Orion Lending Review

My clients have been dealing with Orion Lending and we are trying to close on their property. Originally we were told "Oh, we'll be ahead of schedule!" Now, we are running on 3 weeks delayed. We have extended closing twice and the sellers are about to tell my buyers to go take a hike. This company lacks communication, their "turn around" times are more like suggestions and it seems like it is never the norm. When you call to find out what is going on, they tell you to talk to the mortgage broker. Well, what do I do when you're not giving the broker any information either?! This is truly one of those buyer beware situations. If your lender wants to put you with Orion, then run for the hills. There is no way you'll be closing on time.

Horrible communication I have three deals with them and everyone of them is behind schedules and they are so unapologetic it is disgusting. I especially am turned off by two individuals Megan Hatter and Troy Jones are examples of how not to do business in my opinion. I would look at working with Stearns Lending, or Homepoint Financial instead

Horrible! Save yourself the worse mortgage process "I have ever encountered!" The turmoil during and the nightmare, as a result of the lack of follow up and communication; that is essential detail needed in the process when you are buying a home.
The repercussion of using this company, still continues in my saga! Save yourself time and sleepless nights. Principle rule to follow here "caveat emptor!"

Orion was great. This was a very difficult loan and they stuck with it. The client was thrilled to be in his new home.

I love working with Orion Lending, they definitely know what to do to get your loan closed. In my 25 years of doing mortgages I have yet to find a better group of people to work with.

This place has taken the cake as the absolute worst wholesale lender our company has ever worked with. An absolutely horrible experience. Our AE stopped replying to calls and emails once things got messy with 2 loans we submitted to them. I would rather tell a client to find another broker than try and submit another file to this train wreck of an operation.

We consistently had to forward documentation to their underwriters to point out mistakes and errors in their interpretation of basic government loan guidelines. When we first submitted a file that got a prelim approval, the AE was constantly contacting us asking for more business but as we moved forward and their incompetence became so glaringly awful he simply disappeared and ceased to reply to emails or answer his phone. He left the account managers and UW's to handle all of their own messes. If you are a mortgage broker thinking of signing up with this outfit I would greatly discourage you.

The canned replies from the "VP" to the other negative comments are laughable. The others making negative comments are most likely employees of other broker shops who have also had the most horrible experience and customer service from Orion that we did.

Andrew Ortiz and Michael Fleming.....how long have you worked for Orion Lending? How long do you expect them to stay in business?

Shannon Reedy and Orion Lending have done a fantastic job with the files I have sent. I would highly recommend them to anybody.

I imploy anyone looking to refinance a property to STAY WELL AWAY from this company. Read all the negative reviews because they have basically said it all. The positive feedback must have been written from the employees themselves. I would give 0 stars if I could.

Chi Do is my contact at Orion Lending and the reason why I use Orion. She is always available, whether it's nights or weekends, extremely responsive to texts, and always helpful when answering questions. Chi has an excellent team - Maria, Nicole, Blanca, Alice, - I'm sure I'm missing a few names in there. I can always talk directly to the underwriter and Alice, the Account Manager who has been amazing to work with. Alice is always available and responsive to help explain conditions and get things moving along. The team at Orion is one of the best. My last loan closed in 21 days, enough said.

This is absolute worst experience I ve ever been through in a Mortgage Transaction.

They purposely dragged there feet when they had a complete file for over 3 weeks missing my rate lock window, costing me more money and delaying my closing.

Closed a Jumbo Portfolio loan with loan docs signed and dated around the 25th day after the submission package was uploaded to Orion's website.

Broker keeps telling me Orion cant get an appraiser to accept order and we have been under contract 40 days! Ive been a realtor in business 24 years and NEVER heard of this! Orion stinks!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Rates are aggressive, but NOT worth the trouble. Going on 75 days now, I pulled the app. Kept asking for the same information, didn't seem to read documentation sent. My financial picture is very strong, I'm just accessing cheap money, so no issues from my side. STAY AWAY - TRY ANYONE ELSE - NOT WORTH THE PAIN TO DEAL WITH THIS SAD EXCUSE FOR A COMPANY

American Dream turned American Horror Story! Orion does not care that there are people and families on the other side of their transactions. They straight LIED several times, getting us to continue to beg the seller to extend our timeline. Seller was moving out of state and lost their potential home because of trying to work with us. After being told we were cleared to close, we gave notice on our apartment; 30 days later we had to move and still didn t have docs to sign. We spent 10 days homeless with our stuff packed in a uhaul! Several times I pleaded with them to just let us know if they were actually going to give us a loan because I have a special needs daughter and significant health issues. They had no compassion at all. They actually complained to our agent that we called daily asking for status, and told us to stop calling. I have no idea what they get out of being so completely incompetent.
After 60 days we lost out on the house, and had to get a rental. It s hard to fathom the complete disregard for customer service.
If your loan is then Orion Be AFRAID... Be VERY AFRAID! They don t deserve a single star!!

