My 88 year old grandmother stayed at Our Lady of Consolation for two and a half weeks and it was as pleasant as a rehabilitation center could be. The nursing staff was friendly, attentive and sincere (my grandmothers words). The physical therapy she recieved helped her gain her strength back after tumultuous results of a blood transfusion. The only reason I wouldn't give it five stars is due to the fact that the food was subpar and they could answer the room alerts in a more timely manner.

Please, please, please don t send your love ones to this death center. They are seriously understaffed. Due to their neglect my wife is now gone. She suffered a stroke and could not talk and you would think that a first priority is to establish some sort of communication. I had to wind up taking a writing board to her a she communicated pretty well. They should all be in jail.

The list of problems at this rehabilitation cent...

The list of problems at this rehabilitation center are too numerous to detail so I ll just cover some of the highlights:

They did not have patient medication as required and promised and expected said patient to go without antibiotics and post surgery blood thinners for three days (until their pharmacy was open even though others were open and could even deliver) they specifically told patient to not bring her own medication or mobility aids but they had difficulty creating a working wheelchair from pieces of about 50 broken wheelchairs, and they grossly overstated the availability of other frequently needed devices.

Staff used improper technique in moving her resulting in damage and swelling, bandage dressings were changed erratically and without due diligence resulting ripped open sutures when dried bandages were torn off many hours too late.

Patent was repeatedly given other people s medicine seemingly to save the facility money, one substitution came with the requirement that the patient would need to be monitored which the facility claimed the Dr would have to order, but they already didn t follow his prescription order, choosing instead to substitute a more dangerous alternative while notifying no one.

After suffering numerous setbacks caused by the negligence of staff, an attempted transfer (by the patient) to a far better facility (she had been to before for the same recovery) was hampered by false reports claiming that she was ready to go home- in the pack of lies they even claimed that she climbed eight steps when they only have three, and she couldn t climb those because her knee kept buckling. They told her it was her fault that she was being denied the transfer because had she not asked to be transferred the insurance company wouldn t have looked at her file that had the (false) information they created to show how she was improved and ready to go home.

There is so much more wrong with the place, it s likely to turn into a local scandal, as they seem to be pocketing money that should go to required medicine and treatment.

Terrrible communcations have us on tenterhooks. Dad just told me he hasn't yet had a shower and he is begging for some clothes...Still a one star facility to me! I am disabled and not supposed to drive..I am alone and can barel take care of myself...My Dad DESERVES the best quality..he is a veteran...I'm gonna report you all over the net if you don't do good by me and my Dad and brother who lives in Californai...HE CANNOT come to NY to take care of Dad. He has a JOB!!!! Stop imposing on us, and do the right paper pushing...don't pass the buck back to us...we are not ready willing or able to do the work of professional caregivers, or even casual ones! Get that through your thick skulls!

The place is clean, staff is nice the food is great! But the way the elderly has to wait to go to the bathroom is terrible! They come in and turn the call bell off and tell you they're sending someone or they going to get someone to help and never show up, my dad been waiting over an hour to go to the bathroom and still no one has showed up! I don't know if they are short of staff or what but something has to be done about this!

Do NOT send your family to this facility. They let the call bell ring from 30 minutes to an hour. They talk bad mouth the residents right outside the patient's room. Talk about a HIPAA violation. They make the patient feel like an inconvenience. If you are not a people person or have a heart to help find another line of work. If the family complains they ready the patient even worse.

Out of the grouping there are only 1-2 good nurses or aides.

My Father has been at this facility for one year & 4 months, there are some wonderful Aids and Nurses working there that are very caring of the patients they serve, however they are overworked and underpaid & simply cannot handle the work load and this is why I will not recommend this facility, several things have happened to my Father in his stay that I feel could've been avoided had more attention been paid. I would go another way if you could.

I'd give this place zero stars if I could! I had a horrible experience with a nurses aide. Charity was extremely rude and insensitive and she let my mother sit in her own urine for hours without any help. She didn't want to do anything at all for her. She refused to give her a shower after asking multiple times until I had asked another aide to help and she did. I'm never recommending any of my friends or family here...extremely disappointing. Not all of the aides are bad, most of them were friendly and willing to help. I remember Charity as a rude woman who wouldn't listen to my requests. I hope she doesn't take care of anyone else!

My mother-in-law was a patient of OLC recently and the kindness, dedication, concern and care she received was exemplary. Everyone, including the doctors, nurses, CNAs, housekeeping, and social worker involved with her care were caring and helpful and attentive. Also, we were kept fully informed of all decisions made concerning her care. We were very favorably impressed and recommend this facility.
