I have been employed for over 14 yrs and counting with Paragon.They are a great company to work for. I was on mobile for 7 years and am currently a Site Supervisor. I know the office staff very well and they really care about their guards. Trust me, would I have stayed here for this amount of time,if they were bad.
Great place to do your 5 day training course. They teach you the foundations on how to become a security guard. They have excellent experience instructors that will teach you everything they know about security. Paragon employees actually help you set up your service ontario account so that you can book your ministry exam and also afterwards they give you step by step on how to apply for your licence after passing the ministry exam. It's also easy to apply for a job with them when getting your digital license. Overall the experience at paragon was great with an excellent facility and employees!

I was threatened by paragon security on my door step for them to call police on me. Then refused to produce his superiors information. I now no longer feel comfortable in my own condo and feel hostility every time I walk through the lobby
Worst staff ever for security don't go here they lie and promise false information and they also charge over $250 for uniform waste of my time and money.
I would like to review the recruiting and training aspects of the company with 5 stars. It is a company who is totally different and way more professional than any other security company out there. The recruitment process was fast and the training they provide is taken very seriously. All instructors would go the extra mile to teach you and they make everything very interacting. An example of how a locating commissioner would always be, is Sathiya Gugathasan. He was very helpful, friendly and made all the process very easy.
They need to train their security supervisors a whole lot better! Have very limited sites that are actually good. Also have lost a bunch of contracts in the past. Did not return my money once I returned my uniform. Called them a bunch of times and h.r kept saying I will receive it next week , next week and now it has been over 3 years :/
Worst experience I have ever had in my entire life. Bad treatment and threaten letter sent to me by their so-called HR Director ( a man ). Am advising every young person intending to pursue security as a carrier, please, please never join paragon security. They don t understand whatever your problem is and only they are after is for you to work for them and they pay you least pay rate.
They posted on internet that Walk-In-Interviews and the wages are $18 starting. Which is false. Their starting is just $14 so why are they posting $18 on the internet. Just to fake people.
Also they never pay trainings you had with them but during the registration or orientation, they will tell you trainings are paid and they never paid me for the two days training I had with them.
I recommend PSISA, Ontario should seize Paragon s license of operation forever. Only 2 staff at HR are excellent. That is Ana and Nancy. These two staff are very professional and knows how to treat people with dignity and respect.
But the dispatcher is among the worst staff. He is not helpful at all.