I have been working with Orion on a file for almost 60 days. I believe Orion does not know what they are doing. If you are a broker beware you will be totally disappointed in every file. I have already lost one file and I m about to lose the other file due to their incompetency. They have made me extend the lock on the borrow charging more. I believe this is their ploy to make more money on the borrower and pay less to the broker. They are a serious joke. Consider other wholesale lenders before you start a file with Orion. I believe what they are doing is against the law and I will report them to every regulatory agency!

Stay away!!! worst experience. They give you an initial approval based on RSUs but underwriters tend to ask for more documentation which even when produced would get nitpicked (like on the definition of terms like RSUs) . This has so far lead to a loss of 35,000$ in my closing. Hoping they will atleast close on time for the loan amount.

If I could give - 5, I would. This is the worst company ever. Please keep yourself from trouble by staying away from them. I have been doing loans for the last 13 years and this is the worst ever. Please do the world a good deed by closing down the business.

Really good lender and underwriting team, easy closings

Worst.company.ever! I had to give 1 star just so I could leave this review. But they don't deserve it. Terrible customer service with me, my mortgage broker and Title company. There were multiple people working on my file, yet nobody ever seemed to have answers to our questions and we were all given the runaround at every turn. I was instructed to print and fax over some documents that contained personal info and when I called to confirm receipt, I was told that was not the correct fax number, mind you it was listed on the paperwork they made me print versus digital uploading like I had with other documents. I asked whose fax number it was I was told "we have no idea" and there was zero concern about my info being sent into the digital abyss. I had to sign multiple extensions and feared the seller was going to say forget it. 109 days later finally a closing date is set and I gave Title my cash to close and was supposed to go in the next morning to sign and when I got there low and behold they hadn't sent all the paperwork over and Title was in the dark on what was missing. When Title tried to sort out what was happening, Orion claimed they get a "200 emails every 2 minutes" and we would have to wait yet again for them to figure out what was going on. Horrific communication and no sense of urgency to fix the situation. No regard for how stressful buying and selling a home is and an absolutely terrible experience. Save yourself the trouble and stay away from them!

The A/E and the Account Manager were available and responsive in a very timely manner. Loan started on 09/06. Funded, recorded, completed 09/29. WOW. For a credit challenged loan with bells and whisles....great job Michelle....

I just closed a VA loan with these guys and there is not enough good words to say about them, their process seamless and the people from rep to underwriter to funder fantastic !!! I highly recomend them!!

This is one of the worst companies I have deLt with. They have had my file for over 30 days now and with no response. There communication is horrible. They lost my documents then we had to upload them again and still haven t heard from them. Poor communication !!!

I WILL BE SENDING AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL THE MORTGAGE GROUPS ON MY EXPERIENCE WITH ORION. ORION DOES NOT VALUE THE BROKER NOR THE BROKER'S CLIENTS. IT'S NOT FAIR TO BE IGNORED FOR DAYS AND SOMETIMES WEEKS BY YOUR AE, THE JUNIOR UNDERWRITER PUTS CONDITIONS ON THE FILE WITHOUT CALLING YOU AND THERE ISN'T A NAME OR NUMBER FOR THE JUNIOR UNDERWRITER. LASTLY WHEN THE ACCOUNT MANAGER WHO HOLDS ALL YOUR LOANS IN THE PALM OF THEIR HANDS HANGS THE PHONE UP IN YOUR FACE BECAUSE YOU TOLD THEN THEY HAD TO HAVE LOST YOUR LOANS DOCUMENTS (TITLE DOCS) BECAUSE HOW COULD A LOAN HAVE A CLEAR TO CLOSE AND THE BROKER NEVER SUBMITTED TITLE DOCUMENTS? ANSWER: IT CAN'T HAPPEN. NO LOAN WILL EVER BE CLEAR TO CLOSE WITH TITLE DOCS NOT REVIEWED BY THE SENIOR UNDERWRITER. ORION HAS A REPUTATION FOR IGNORING BROKERS, AND I HAVE FOUND THAT TO BE TRUE IN SENDING MY CLIENTS FILES TO THEM! PLEASE BE AWARE BROKERS AND ALSO CONSUMERS IF YOU WANT TO CLOSE ON TIME OR AT ALL, IT'S NOT THE FAULT OF YOUR BROKER/LOAN OFFICER SOLELY IN MOST CASES IF YOUR LOAN IS BEING UNDERWRITTEN BY ORION LENDING! What a horrible company I qualify for my home yet they have dragged the process out for months this effects my family my children when we dont have a home and need one my children had no place to go because of this place refusing to sign i qualify yet they still refuse they should not be in business 3 months still not closed

Terrible communication, they asked for same documents more than 3 times," file has been completed " They said more than 5 times and then ,,,, there is a missing document a missing signature and again waiting. Have extended closing day twice , my buyers are about to lose their investment and I have been waiting for an final CTC since last week being promised, give me an hour, give me 2 hours and NOTHING , title company has scheduled and reschedule this closing 3 times, We are all WAITING and NOTHING ..... I WILL NEVER NEVER EVER USE ORION AGAIN!!!!!!

