded yourself permanently. Slowly, things come into focus (literary) and you can finally see.
Dr Chynn isn't the warmest man Ive ever met, but he doesn't need to be. He's there to provide a service which he does well. His bedside manner and curtness with his staff is their own business, I'm assuming they are there of their own free will and can quit/leave if they desire to do so. This being said the staff are welcoming, attentive and kind, even if they are also following the script of pushing you for free advertising through Yelp reviews (like this one) in exchange for discounts, and are extremely pushy at your initial appointment. My experiences with elective surgery have all been similar to this - a free consultation isn't exactly free, they're hoping to make a customer of you, not just provide free evaluations out of the kindness of their hearts. This is annoying but expected.
I recommend this business, because I'm typing this 3 weeks post op without glasses and that's what I paid for. My eyes get better every day, and are already back to where they were with my glasses. They are still dry and easily irritated, but its my understanding this is normal for all PKR/LASIK/LASEK surgery since I paid a man to melt off the outer coating of my eyes then shoot a laser into them only 3 weeks ago.

I looked around for a the best vision correction option for me around NYC at a few centers and chose Park Avenue LASEK after doing some research and learning that LASEK is safer and overall might be a much better option than LASIK. I'm normally very anxious when it comes to any kind of medical procedure but was comforted during my first appointment with dr chynn when he answered all of my hundreds of questions. So i was referred by my friend into having a free surgery consultation. This was the best decision i have made in 2019. I had my LASEK surgery done by Dr. Chynn in January 2019, and not only was he accommodating financially, but I recovered and was seeing 20/20 with 3 DAYS - SIMPLY BY CAREFULLY FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS. I cannot stress this enough, to have a successful LASEK procedure, use your drops as instructed, follow directions carefully, do not cheap out on the humidifier, a few days of recovery means 20/20 vision for a lifetime.

I would recommend this practice for a number of reasons. The practice's mascot is a borzoi - Russian royalty. Dr. Chynn graduated top of his class from ivy league. He's a certified genius. Truth be told, if it wasn't for his seemingly apathetic personality, he'd have 5 stars on yelp.

Lasek is a safer non cutting version of lasik that Dr Chynn helped invent when he was at Harvard, he's performed more laser eye surgeries than any other surgeon in the US!!! First off, Dr. Chynn is an incredible doctor. Within the first few minutes of walking into the office to check in with reception, Dr. Chynn, who was standing near the reception check-in, quickly diagnosed that I was blinking far too often and ended up putting small plugs in my eyes to alleviate the problem. I've been seeing eye doctors for the past 20+ years and Dr. Chynn was the first and only doctor to ever identify and solve my hyper-blinking issue.
As far as eye exams, the office staff + Dr. Chynn were efficient at checking my eyes and providing me with a new prescription for both contact lenses and glasses.
Dr. Chynn is also very friendly and I love that there's usually a dog in the office!
A few months later, I ended up going back for a LASEK appointment. I was impressed that Dr. Chynn offers the most modern and efficient laser correction - making me feel very comfortable to get the procedure done at Park Ave. Lasek. What was most impressive, however, is the unique method in which Dr. Chynn communicates with patients - he creates a WhatsApp group with himself and the entire office staff for you to message if you have any questions. I love the WhatsApp group since it completely eliminates the need to call the office/leave messages and I've gotten very prompt responses (within the hour) from either Dr. Chynn or someone on his team whenever I've asked a question.
I am so thankful for Dr. Chynn - he is a brilliant doctor. If you're considering booking an appointment here, do not hesitate! He is the BEST!
Dr. Chynn and his fellows are simply amazing! Everything step was clearly explained and they made themselves more than accessible through the WhatsApp group. I am now on week 3 of recovery and I am already so excited for the end results! I no longer have any discomfort and it is truly up to the patient to follow the instructions very carefully. I ve worn glasses since the first grade and contacts since age 16. I was a little apprehensive as a surgeon myself but got my vision corrected by Dr. Chynn 5 weeks ago. I m 20/20 vision (immediately) and have no more dry eyes!!! I was told by other places I was a bad candidate as I had a very high prescription as well as astigmatism. To do Lasek in this center was my best decision. Dr. Chynn and all the staff are very professional, they provide excellent service and care. I couldn t be more happy! Moreover, this is the only center which lets patients contact the surgeon 24/7 any day of the year. I asked for advice on weekend in very late time, almost midnight and got the immediate response and help. This is impressive and truly appreciated! I searched many clinics and couldn t find any better than Park Avenue Lasek. This one is the best, I mean it. During all the consultations and tests they gave me full instructions and explained to me each and every little step and everything I needed and wanted to know. I asked many questions about the process of surgery and pre- and post-operation steps and got all the answers. I was told to use artificial tears and not to wear contacts for a week before test and also before surgery. The operation went very well, it was absolutely painless and it took only 65 seconds per eye (it depends on your prescription, mine was negative 5.5). Dr. Chynn and Dr. Dovzhuk took the best care of me before, during and after surgery, and Dr. Guo did great job doing the testing a week before my Lasek. I m satisfied more than 100%. This is my second month update after my surgery. It s one of the best decision I ve ever made. Dr Chynn can be hard on his employees at times but that s his way of teaching them. Kind of like tough love. Some might get intimidated by it but he knows what he s doing and the best at it!
I can now see 20/20 and even better!!! I was worried at first because the first two weeks my eyes were blurry and my right eye was blurrier than my left, but they assured me that it was normal. My eyes were a little drier than the average person and also I sometimes sleep with my eyes open so the healing process was not as fast. They prescribed me extra stuff for my dry eyes and also made it possible for me to go snowboarding only two weeks after surgery.
All in all the experience with them was amazing. If you re thinking of doing it, do it at park ave Lasek!!

