Ormond Hotel Kilkenny Review

Doesn't meet 4-star standards . My breakfast was freezing No hair dryer in the room. Coffee was awful . Wouldn't stay again

Great location, lovely food and great value for money

Nice refurbished room and good location in the centre. The bathroom let the room down as it has obviously not been renovated and was rusty and a bit grubby in places. The room was extremely warm and there is no air con which on a hot day and evening was very uncomfortable, even with the fan provided by the hotel. Breakfast was average but staff were doing their best during the current circumstances. There were a lot of families and children and very family friendly. Only had starters as a nibble in the restaurant but what we had was really tasty. Would probably return but the hot room would turn me off a long stay.

Had a lovely lunch here to finish off a weekend in Kilkenny on Sunday. Waiter (never got his name) went above and beyond to cater for an awkward diet. Food was amazing

Rooms are in need of an upgrade....hotel bar closes before 11 pm midweek with plenty of customers looking for a drink and the leisure centre is tried and outdated.....excellent breakfast though.

Over priced. Needs a bit of a face lift and deep clean but great location.

Tough times for hotels so they have to be so much more attentive to customers requirements. KOH does this on spades

We was booked into Hibernian hotel , but under the circumstances of lockdown While we were making our way to Ireland,we was transferred to Kilkenny Ormonde and have to say they were fantastic couldn t do enough for us, Staff were brilliant and told them we will definitely be going back and staying there, we had to cut short our vacation but under the circumstances this hotel was exceptional xxx

Lovely place to stay right in the heart of Kilkenny. Although found the town rather small and only warranted a two day stay to really do it all.

staff were very friendly and pleasant lovely comfortable hotel room was perfect heating was perfect temperature. food was top class even though the menu looked bland we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food .we felt very safe during this pandemic the staff have all areas of safety covered..we will definitely come back here .

we had amazing time staying here the staff brilliant one stud out and that was mags couldnt do enough for us . Everything from the moment we arrive was catered for to we left . looking forward to staying there again. The wedding we attanded on 17/06/2016 was amazing the staff and the service is to a very high standard.

Very nice hotel. The staff is extremely nice and the food is pretty good. We also used the spa while we were here and the massages were excellent. Parking was very reasonable and right across the street from the hotel. Location is very central in the town with lots of restaurants just a few minutes walk away.

Had a wonderful weekend in Kilkenny Ormonde hotel. From the moment we walked in to the beautiful lobby of the Ormonde on Friday evening we were greeted with a warm welcome. Our Room was lovely and spacious. We where there for a Spa weekend
At the KO Spa in the Ormonde; fabulous the ladies were so lovely attentive to all our needs. Highly recommend it and it's reasonably priced to. We also had dinner in restaurant it was lovely . Staff in the Ormonde are friendly and nothing is to much. I certainly will be returning.

Clean and efficient hotel for overnight stay.Liked fruit bowl at reception.

It was very nice, and the city with its medieval side is beautiful. One of our favorites during our stay

Staff very nice but this is not 4 Star hotel. Room not clean, mould on bathroom tiles & believe it or not, what looked like Blood splashes on ceiling. We brought this to their attention & we where moved but to an equally 2 Star room with mould & cracks all over the dated decor. Would not recommend.

Loved this place, very comfortable beds. Close to the major attractions all within a walking distance. Major tourist area right around the corner and if you want to stay in they have a bar and delicious food there too.

I visited the leisure centre at the ormond..highly recommend it .Spacious changing rooms, fabulous 21meter pool . Staff are very friendly helpful & professional. Great programmes running during day, catering for all age groups / fitness levels

Honestly i was a bit disappointed with this hotel. For the price the rooms are dated and not what this hotel should be.

The bar and resturants are lovely.. The entrance and staff are nice.

Cracking hotel in the medieval town of Kilrenny, the hospitality was first class, food brilliant, catering for my Vegan choice. Room was extremely spacious and comfortable. Lovely place with lovely people.

Very disappointed in the meal from the Hoban at The Ormonde Hotel. The Warm Knickdrinna Cheese sandwich was very bland. The cheese wasn't warm or even close to melted. There was little to no pesto to speak of and the French sourdough was toasted for all of what seems like 10 seconds. The side salad was soggy and wilted and not tasty at all. Such a shame as the staff are so lovely and very helpful.
Side note, the Red Ale Battered Scallions are the most impossible thing to bite through without pulling out the entire scallion in one piece leaving behind all of the batter in your hand.

Recent family occasion. Well looked after. Nice hotel, good facilities for children. Well located in central Kilkenny.

Huge room with a double bed and a twin. Hotel is spitting distance from the castle and city center.

Great location but over all disappointed with our stay. Check in was suppose to be at 4 . Due to them being "slammed" we didn't get our room key until half 4. As our dinner was at 5 this was a major inconvenience . We did receive a late check out for our inconvenience. That was nice (but not needed). Bedrooms were comfortable and clean and set up for a double. However as we had a triple room 2 towels 2 cups 2 glasses was not sufficient. Breakfast was a nice spread but missed out on some essentials. Some people were seated. Some were not. No body came to ask if we wanted tea or coffee . After asking we eventually got some (Though This wasn't the person to ask but she did get the teas and coffees for us). Asked 3 different members of staff to refill the pancake mix. Asked another member of staff for water, he didn't even respond just grabbed the jug. There was one lovely woman at check in who helped us with storing our bags.

I went there for my 10th wedding anniversary with my wife we had a suite place it was beautifully laid out and service was excellent also very clean.

We were looking to be left alone which was excellent but if you are looking for more hands on service then they will also be at hand to help.

Closing at 17:30, we arrived at 17 and they told us it was closed.

I lost my jacket and little help to find it. Otherwise ok

Still waiting for the coffee.
Service dreadful.
Sad thing is it's was not an isolated case.
Surprised it still open.

I really like this hotel, for sure I would like to stay in this hotel again, the room are very nice and clean, the staff are very friendly and very helpful, the pool is very nice and the breakfast, lunch and dinner were very tasty.

Rooms were big ,clean big tv with lots of channels.no smoking area.breakfast was only ok .had to ask for tea and coffee 3 times before we got it and when it came the coffee looked and tasted like week tea.
We had no evening meal,
To pricey.

Central and v. accessible hotel. Good facilities and pleasant staff, nice pool and gym for residents. Bar food could be better.