Few days ago, at yonge&sheppard, i saw a security guy gave the middle finger and yelled at another Chinese guy. I don't know what happen there but it seems like very very disrespectful. Since what happen in the U.S, none of us wanna see such things happen again. Even the security also parking at the place that doesn't allow to park. The security guy still speaking provocative language. Jesus.
I passed my test just like they promised. The instructors and staff are friendly as well as helpful. Compared to other places my friends went to, this is the best place to do the security course. I was never confused about the application process, as they gave step by step help. They also have job openings.
I see negative comments which is quite surprising. I have been in the security industry for over 25 years and can say beyond any shadow of a doubt, Paragon Security is the industry leader. I can speak for many other employees at Paragon when I say, thank you for your support. During my tenure at Paragon, I have always been treated with respect.
Professional environment, genuine staff, excellent training, and above all ready to help you get what you want!
I strongly recommend Paragon if you're looking for a long-term career or a transitioning job in the security field.
When I started at this place of employment it was a wonderful place with wonderful people but of late it is all about who you know at the top. For 3 yrs I've worked at a location downtown and after changing the manager to a new 1 whom it is said was handpicked this place has now gone to the dogs. I hear everyday how guards are walking around on phone and not as alert as I was (I guess this is the kind of service they wanted to give as opposed to mine). This manager is the worst manager I have ever seen in my years of working anywhere. He is a SNAKE and A LIAR smile infront your face and stab you in the back, he also takes credits for things he doesn't do and know nothing of and to make matters worst he is very unprofessional. I wish this company well and hope they would change their ways of doing things because if not they will only continue to lose good guards and sink like the titanic.
If you r going to school and need a part time - this is the job for you. There's no future in it if you know no 1 at the top.
I've worked for them for over two years now. Got a great site and learned a lot. The negative reviews I see are really surprising; I have never received ill treatment. Those who say that the HR people and supervisors are rude I think are mistaken. The people they accuse simply have a no-nonsense approach. If you are talking or thinking nonsense, then you are wasting their time and yours - time better given to those who are serious and deserving of time.
My recommendation to new people is that if you are looking for work, this is work, so work. Sure there are a lot of moments of quiet (particularly night shifts), so take that opportunity to really know your site, your job, rules, regulations, etc. Experiment with investigative strategies and diplomatic demeanor; do social experiments and see what works and what doesn't. If you are bored, you are doing something wrong with your time. If the site is not to your liking, do something to turn it into how you would like your site to be. If people are grumpy, find ways to make them feel not grumpy. There are a lot of things you can do; you just have to be willing to do them. Show initiative.
If you think "I'm not paid enough for this" then you have the wrong attitude. You've demonstrated arrogance; arrogance prevents you from learning anything.
For those who say it is a rip-off, I will say this: It's only a rip-off if you don't make use of and explore what you've learned. There's good information in those courses. Pay attention!
Complaining is usually a sign of laziness and demonstrates an undeserved feeling of privilege. Want respect? Earn that respect. Just because you are born does not mean you automatically deserve respect. You're lucky to have a job so make the best of it.
Four out of five stars simply because I leave room for improvement. I won't name what needs to be improved, but I will say that the positives outweigh the negatives in my mind.
Many of the other reviews have touched on how the shifts are sparsely received and highly irregular. Allow me to explain in more detail...
As a new guard, if you indicate an interest in working in a condo (or mall, hospital, etc) they might oblige... if you count being put in a generic condo full of political BS that results in you being pulled from the site for no fault of your own. I mean, you actually worked in a condo for 2 days, so that's something, right? So you call in to find another site. Rinse and repeat.
In any case, the security guard is ALWAYS targeted when the need arises to use them as metaphorical punching bags. The astute guards will see through this immediately, leaving behind the lowest common denominator. But they serve a very important purpose, even more so than watching the fire panel 24/7 or arresting idiots on the site. They are the fusible links, the expendable devices, to be used (and disposed of) whenever something goes wrong. Much like the glass cover of an emergency button, they are ordered in bulk, smashed with a hammer, and easily replaced with another one just like it.
A friend of mine suggested me to work for paragon cause it's a big company. I came in for an interview and got " basically hired" came for class only for level 2 training witch I already knew from my past security company I worked for.
Then I get assigned to a scheduler that places you at your "perminint location or area "
The scheduler I had GAVE me a full time schedule at a location downtown...
Was there for a day came back on Monday to start my week , the other guards tell me that I am no longer assind at the location.
This company is a full of crap company that will steal hours , and treat you like your nothing.
I was at home waiting on them to give me hours, I waited 3 weeks to get something from them but got nothing.
Guys if your reading this. Believe me this company is NOT WORTH WORKING FOR.

first off these guards presents themselves as if the are police authority, this is a no no in the security guards act, the law ,the real law
second bad customer and professional conduct and out right bully
third some guards talked about their management are comparable to nazis and racist pigs and that they dont treat their employees good at all ..so this is certainly this is a bad security provider , attention!
I was promised to paid 15$/hr if I work in hospital but I was paid 14$/hr. Than I had to mail but I didn't get reply until I mailed 2-3 times. Once u deny to take a shift for ur personal reasons you'll be told that you're gonna be terminated. And than you won't get shifts anymore and they'll terminate you without informing you.
Paragon Security MUST GO! Simply Put!
They are not worth the money and their contract is due soon.
As a board member I will petition that we find better guards, because Paragon just replaced them with worse ones.

If you are one of those guards that are here to make easy money/slack off, choose other companies like First Service.

