A classic among the great National Paradores. Superb
I did not like that after paying a burger 10 euros I put chips bag, to ask a club sandwich and bring me a mixed sandwich and call the waitress several times and make any me any attention, so back there and neither recommend
The best, the site. But it is not as quiet as it should be, since it is a place to stop and rest for all those who visit that area of Gredos. This is not to blame, the Parador, of course, which has already located the cafeteria at the entrance, to avoid intruders, but non-hosted visitors invade all areas, even those reserved for hosted customers.
The rooms, very sixties, and without air conditioning, which in summer and during the day overheats the room more than desirable, because it does not ventilate well at night, until very late. The food, good and plentiful. Unbeatable beef from Avila.
Parador with spectacular views of the Sierra de Gredos. It has several viewpoints and terraces to enjoy them. The desk attendants are very nice and help you choose what to do in the area. There is a games room with pingpong, billiards and table football and they also lend you board games in the halls. For me the rooms are correct but the best are the common places of the hostel. Recommended to enjoy the tranquility, the fresh air in summer and the smell of pine trees.
Good Parador "the oldest", in the middle of nature.
I was on the terrace of the hostel having a coffee. Fabulous views 2 coffees for 3.5 . A very nice place
He is the oldest of the Spanish hostels. Privileged situation at the top of the port of Gredos. Maybe it would suit some renovation
They preserve the quality of life in materials such as towels and amenities. The service has lowered its customer service a bit. Fantastic location
A very good meal, good treatment and spectacular views
Calm, cozy and beautiful. In a spectacular setting.
The site is very nice the problem was that they deceived us because they told us that we had enough points to go and went, and two days later they called us saying that they were going to charge us because some of the points had expired but they did not tell us time to book and in the end it was more expensive than we thought we would spend. We feel cheated
The food was delicious. Highlight the fresh pasta with a lot of flavor, I haven't eaten one this good in a long time. Prices commensurate with the quality, the place and the service. Excellent attention from the waiters.
Magnificent place to have something to eat and enjoy a relaxing time.
All good. The building a little old and the prices a little high but well
I am delighted, it is ideal to spend a few days, you can make excursions and see great landscapes and if you want to relax it is also the perfect place
WEDDING AT THE PARADOR DE GREDOS.
We celebrated our wedding at this parador in June 2014. We usually live in Madrid, where we visit wedding venues, but finally we decided to take our guests to the Sierra de Gredos to celebrate such a special day. That decision, which may seem risky, was worth it, as the guests (about 120) thanked a "country" weekend that culminated in the ceremony held at this Parador.
From the beginning (almost a year ago) we were given facilities to organize the event, serving us a list of providers of music, flowers (we recommend Flores Aralia, in Avila capital), photos, etc. so that no detail is missing. Of course, giving you the freedom to hire others if you think appropriate and making it easier for them when the time comes. The facilities were maintained the days before and during the celebration, with very rapid responses to the incidents that arise (there was a very rapid time change, of those typical of Gredos, during the cocktail party, which they transferred to the interior of the Parador in a matter of seconds for the guests to continue without major problem). They also worked with absolute honesty: as an example, there were 2 last minute absences that were not counted in the final invoice (I know that not all sites do)
We did the wedding setup in the garden and it was phenomenal, in front of the pine forest and exquisitely decorated by the florists, just as we had left. How important it is that there are no unpleasant surprises that day. I give you my word that there were none.
The food, great. Not only because of the multiple menu combinations (I think you also have the possibility of building one to suit you with various dishes on the menu, although we opted for a closed one) but also because of the price that, after comparing with the places we had visited in the Community of Madrid (some with catering), it was even more advantageous. It also gave us peace of mind knowing that the kitchen was "next door" (the idea of catering, although we have no elements to criticize it, did not quite convince us). We hired an initial cocktail, which was long and of high quality (according to our guests, we, with the fuss of the photos, did not taste much that day, although in the previous test everything was delicious). Finally, the sirloin steak that made up the main course on the menu came out on the wedding day even better than the test one.
We made the open bar in a space of the Parador that welcomed the guests without problems, the DJ table and a large photo-call, with chairs for the elderly and more than enough space for that night's own dancing. There was also a wide cookout, with sausages, omelette and empanadas. We, now free from the commitment of the photos at that point in the night, took the opportunity to try everything, and everything seemed great.
And finally the Parador itself, which solves the accommodation ballot a lot for you and is a truly spectacular site. Older guests, with young children or who you know may be leaving soon, just press an elevator button to go to sleep. The young people, many of them in groups, stayed in one of the many rural houses that are less than 5 km from the Parador (ours did it in Hoyos del Espino, where we put a bus that is also hired without problems with the data that they give you in the Parador itself).
In short, a luxury for us and, from what we have been told, also for our guests. Thanks to the Director, the Head Diner and all the staff, for making us such a fantastic day.
Very welcoming and his staff very efficient my first visit and it will not be the last.
I just have a coffee. In the line of most Paradores. Old furniture (not old) and neglected. Beautiful views, perfect surroundings.
The best located without a doubt, the enclave is spectacular. It maintains the level of the other hostels.
Excellent service and a beautiful living room with that fireplace
To put a but: the vehicles parked in front of the facade, and the vicinity of the road, make the place look bad.
One person, at least, has complained slightly about the noisy floor. I find it fun.
Otherwise, the place is excellent.
Excellent hotel. The employees are very friendly and attentive and the food is fancy!