Got my surgery done here after my brother's 5 years ago, he has raving reviews and I'm in the middle of recover myself, surgery was quick and the staff is excellent with supporting the recovery etc. Vision is already so much better and set to continue to improve. Would definitely suggest getting it done if it's been on your mind.
I was schedualed to fly to NY from UT, to get my vision fixed by one and only Dr. Chynn at Park Avenue Lasek. I did very extensive research on the place to trust with my vision and not only Park Avenue Lasek was recommended by a friend who had her surgery done couple of years ago but also Dr.Chynn is #1 eye surgeon in the country, so it was an obvious choice for me. Unfortunately because of my work schedule I had to cancel my surgery, and Park Avenue Lasek office gave me my non refundable deposit back without hesitation. That only proves to me how professional and understanding they are. I very much look forward to get my surgery done at some point this year.
I got my Lasek surgery with Dr. Chynn 8 years ago and I am still 20/15 (better than perfect vision). I always claim this experience to be the best money I've spent. Aside from dryness in the morning that can be resolved with gel drops and drinking more water, there is absolutely nothing wrong with my eyesight. Dr. Chynn has great "bedside" manners and his instructions are very clear. Generally, the staff is nice. They need a little more work in greeting patients instead of just telling me to sit down. Didn't really appreciate a huge dog sitting on one of the couches in the waiting room. Overall, THE best use of my money.

The worse experience in my life. Witnessing abuse/bulling against his staff in front of patients because of mistakes when I paid to be treated by Dr. Chynn. Had to wait for over 3 hours. During the procedure the Dr. didn t even greet me or talked to me. He left the room. Another staff member placed eye drops after the procedure. I was forced to sign forms & take pictures of form I couldn t read or clearly understand instructions. later during a confrontation with the doctor regarding my dissatisfaction. I was told that clinic was a training facility and I had to put up with Dr Chynn s method of teaching or else. The post procedure medications & various drops to take is a puzzle and had to find outside help to read & try to make sense of it. I never asked to be treated any different. I only asked to be spared from having to witness the abuse toward his staff. Basically the Dr told me I had to put up with his poor bedside manners & arrogance or leave... of course after I had paid thousands of dollars. I would not recommend this Dr to anyone. Last but not least, my vision is as bad as before the procedure. I m supposed to return for a follow up, but the thought of it makes me anxious/nauseous. Hopefully They will provide a copy of my record so I can seek a real professional & hope my vision can be improved.
My husband had a LASEK done yesterday at this place. Honestly, I was nervous more than him. But right from the first appointment, we felt very welcomed and comfortable. The staff is amazing and helpful (who else would provide you with personal cell phones?!), the doctor has tons of experience (not even one negative review!), and the procedure done fast and safe. It's only the first day after the LASEK but my husband feeling great, nothing bothers him, the vision is already better than was originally and only going to improve within next week. Dr. Chynn helped me with my keratoconus because his office does cross-linking, and also LASEK. You cannot have LASIK which is cutting surgery if you have keratoconus. You can sometimes have LASEK.
To achieve great results with the new safer, Non cutting version of LASEK surgery, it would be best to get this surgery at Park Avenue Laser Vision with Dr. Chynn.

Coming in to this place I wanted to explore different options for eye correction surgery - being a filmmaker, my eyes are critical for my career and my lifestyle. So when I first came in here, I was so nervous obviously. some of the doctors didn't have the best english language and i had to ask them to repeat a few words but i got everything at the end of the day. they were super informative and answered all the questions i had. Dr Chynn made a few comments as he was walking by about them talking back to him. I thought that was a little weird but I understand that he was just trying to educate them on being proper. The dog was so cute, a therapy dog. I gave it pets. I learned a lot about the surgery and how LASEK is the safest option on the market. I put down a deposit and got my eyes examined. Honestly I liked it here and I had a really good experience overall. I can't wait to get my surgery. I thought Dr Chynn was incredibly kind - he explained to me that the fellows are from different countries and they're the best from where they're from.
I m an ophthalmologist in New Jersey who can vouch for Dr. Chynn s technique and experience in laser vision correction. I have done research with him and have been impressed by how so many of his patients have achieved 20/20 or better vision. Because of my confidence in him, I brought my wife from NJ to his office to have her vision corrected. I believe Dr. Chynn s technique is best for her, because it s noncutting, resulting in a thicker and stronger cornea than with LASIK. This is especially important for my wife, since her high nearsightedness required more laser treatment than most people. Making a LASIK flap would have weakened her cornea too much, causing problems in the future. Having done >20,000 cases, Dr. Chynn is most experienced in LASEK, and I highly recommend him.