I worked for paragon in October, I can say this company does not want you to grow there's no promotion, not only that but they fired me for talking to a resident who comes down to the front desk to have a chat with the employees, I met this resident from another paragon employee who told me this resident always comes downstairs to chat for a while, so who would have thought chatting with a resident for a while would get you fired, paragon or the other employee didn't let me know it was wrong or would get me fired, no warning was giving to me, I was so shocked. Jim called me on Wednesday saying they will switch my site because of what I did, I had no clue what I did so wrong he told me yes you do, he said you were on camera having people at the front desk for long, so I waited for a new site an no call, so I called Chris who I had an interview with an, he said I'm terminated an that I won't be moved to another site because they can't have people at the front desk. They don't know how to treat employees or help them progress, they say one thing an do another. I wouldn't trust this company I suggest you hire or apply for another one.

In my personal experience, Every employee I ve come into contact with are either self centered and egotistical or just down right helpless and incompetent. They don t know how to provide any kind of customer service or show any kind of compassion. I would stay clear of this company because in my personal opinion there are other companies that do a better job.

Ask a simple question on their social media page and expect to get blocked from it without being able to ask further questions. Whoever is handling the page is immature. Gives employment seekers a bad rep of the company. Look elsewhere for security.
Is was a good place to start out at but over time started to go downhill. Got stuck at one site, was over looked for a promotion, managers reason was someone else was more deserving? I worked the weekend shift for 2 years, never turned down an extra shift during the week, lost class time since I was in college at the time also. Then when tried to interview for another site, manager of the office in Oshawa sat in for the interview and sabotaged my opportunity for another site, saying that I was unreliable. Worked there for 3 years, never late, wrote very detailed reports, and even worked through
a loss of a family member. Would recommend paragon for beginners but not long term.
Theres a bad review on here about Mai Rose Palma saying she needs retraining and is unprofessional. I have attended this class and this is extremely untrue. Mai rose palma is very passionate and has tons of knowledge about security. I thoroughly enjoyed the training class she taught and found her to be a great teacher that covers everything clearly. This individual has a grudge against her because they were disciplined by her. I HIGHLY recommend the paragon training academy at leslie taught by Mai Rose Palma

Make sure to handle your own application. They messed up my application and costed me 2 weeks of paid work. They're barely sorry about it. MAKE SURE TO DO YOUR OWN APPLICATION.
I really appreciate the atmosphere here, the academy is welcoming and if you got instructor Mr.Twaine well, he is one of the best I have met, the guy is a dictionary to me, like he will help people taking the course, specifically to those who barley know english, and defining words which gets unfair to my side because he's only an instructor. I really hope Paragon is taking care of this person because he cares. Once again guys, I sincerely appreciate the loyalty and accomodation brought into attention under all the circumstances that occured to me personally thank you. For anyone hiring security guards, look elsewhere.
A woman cut me in line and then pushed and shoved me at the mall. The Paragon Security guards witness the assault and they did nothing to stop it. The male guard even asked me to apologize, "it's just easier, because this woman isn't going to stop". The overweight female guard mocked me and said, "Call the police. Someone cut me in line. Boo hoo."
This fat blonde has no sense of justice. 200 hours of training your employees is just 5 weeks. It's not enough. Telling the victim to stop complaining is part of your training?

Sathiya Gugathasan Was the person who hired me on that time he told my me starting wage will be $15 an hour but when i got my first pay I found it was only $14 hr an hour and i send an email to him he doesn t reply back for 2 weeks until i send him another email then he replied he never told that.
even the 1star is more for this company these people earn money from training they dont have any job management is very very rude.These people only rotating shifts and also no permanent site for someone never go to this company

Not much can be said here as a very big corporation they definitely need some changes. To put it simple sometimes it s best to hire a smaller company. Not much else I can really say based on my knowledge of them.
A scam. Had an interview there, and the recruiter kept interrupting me and changing the subject only to try to get me to sign up for a job that only pays the minimum. He told me, I'll get paid "Up to $20/hr". Where have I heard this before....
Had an incident with a guard from a condominium.
This guard was in a mobile vehicle, chased myself off the premises and tried to pull me over on public roads acting out as a peace officer.
Police were called and a report was input into the system, these guys are acting as police officers thinking their big and bad.
They remove bad reviews on thier Facebook and Instagram
