Paratransit services Review

Service is awful some of the drivers are nice but arriving an hour early is not ideal, waiting outside for a ride when a place closes when you have a 3 year old is a terrible experience. The 5minute approximate is a courtesy so you don’t always get one so you have to rush to make sure you have everything you need. A few of the drivers are rude beyond belief and will berate you. The service is difficult to work with and the ride will sometimes say it’s there when it’s not and even if it’s not there that’s when your 5 minute grace period starts. If I can avoid using it I will and that’s coming from someone with severe mental/ mental health issues without a car. Wish me luck on finding or affording an alternative way to get around because I can’t do this anymore.

Average wait time to schedule appointments is about 4 hours!!! Imagine being sick and having to hold for that long, just to be greeted by some rude operater. Funny the average wait time to cancel a ride is under five mins. So they've got plenty of people to jump on those calls, and hardly anybody to schedule!!?? And some of the companies and drivers they contract with, show up in rickety cars with questionable drivers.

I have used Paratransit for almost 12 years and have never had and negative issues with their service.

Be Patient With Them
It really helps when you schedule your trips online. It is to a pain to do that because you have to use Internet Explorer and that is why I only gave them 3 stars. When the phone hours got cut in AUG of 2019 it made it harder on everyone because some people have disabilities that make them forget to do tasks in their life like making phone calls they are supposed to make and they might remember later in the day maybe about 5 or 6 pm and now that the hours got cut it is too late to call Paratransit at that time. They used to be open until 7 pm.

Always have gotten me to my appointments on time. They are free with insurance. Give out gas vouchers so if you have a licence you can drive yourself and not have to pay for any gas for your medical visits. All the drivers i have had so far have been very nice and respectful. There is alot of people giving bad reviews because its hard to get ahold of them due to heavy call volumes but right now every where is short staffed its not thier fault that there are so many people on state health insurance needing rides. They are doing everything in thier power to help people out and get them where they need to be. I am very thankful for paratransit.

If you re having trouble in scheduling an appointment, call early when they open which is at 7:00am or book online on their website. Avoid the mobile app.

What is going on with Paratransit?!? I have not been able to get through for 3 months. I just call and either sit on hold for hours or get dismissed by recording and hung up on. Hire some telephone operators already! Have they stopped scheduling ride assistance and I missed the memo?

This company is horrible. We have doctor's notes stating sedan only and a van gets sent. We go through a roundabout with the doctor and Paratransit constantly to only be told "Oh it's fixed" and then the next time it's wrong again. I called several times to get the same problem resolved and end up having to keep calling back only to get one of two answers every time. I have to wait for someone to answer for a minimum of 45 minutes every time I call and usually I get someone with an attitude who isn't helpful or doesn't note the account. I just got sent to the comment line after expressing frustration with the company and subcontractor and was cut off. I do not feel like my concerns have been heard and my business is not important. DO BETTER!!!

Door to door service for the disabled. I've had 5 different drivers and they've all been highly trained and made long trips comfortable. This service is beyond gold.

I ve never seen any driver on Para Transit treat me or anyone with anything but courtesy and respect and polite, they are working under tremendously stressful long hours under corona virus conditions we are riding FREE. Ok? Please respect these very hard working stressed drivers. I m from Chicago you want to see disrespect? Go ride those buses and L trains.. be thankful for the people of this city.
