One odd the best chefs in miami. The scallops cooked to perfection. Paired with coconut rice with just the right amount of sweet chili. Finished with bread pudding and Jaimacan blue mountain coffee which you never see on any menu. They brew with French press which is the proper way to treat this special roast. Our server Areyl. Sorry if I spelled wrong was excellent and very attentive. This place never disappoints.

Was there last Saturday night. I had the Ortanique martini which was delicious. For dinner I had a tuna, Which I have to say is probably the best tuna I have ever had in my entire life. It is absolutely a melt in your mouth tuna! My date had the grouper which was also delicious. For dessert we split a rum cake which was just so-so-that I would not recommend. The service was great and the atmosphere is very romantic, although there were children there. Overall an exceptional dining experience and I recommend.

I was sold this restaurant by a fellow Jamaican. I am sorry to report, any authentic Jamaican cannot possibly walk away form this restaurant with true cultural Jamaican experience after eating the West Indian Cornish Hen.
This was nothing more than tasteless white baked chicken at a high price.

Lovely place. I recently moved to this town and I decided to discover local restaurants. This was the first I visited. Unfortunately I cant give 5 stars because while I booked a table outside, once there, I got one inside and the lady told me outside wasnt available.
This make me doubt the reservation system / restaurant organization.

Prices are very good. Inexpensive. Food is good, mixed western, French and Caribbean. Very generous portions. If you are not that hungry do not order appetizer.

Very cozy and crowded place.
They just need to respect the reservations and they have 5 stars.

What a wonderful spot!! I stumbled across this restaurant by chance looking for something different. It exceeded all my expectations, when I walked in the ambiance was charming and very Caribbean. My lunch was superb fresh clean flavors and the server was very helpful in pairing a wine with my truffle crepe short ribs that I will dream about for days!! You could tell this was a great local spot by how everyone was greeted. The Chef/Owner came by to make sure all was well. I couldn t decide on dessert so I had 2 both equally delicious the bread pudding and the Rum cake. I m so glad I ventured out to try something new and can t wait to bring my family back!!

It had been a long time since I had come to this restaurant. I was SO happy that they are still KILLING IT! Keep up the great work chef! My Pork Tenderloin Curry meal was so delicious and tender. The espresso crusted salmon knocked it out of the ballpark! I can't wait to go back.

Let me just start off by saying I d never come here for any occasion in my life!
1.GILBERT the MANAGER (who also is a waiter)is probably one of the worst and uncaring employees I ve ever come across in a restaurant business in my life. He smelled of cigarettes, I saw him spit outside and wipe his mouth and not wash his hands after where he then proceeded to serve a table that was right next to me. This individual had an annoyed and bitter tone when he spoke to my family. His service was slow and very unwelcoming.
2. The bartenders were loud and kept cursing. Their drinks also being mediocre.
3. The food was overpriced and definitely not worth it.
4. The glass cups they leave you on the table with is so unbelievably cloudy along with fingerprints all over as if they were used and carelessly put on a table.
I don t wish upon this restaurant not even to my worst enemy.
-the only positive note that I could possibly leave here is that the interior of the place wasn t too bad and a good choice of music despite the volume of it.

I just can't believe how amazing this restaurant is. Despite being perpetually booked in advance, if you can manage a reservation for a special occasion, you'll walk away smiling. Service and atmosphere are exceptionally classy. The food is always impressively prepared and adorned with exotic flavors. Their chef (Cindy Hudson) is inordinately talented. An unequivocal dining experience in Coral Gables.

First time to Ortanique, enjoyed the atmosphere, service and most importantly the food. Had a perfectly adequate glass of Tempranillo, but the food was delightful: pan seared corvina (yes, yes, I had red wine with white fish, but I'm of the "drink what you like" mindset and was in the mood for a Spanish red), served with perfectly cooked, julienned carrots and chayote, all atop a bed of sweetened, citrus-enhanced, plantain and Caribbean sweet potato mash. I opted to save room for dessert instead of eating appetizers (though my table ordered several, all of which looked delicious)- smart move as I had the coconut tres leches cake... so moist, with the perfect amount of shredded coconut, homemade chantilly, and just the right balance of sweet and creamy! I will be returning to Ortanique for sure!

Food was delicious and the service was as it should be. Service was there when they had to be and not there when they weren't needed. I don't like being overly served. I like to have uninterrupted conversations and our servers did a great job at attending to us at the right moments.

This place definitely lives up to the hype. Everything is perfect from the food to the service to the ambience. The restaurant is divided up, so it still feels cozy despite its large size. They also don't have the problem that most Miami restaurants have: poor acoustics. Despite a full house I could still hear my dinner companion. We had the Miami Spice menu. Everything was good, but we definitely had our preferences. For the appetizer, the fritters were slightly tastier than the pumpkin soup. The plaintain mash that came with the mahi was good, but the vegetable lasagna was out of this world. And lastly, the tres leches was a coconut lover's dream.

Use the phone you are reading this review on to order a Lyft and go to this place! We had such a good meal! The host of the restaurant was so kind and welcoming which set the tone for the whole meal. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the food and how it was prepared which was incredible helpful to those who had allergies. I also want to add that we started off with their garlic bread and the server made a point to bring bread out that those with allergies could consume. The service really was above and beyond. The fritter appetizer was scrumptious! We loved the salsa and the aioli paired together and we could have probably ate several more plates. The main course was exceptional. The ahi tuna was cooked perfectly! I was pleasantly surprised at how well the tuna and mashed potatoes tasted with the bright and citrous salsa. The bouillabaisse tasted like it has been cooking for days. The flavors were so rich and layered. If you like curry, this would be a great dish for you. The cappuccino that we ended the evening with was also delightful. Highly recommend!

