Extremely poor cashier attitude. Ordered a bathroom sink and while paying with credit card, cashier got frustrated in confirming twice the amount to be charged. Also took the deposit receipt and reluctant in giving it to me. The reason I ordered from Home Hardware was to support the Danforth neighbourhood. I will order from Home Depot that is cheaper from now on!

I went to Pape Danforth Home Hardware today and I had an unbelievable customer service experience I rarely see anymore.
I am working on a little project for my wife as a gift for our 2nd (Cotton) wedding anniversary. I was helped by so many of the staff in the store. The manager, Karyn, was sweet and helpful and had one of her staff, Davis, assist me.
Davis worked on my little project with me and helped to troubleshoot by finding intelligent ways to fix the project when running into an obstacle. He was genuinely kind, patient and quite mature for his age and he made everything easy for me and his effort was top shelf.
I live in the area and our community is strong and full of kindness, despite the tragic events of a week ago, we are stronger now. #danforthstrong
I plan on going to this Home Hardware on a more regular basis and I applaud the personalized customer service.
The store is about 3,000 ft, jam to the rafters with everything for your do-it-yourselfer. Excellent plumbing electrical items for quick repairs. good selection of paint for anybody in an apartment. all the necessary drywall patch kits and clauking, everything else before you paint are available. Every gadget you ever wanted for your kitchen from pots and pans the mandolins. The best part about it all is the staff knows what they're doing knows what parts you actually need if you explain what you're trying to do. Screen, glass, mirror service can be ordered, if you can't cut it. The best part is there's no do-it-yourself checkout you get personalized service the moment you walk in the door!! It's just so much better than a big box store and I've shop them all in 35 years of service repair work!
Very poor customer service experience yesterday by heavyset with glasses and beard/goatee. I tried asking where a product was while he was looking for something in the FedEx cabinet and he acted like I was committing a crime. All I wanted was the aisle number. Never again. You need to have people who can walk and chew gum at tet same time and who recognize that minorities deserve good customer service too.
This is one of the best stores I ve been in for customer service. Staff, in particular, Karen and Ed whom I ve worked with recently, are knowledgeable, professional and they go the extra mile. I needed to replace a lightbulb during COVID, a seemingly easy task but I can t go to a store and the lightbulb has been discontinued. Ed helped me by phone figure out the replacement, arranged curb side pick up for me and did it in record time. That s just one example of their amazing service. Hats off to this store.
Went in with questions and the staff was well knowledged and had great customer service. Ed the manager was very polite and Tyler helped me out and made sure i left with the correct products. 5 out of 5 id reccomend to anyone.
I would like to give a huge shout out to Tabitha who helped me today. It was close to the end of her shift and I had a large order of keys to be made and she provided amazing service. She made the process of making keys actually fun which is saying something. I would come back to this store just to say hi. Awesome supporting team as well. Easy 5 stars.
This store has done nothing but steer me in the proper direction when it comes to paint. Under their advice, I just restained my deck using their product. The 20 year old deck has never looked better and it is going to last for a number of seasons before either ripping it out or reapplying more. The management and staff are great, and I happily and regularly stop in there when out and about.
To Karyn and her team of professionals, the most helpful and knowledgeable ppl there. My go to Mom & Pop store. Thank you for all your hard work and being so nice and sincere during this hardship. I do appreciate all that you have done. Thank you Karyn Cassar and your team!
The customer service in this place is absolutely awesome. I live nearby and I use this store for my projects. The stuff helped me to get put-in slats of non-standard length, to figure out a creative solution for my garden gate, to order the gate itself and the bamboo fence. Karyn and Ruth-Ann are always ready go an extra mile to find the best product for the customer. Attached are the photos of what they helped me accomplish. Thank you!
This home hardware should win awards for best customer service. The guys are amazing. The owner is a great man.His son is the same. Definately stop in for all your home improvement needs.
Best little hardware store in the city. Very knowledgeable regardless of your issue. Yes, the know the name of that thing you cannot describe that you need for that thing in the basement that you believe is important.
Was in this hardware store on October 27th and Justin provided excellent customer support. His knowledge and expertise was outstanding. He took the time to provide a very good explanation in regards to the benefits of different light bulbs.
Nice friendly staff. If they don't know something they will look it up for you. Always great when you have workers who put in effort. We ended up buying a stainless steel kettle based on their recommendation.