Great company to work with. Amazing customer service, great communication, and competent AEs give me confidence when working with Orion. I've had no issues with them and will continue to be with them. Highly recommend to anyone in the industry.

Just got denied 4 weeks after closing date that they kept moving. Underwriter kept adding conditions and I jumped through every hoop for them and did everything they asked over and over just to be denied 2 days before I have no where to live for my family and myself. Absolutely pathetic that a company like this is so unprofessional and disrespectful. We are real people with real lives that they just play games with. I do not recommend this company they will get back to you at the last moment, after your time is up.
Thanks orion for destroying a dream for my 3 little girls, my wife and me, we deserve better.

Worst mortgage broker ever!!! We were scheduled to close Dec 1. Didn't close until almost 3 months later. Maurice Federbush was the processor. All you get are lies and excuses. FIND ANOTHER COMPANY!!!

One of the best wholesale lenders there is! Clark and Joseph are a great team and they do a great job in getting the loan closed!

DO NOT USE! They had the file for 65 days and still kept delaying the closing. All loan docs were in but said they were behind and kept delaying things. Orion kept saying tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. Don't use this mortgage company. Ask a friend for recommendations, use anybody but these guys! When you call they just pass the phone on to the next guy. There are far better lender options!

Would not recommend this company, they are rude to their customers, unprofessional. Treat people as less. I think their staff could use some more hospitality training.

Shannon's team at Orion is very efficient and customer-oriented. I was very happy with Shannon's help in getting my most recent loan funded. A periodic team level teleconference at major funding milestones will enhance the operations even further. Thank you, Shannon!

Worst experience ever!!!!! Should have been a simple refinancing with no money being withdrawn, only lowering our interest rate. It took over 6 weeks for them to get the appraisal done which they charged me double for as well as a rush fee, and then the appraisal wasn t even correct and I had to fight with the company to get reimbursed for the double charge. Not sure whose house some of the pictures came from or how the appraiser came up with the location of my home, but a lot of that was not correct! Then the underwriter kept asking for additional paystubs that we had no clue what they were talking about as we had provided them with every paystubs we had. Apparently, she was confusing my refi with someone else s. Then she required us to get various inspections done on my home which of course cost us more more. After 3 months of still not closing and over $1,300 out of our pockets, my husband and I cancelled the refinance and went with Wells Fargo who ended up getting us an even cheaper rate and less in closing costs! Absolutely the worst company we have ever tried to do business with. I do not advise anyone to use Orion Lending to purchase nor refinance their home. Thank God we did not sign with them other wise we would be stuck with them for 30 years.

We just closed our first loan with Orion, and it was a great experience from beginning to end. Great technology interface - very simple and intuitive - and everyone who touched the file was extremely friendly, professional and responsive. We will be sending a lot more loans to Orion!

Worst lending company we were supposed to close on March 25th 2016 and still haven't close. During the 60 days closing they pretty much didn't pay mind to the file till last minute. In top of that the closing disclosures stated wrong numbers meaning I was thinking of bringing an amount to closing and at last minute they informed us a totally wrong number. Please do not use this company and spread the word. Companies like this need to be out of business. Thanks Orion Landing for being such idiots and incompetent individuals.

Closing dates are not a priority. Communication is poor at best. Submiited a purchase loan and took over 2 months to close. Pricing is aggressive, just not sure the tradeoff is worth it.

A great experience closing a jumbo new construction mortgage with Orion Wholesale. The team in Orange, CA went out of their way to accommodate a timely underwriting approval, closing and funding.

Absolutely TERRIBLE company to "try" and work with! It took nearly THREE MONTHS to have underwriting decline our loan based on ONE document (401k) terms of withdrawal! We have NEVER been declined a loan before! STAY WELL AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! I believe many of the good (5 star) reviews are somehow related to the company or have been paid for.

I would never work with this lender again! Their timelines were consistently late( Cd sent out 8 days after scheduled close of escrow) 5 days to review CD; 14 days to get loan docs out and 3 day prior to funding review! Finally funded on a Friday, too late to record, rolled into following Monday and cost buyers minimum $2100 late fee's. Total of 3 weeks late to close!

We are still in the midst of a closing. This group is terrible. Absolutely awful. We have already waited a month over first closing date. DO NOT USE THEM EVER.
