Waited 10 minutes on hold just to place a to-go order. I get there and wait 10 minutes at the bar no one acknowledged me until I decided to get up and leave because my meter was expiring. It was the end of the lunch hour, they weren t busy. Get home to find out the order is wrong. No utensils in the bag either. Will definitely go elsewhere next time

A delectable dining experience! Outstanding menu selection of fresh, seasonal ingredients prepared to the highest quality. From the bread, to the appetizer, to the main course and martinis, everything exceeded my expectations. Consider this location one of the best culinary locations in all of Coral Gables. Overall the service was good. My second drink order was forgotten, but when they finally brought it out after being reminded, they made it extra !!!! The one thing I was a little disappointed was that we were asked for a reservation when 80% of the tables were open and were denied an indoor table. Even after we were done dining and the show next-door was getting ready to start, the restaurant was still half empty . I thought this was a bit snobbish but I guess they wanted people outside to make the restaurant look busier than it was. Needless to say the food was outstanding or I would ve complained to management about the slight.
Lunch deal is very good value for money. Friendly service, nice environment. Decent food.

For what Ortanique is advertised as and supposed to be, it simply does not live up to the hype. I get the distinct impression that this place has a loyal fan-club-- people who have come here for years and who simply give the place a pass based on fond memories and tradition.
The food is decent but by no means exceptional. A handful of items on the menu may be excellent (e.g. crab cake). But many other menu items are just average. The grilled chicken on my appetizer salad was dry, bland and terrible. Weak wine by the glass menu.
The service is pretty absent minded for a supposedly high end restaurant. Little things. No understanding of the wine list. You say you like cabernet, the waiter recommends a pinot as something you'll like. They forget to bring you a fork. They mess up your order by adding something to it that you never asked for and don't want. Just basics.
This place was probably once exceptional, but has definitely fallen off. They're very nice people though. If they weren't so nice, I'd say 2/5.
Better choice of appetizers than entres. Always wanted to check this place out and very dissapointed. Hostess not acommodating, service not gratifying. Best part Joel the bartender and his bar.

Creative High-Quality Caribbean fare. Surprisingly, it's all too rare in South Florida. Cindy Hutson knocks it out of the park with her talent for infusing fresh local ingredients with authentic Caribbean methods and styles. Over the years, consistency remains a remarkable forte in her long list of superlatives, but we never cease to be amazed at the next great thing to discover on the menu. The full service bar is known for great cocktails (an exceptional rum selection) along with an admirable wine list. For a respectable lunch or a very special dinner, you can't go wrong here.
If I could give them more stars, I would. Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere. Clean and well maintained. One of the best places I have been.

My new favorite after church spot! Love it. Very flavorful, very authentic. Prices are super reasonable. Definitely recommend the Mac and cheese. Fried plantains come with your entree. That's always a bonus. Try it out!

Fabulous consistent Caribbean food. Great chef who cares. Tuna is great and the hog snapper is fabulous. Great drinks and very professional staff. Expensive but worth it.

The food here is over priced for the quality you receive. I would go back to try the mango tres leche though. Also they were very accommodating for eating restrictions. So kind of vegan friendly.
Cuisine of the sun!!! Fresh, delicious, and mouth watering cuisine... great atmosphere and while we visited, the owners greeted guests and make them feel very welcomed!!! Try the Short Rib Crepes!!!
When you go out to a restaurant you're expecting a flavorful and special food; my wife and i ordered a lobster risotto unfortunately it doesn't taste as lobster, topping shrimp as garnish it didn't even mention it on the menu and rice was over cooked. We hope the chef could read this as soon as possible.
I'm surprised by all the 5 star ratings, this isn't a Michelin star restaurant. It's a nice place with good service and the food is decent, but not excellent. There are some good comfort food items: burgers, penne pasta, bean soup, short ribs. They offer daily specials to change up the menu a bit. The wine list is great. It's a quaint spot on Coral Way. I don't think you'll be disappointed but it won't blow you away.
Absolutely wonderful place to bring a date and have a 2 hour slow dinner. Happy Hour at the bar from 5-7pm with some amazing artisinal cocktails. This place has a loyal clientelle and many dining guests there are regulars. Restaurant opens at 6pm. Reservations not required but recommended...
Great Caribbean vibe, a wonderful modern fusion take on traditional Jamaican island dishes but without the pretentiousness & fast refined service.

The food is so consistently good that we are now regulars. I was given a gift certificate for this place and so I'm glad we tried it because Ortanique never disappoints.
This is such a warm and distinctive place to bring visitors from out of town. The reason for its longevity is that it succeeds in capturing a certain Pan-Caribbean SoFlorida vibe. People love the gourmet twist with a tropical splash that delights and is never arrogant. The prices are modest but, if you can't afford to eat here all the time, just have a seat at the spacious bar. They have an extensive selection of treats, including desserts, that will make your evening.

I am visiting from California and wanted to try the famous breadfruit tacos but they were not on the menu today. However the ambiance was superb, the customer service excellent, the staff attentive and the food was "to die for" delicious and flavorful. I'll definitely be back.

Great food and service. I ordered a pasta with chicken that was one of the specialties of the house and it was excellent. The plate was over 25$. Big portions. All the people that went with me really enjoyed it.
Im almost afraid to rate this place in fear of other people reading it and booking a reservation. It's my favorite little gem of a restaraunt on the mile in coral gables.
By far, the best restaraunt Gables has to offer. It's so special, we reserve it for special occasions regularly.
Staff is amazing, the chef is amazing, the atmosphere is perfect, wine selection amazing, etc.
Food was great and service was attentive. And you've got to try the garlic bread. But the menu choices are largely Caribbean.

Really excellent palm salad & rum cake. Good atmosphere and location. Apparently on Tuesdays, the whole wine menu is half price. I hope to come back on a Tuesday lol.

Great service, good food, a bit disappointing, ordered the Jerk pork chops and it was so bland and boring. Bread is amazing, jerk pasta is good, mushroom soup is excellent.