First time we have been here. My wife has been wanting to come here for awhile so we drove down from Broward and it was fantastic. Drinks, appetizers, main dishes, atmosphere and wait staff all were great.
A must do for a native and a great surprise for a visitor.

Have always enjoyed this restaurant. Restaurant area was quite crowded but they managed to find room for us. Service was quite good considering. Food was great, seafood platter is a must. We also joined the frequent diner program.

Enjoyable evening! Was complimentary sparkle ng wine Thursday..... If that doesn't start your experience off with a smile nothing will. JoJo the bartender was extremely personable. We had goat cheese tots at the bar and knew we were in for a treat with just that bite.

I did the price fox meal which came with a soup or salad, I had the Caesar salad, there entree options, I had the salmon special and desert a magic tres leches. It's a splurge but worth it!

Hudson is a chef (not a cook) creating Caribbean inspired masterpieces unique to her restaurant. The wait staff are professional and quite knowledgeable about the menu and its ingredients. The ambience is serene. One of Miami's best.

We all understand politics, as my business partner frequently entertains at the restaurant with large groups and my other Jamaican colleague knows chef Cindy & Delius well. Thank god it was only my wife s birthday and not something special :-( Thanks for the embarrassment. How about a phone call next time?!

My boyfriend and I recently went here for Valentine s Day dinner. As to be expected this place was packed and I m glad we made a reservation because we still had to wait an hour before we were seated. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and I m sure it s even better on a less crowded day. The decor is a beautiful mix between carribbean and Florida beach home. The bar area (where we sat while we waited for our table) was small but comfortable. The bartender who waited on us (Joel?) was hilarious and very knowledgeable (he knew how to make a toasted almond to perfection despite it not being on the menu). We ordered the Caribbean foix gras with duck confit as an appetizer which was expensive but absolutely delicious and a large enough portion to share with someone else . It melted in the mouth and was well-seasoned. My boyfriend originally made a reservation for an outside table but after an hour wait the hostess said we could sit inside which was a plus. The garlic bread was hot and fresh from the oven with a perfect amount of crunch. I ordered the fish with cilantro rice and my boyfriend ordered steak. Mine was absolutely delicious. It had the fish steamed perfectly in a mixture of spices, tomatoes and vegetables. My boyfriend said his steak was okay. Overall, this was a nice first experience and I hope to come again when it is less crowded to be able to enjoy the ambiance and food.

Service was great if not slow. Everyone was friendly and nice. However it's not worth the $23 (miami spice) that I paid.

First off you cant take anything home with you which is bs because regardless of the price I'm still -paying- for it. Luckily I ended up being able to eat everything since nothing was really filling.

The food was good but not great. I could go somewhere else for half the price for the same quality of food. The garlic bread was honestly the best part of the meal followed by the Cordiva(sp?).

Not worth the price or the time it took to get all 3 courses. People work during the week we dont have time to wait for everything.

I saw this restaurant and was struck by the beauty and ambience of the photos I saw on open table, so I decided to make a reservation for my dear friends birthday, especially since they promote 50% off on select wines for Tuesday night. When I called to reconfirm my reservation, I told The host my reservation time, and her response was the reason I decided to cancel my reservation.

The reservation was made at 9:30 pm 30 minutes before closing, mainly because we were driving north an hour away to get there in regards of coming early. I was told to come early as to not upset the waiters, who might be in an urge to leave, and was told to expect an empty restaurant if I wanted to come at that time.

In all my years of working in a restaurant, and enjoying new restaurant experiences, this attitude was a huge turn off and unfortunately I have no desire to experience what this restaurant had to offer . Please encourage your staff to change their attitude when it comes to guest satisfaction and Customer Service via telephone. I've never spoken with a host who turned away or discouraged potential service because a reservation time, that was not to their satisfaction. Very disappointing.

An amazing restaurant, from the food, drinks, serviced and ambiance, this family-owned and operated restaurant really put their hearts into business and it really shows. The food was delicious, from the appetizers to the main entrees. Wine selection is probably one of the best you will find in South Florida, and were reasonably priced. The servers made sure that everything was to perfection and to our liking. From the street, it looks like a small restaurant, but once you get inside, you will be amazed how large and well planned out the restaurant is, including a first-class bar. Though the restaurant was full, it was not loud at all, and the lighting and soft music made for a quiet and romantic dinner. So if you're looking for a hidden treasure to dine at, you will find it Ortanique on Miracle Mile . Al and Kathy Germi

Excellent food. Hadn't been in years and luckily our planned spot could accommodate, so we headed down memory lane. The mussles fresh and the broth was delicious, as was the veggie pasta. The decor is whimsical and warm. Nice touch was that the menus have built in LED lights. They put together a slice of cake on a creatively decorated plate for my daughter's birthday. Excellent wines, excellent service. Won't wait so long again.

Cocktails were real good. Our server was super flustered not sure what was going on there but overall the service was good. Vegetarian menu changes everyday and today it was some coconut braised lentils which I did not enjoy, the black pepper was too much. But my friends got the salmon and scallops and they enjoyed it.