Just had my LASEK surgery last Thursday (3/5), thanks to the professionalism of Dr. Chynn and his team, the whole process was very clearly explained and went smoothly.
As any surgery on the eyes are no small matter, I went into consultation nervously with a lot of questions. Dr. Chynn and his staff patiently explained every stage: from how to prepare for the operations, what to expect during the operation, and most importantly how to care for myself after operation by providing a detailed instruction sheet listing what meds (and when) to take to ensure a speedily recovery for best results. I'm especially appreciated the follow-up call to make sure I'm following the post-ops procedure properly, and that Dr. Chynn was always available to answer my questions even on a Sunday while he was on vacation.
Financially, they were also very flexible accepting many insurances to help lowering the surgery cost.
My wife is scheduled for the same LASEK surgery later this month; I'm comfortable to know that she is in good hands.

Five stars all the way! Having had successful Lasek (Park Avenue Lasek s (PAL) safer, non-cutting laser surgery) on my own eyes several years ago and gone from being extremely near sighted 20/200 in both eyes to better than 20/20 (20/15 to be precise). I recommended it to my friend Robert. He had issues with both his distance and near vision with his sight being worse than mine. The team of Dr. Chynn and the two other full time ophthalmologist, Dr. Dovzhuk and Dr. Ingle performed the surgery and Robert s vision is now likewise excellent.
There were two reasons that Robert chose to come all of the way from his home in Southern California to NYC to have the team at PAL perform his surgery: First, LASEK is safer than Lasik or any other form of laser eye surgery because no flap is cut into the epithelium of the eyeball to enable the laser corrections of the cornea, which means that the procedure is much safer as well as more precise. Second, PAL is the only laser vision center in the US where patients are treated by a team of MD s, all ophthalmologists, not just a single surgeon and remainder of team being either or both optometrists and surgical assistants/technicians.
Amazingly, thanks to Dr. Chynn having successfully performed the surgery on over 20,000 patients and having an office dedicated to laser surgery and not having to cut a flap, PAL s LASEK procedure is cost competitive with Lasik. Dr. Chynn and his team can even treat patients whose poor vision renders them unable to get the riskier Lasik, where as previously stated, the flap may become detached and lead to eye problems anytime after the initial Lasik is performed. These are the reasons patients come from all over the US and even overseas to get Dr. Chynn s safer, more precise LASEK.

I had non cutting safer lasek about 2 months ago and my eyesight is 20/15 already , better than 2020. Coming into this I didn t know which lasek surgery I wanted. But I m glad I came here. The people who work here are very nice. I asked a lot of questions and this guy basically told me everything about how it works. And I was very Intrigued. The process only took about 1 minute each eye.
I had my procedure performed on 9/20/19. The care prior to, up to and after the procedure have been great. Dr. Chynn is extremely knowledgeable and open to making you a part of the process, answering questions and making himself available via WhatsApp to address any issues/inquiries. I was a patient here and I honestly enjoyed the experience. I got LASEK because it was clearly the best option out there. It's the safest, and doesn't have any of the permanent sideffects that LASIK has. And the procedure doesn't involve any cutting (NO FLAPS, and NO FLAP COMPLICATIONS). This is something that makes Park Avenue LASEK stand out, because they don't do ANY cutting procedures. It's clear that they take pride and effort in being one of a kind. They had a fully glass operating room, and even encouraged me to bring a companion with me to watch the procedure. They also made a group chat with me and all of the doctors so I could ask my questions whenever I want!! Dr. Chynn is a great surgeon and was always very respectful when talking to me. He did get a bit strict with his staff, especially one of the doctors there (Dr. Dovzhuk). But I really appreciated that because he's clearly just trying to get the best out of them by becoming more perfectionistic. Plus, wouldn't you want a perfectionist doctor working on your eyes?
I am a doctor my self (Internal Medicine Doctor) and my vision is basically everything in my life . I choosed Park Avenue because I want to do laser surgery in the safest way possible . Park avenue is the only clinic in Ny that they do non cut laser correction. Today is almost one month and i see great . The surgeon and the staff are so professional, they respond always and they place you on Whatsapp chat where you can reach them 24/7 in case of emergency. I choosed the Diamond Package with epi-Lasek, is the best type where there is absolutely no pain just feeling uncomfortable only for the first 2 days. It's almost one month and i believe I did the right choice.

I got LASEK performed four months ago, and my eyes are getting better each day. My prescription is really high at -9 so I didn t feel comfortable getting LASIK because it would cut off too much of the cornea. I can currently see better than 20/20 thanks to Dr. Chynn. Very exciting!
Had some issues with my pressure but they worked with me to get it down and eased my concerns. Currently 20/20 with no issues.