It is unfortunate that a hostel has such a poor kitchen and with such a bad product. Small rooms and wonderful views marred by a pathetic little window.
A lot of dog friendly but then they do not let you be with your dog tied up on the terrace of the cafeteria, an incongruity if they allow pets in the rooms .....
Parador worthy of five stars. Cozy, family, very good treatment and excellent cuisine. We went with 4 children and we did not miss anything. We will be back!!
Wonderful environment, very good facilities. Very good restaurant too, perhaps lacking staff. Recommendable.
It is not as pretty as other hostels, now its situation is perfect for a walk in the Sierra de Gredos. We were just having coffee so I can't comment on the accommodation.
A quiet corner to disconnect. Good restaurant, good rooms, good terraces to relax with a book, and various walking routes where you only listen to the birds. Essential at least once a year.
Parador muy tranquilo en pleno naturaleza. Muy bonito.
Excellent food and treatment in a phenomenal environment
Very well. Very attentive staff, impeccable facilities, the views are a luxury both inside and outside the hostel, the lining of the walls preserves the past of what was ... Great
It does not have air conditioning. It was not ventilated. There are many people in the breakfast room, making it difficult to keep safe distances. It also did not have Wi-Fi. The price of the room is expensive.
Relax at a good price. Although you do not have the virial statue in front of you, it is to be in the parador in the middle of sanabria. Luxury, nature, history, gastronomy.
Magnificent place Super nice place in a wonderful environment. Very comfortable and warm. Very well conditioned despite being all snowy outside. Beautiful surroundings Super friendly staff. We will be back
Fantastic place both for a getaway and for longer stays. With all the tradition of the Spanish paradores (not in vain is the oldest), and the highest quality in the attention of its staff, cuisine and decoration. Highly recommended
A welcome stop for coffee on our journey between staying in the parador of Avila and Plasencia. The first parador opened and initially aimed at hill walkers.
Perfect place to disconnect. The only but the restoration theme. Too sophisticated. It would have to be a little more rural.
My wife and I have stayed in more than 100 hostels and 40 different ones and in very few the minibar in the room works properly as has been the case again in this hostel. We have also found missing services such as a pool, essential in this epic of the year, or spa, sauna or gym something very normal nowadays in any hotel of this category. A shame
Very cozy and very beautiful everything. We will repeat a hiding place in the Sierra de Gredos.
I usually go to Paradores for a weekend getaway. I had a reservation and because of illness I could not go. I had to send a medical report and almost, almost talk to the Managing Director of Paradores
The hostel is beautiful, along with the place and the views, the only bad thing in the kitchen, there is someone who does not know how to make a potato omelette. They put us a sandwich of French omelette xq it was white and with four potatoes and without anything salt.
We ate it because we were working and we did not have time.
The treatment they gave us was very kind to everyone, yes and thanks
We were not lucky enough to be able to stay because we were passing through. But of course we were really looking forward to it. Located in an impressive setting.
We had a soda and a snack and the service was excellent.
(Photos 2019)
a great place to sleep and eat. make routes through nearby historical trails
There is no place in the world that can be compared to the Parador Nacional de Gredos
Very good site with good views and very nice pos in also. Good service and meals
We went to eat after a tour and the truth is that the food is excellent, there is a menu of typical dishes quite affordable. Although the restaurant does not have good views, it is best to have your coffee then on the terrace contemplating the whole Sierra de Gredos
Excellent as always, it was the first Parador since 1928. To explore its spaces is to visit part of our history. It is essential to visit it.
It is a museum in every rule. Very nice staff and I request. Many details with the client.
The spectacular views, the unbeatable surroundings, the good food, try the goat shoulder. Desserts very good and very abundant. Rice with milk, delicious custards. Walking through the lounges and terraces is worth it.
Every year we go ... the staff is professional and charming the service is very good ... The surroundings are spectacular .....
Place that inspires tranquility, with beautiful views, unpleasant receptionists.
Impressive sights. Excellent service Unique and interesting building.
Privileged enclave, old hostel but with very good restaurant service
Beautiful Parador in a privileged environment.
To spend a good weekend.
Good place to have a coffee and to visit the place where the constitution was made
Lovely place for nature lovers, rooms with views of the forest and in the middle of nature. It is very well located to make routes through the Sierra de Gredos and from the same Parador there is a hiking route very easy to do.
The place where it is located, its good cuisine, its conservation and the friendliness of its employees.
Nice enclave to rest and good views. In Navarra of Gredos.
Unrivaled setting, the building and facilities a bit vintage
A very nice hostel to get away for a weekend to enjoy the Sierra de Gredos, to trek or have some jumbled potatoes
The burgers in the cafeteria are very bad: they arrived cold and the meat was very raw despite having ordered them. Completely cold, and it is a very strong flavor meat, I do not recommend them if you are not a fan of red meat. That yes, they arrived to you cold, and accompanied by chips of BAG. Any burguer gives better burgers. And it is good for the price they have, they are not exactly cheap, 10 a unit. Very disappointed. Poor service, they do not serve at the tables (of the cafeteria), and at the bar they take a long time to attend. I do not understand why a site of such renown has such a bad service. The place is nice and cozy, the food and service leave much to be desired. Bad value for money
A wonderful place for who likes the mountain. The hostel is very good, but the floor and the doors of the rooms are of a very rustic and worn wood although it has its charm. The restaurant with acceptable quality.
Cafeteria is very nice to have a coffee or a soft drink