It has to be the worst hardware store ever. It s disorganized, a fire hazard with boxes, empty and full, on the floor through all the aisles. Staff has no experience or expertise. Soon slow to checkout.
Really amazing staff and customer service!!! My friend from out of town was blown away by the friendliness and competence of the entire staff. A special thanks and shout out to Justin and Tabitha. Thanks sooooo much. And...not to leave out the manager Karyn Climans who cut my keys.
Always have a good experience at this location. Great, friendly, helpful staff that provide expertise and top-notch service. Thank you for all your help!
Service at this location continues to be great. Staff are eager to help, knowledgeable, and take time to explain things. Long ago, under previous management, I avoided shopping at this place since the staff were unavailable or surly. Now it s my first choice for home and hardware items.
Small on the outside, large on the inside. Not as roomy as a big box store (no surprise), but the staff are very knowledgeable and patient. They've adapted quickly to dealing with social distancing and have kept their trademark patience and humour. Thanks for your help!
Hire more staff. I was there today to pick up a FedEx parcel and there was one woman by herself and 5 people behind me in line. The woman was not very pleasant, not that I blame her either. I then see another woman stocking shelves. Please stop and help your customers. You don't serve customers, you lose business and then you'll have no shelves to stock. You'll be bankrupt.
Called the store before going to get a specific item and the person who answered said they have the item. When I got to the store they did did not have the item. What a waste of time
This is a large store with tonnes of good quality merchandise. I purchased 3 table fans and one of the staff carried them out to the car. I recommend this store to everyone.
This little store is AMAZING. i only worked there for a year and the friendships and connections i have made will be forever. the staff here goes to length for the costumers and continue to go out of there way to make sure that every single customer has the right information and the tools that they need to succeed. leaving this place makes me sad but ive learned so much and i couldn't thank you guys enough. i love guys keep up the good work <3 - Robyn L.
Should really have an automatic door button at this location. I ve seen countless people with mobility issues or people with strollers struggling just to get into the store.
Five star praise to Pape Home Hardware for the efficient, friendly, well-organized shopping experience I had there this week. Despite the crisis, the owner, manager and staff are providing an essential service in a manner above and beyond the call of duty. Bravo!
love the service ( especially from the cashier Stacey; always positive and energetic) helpfulness the staff provide especially with their beauty tone paint.
At 1st, I thought it was the tiniest hardware store I'd ever seen, but then found there was an entire other side to the store--at some point, this store was joined to the store beside it so it is much larger than one would think at first entry. Staff were friendly and seemed to know their store well. Decent prices, and while it cannot match a Canadian Tire/Lowes/Rona for selection and sheer size, it surely has enough there for anyone needing generic tools for everyday use. Don't go there looking for lumber or drywall but for most home type jobs, it would be fine. Indeed, I got all I was looking for without issue.
This Home Hardware is excellent. It may not be the biggest store but it has very good service. If they don t have what you need in stock, they will order it for you. Karyn was extremely helpful with an issue I had and she was very patient and made sure a good solution was found. Thank you Karyn, it worked out great.
Karyn and the crew at this location were amazing to deal with during the Covid crisis. I never waited very long outside and they were quite helpful going into the store to select what I needed - sometimes coming out with a few choices. They remained cheerful during some trying times and probably put a ton of extra steps on their phone apps! Kudos.
Even though the store size is much smaller than Home Depot or Canadian Tire, their product selection is really good and their customer service is the absolute best. The entire staff is so friendly, patient, honest and helpful. It really feels like the old world of customer service when a local merchant really understood their neighbourhood and neighbours, and genuinely cared about them. That's this place.
Sunday night I really needed to pump up my basketball and I showed up as the key was turning at 5pm, but the staff let me in to purchase my one item. That's community. Thanks so much!
Not helpful at all - cashier offered to help, paged someone to assist. No one bothered to come over and assist. Don't offer to help if you're not going to follow through.
This is a new store located 2 doors down from the old one, with a new owner. The aisles are a little wider in this store, with the housewares in the main side and the hardware next door.
Great service - they have some really knowledgeable people and I have benefitted from their advice many times. Also took advantage of their service where they will build and deliver your barbeque to your house. (And agree with an earlier comment, the prices are really good - better than the 'big box' style Cdn Tire on Lakeshore!)
