The staff was super helpful, the animals look well taken care of and we got to visit with a few animals when we arrived after filling out some paper work. I love that you are able to go in and see the animals and a little bio about each one. It is important to them that the animals are adopted out to the right owners.

Had to take my dog's remains there to be cremated. I was pretty broken up about the loss and the staff there was very kind and respectful. Not exactly the part of their many services I'm looking forward to being a repeat customer of but they made the best out of s bad situation.

500 for a puppy? A mutt, no less! Holy cow! What a racket, guess the board members want more lavish vacations. Third rate, tax write off "vet checks" not to mention how many animals die after being spayed/neutered here. This is without a doubt the most corrupt "shelter" in Oregon.

Love my adorable kitty that I adopted here. It was so easy and fast, and I love the take home package they provide for cats for $40 (litter box, litter, cat food wet and dry, a feather wand and two jingle bell toys)

I adopted a rabbit from OHS 7 months ago and found the process to be easy and comfortable. They allowed me to hold her in my lap and see how she handled it, and it was love at first sight. Now she is a happy house rabbit and rules over a 700 sq. ft. apartment. Thank you OHS.

The staff and volunteers at the Oregon Humane Society were simply amazing. Unfortunately the two dogs that I had met didn't work out for - no fault for their own. Looking for a pet that fits your lifestyle and that you can bond with isn't an easy process and it can take lots of time/patience.

In order to meet a dog, you must complete a form with your information, living situation etc. On the two separate occasions when I was there, the wait was relatively fast and I was surprised especially after reading reviews of how long the wait can be. Both times, the volunteers were really helpful and provided me lots of information on the animals. The two dogs were extremely sweet but just didn't fit my active lifestyle.

I think that a lot of the negative reviews comes from inexperienced pet owners, rushed decisions and also, lack of common sense. It is normal for newly adopted pets that have diarrhea - they are adjusting to new environment, new food and under stress from being in a shelter. For those that are on a fixed budget who are complaining about vet bills should looking into fostering rather than adopting. Animal ownership is very costly and many people who rush into adopting pets don't fully understand the responsibility and the hard work that goes into owning a pet. People who are getting pets for their "kids" need to give their head a shake, your kids will not be picking up after the dogs, training the dogs or paying for vet care. Get your kid an iPad instead.

We just adopted a 9 week-old pup today. Our customer care rep, Tricia, was very knowledgeable and helpful. Everything went so smoothly and we are so pleased about the whole process. I have been making donations every year or had volunteered for doggie
dash in the past. I will continue to support this organization.

Very clean and comfortable place for you to meet your future pet. Has dogs, cats, gerbels, rabbits, and even mice & rats. Was not looking for a horse myself, but they might even have those!

Every person was friendly and more than happy to go out of their way to help you. I would highly recommend Oregon Humane Society to even the 'just looking' group!

WOW, read the reviews and was thoroughly DISGUSTED with people that would have the nerve to negatively review a NON-PROFIT organization formed for the betterment of animal welfare. This organization relies upon donations and volunteers to function. Are the volunteers human? yes. Will they make mistakes? I am sure. Is anyone perfect? No....I have adopted from this organization several times. Top notch organization. Keep up the good work.....And to those who feel the need complain, GET A LIFE! maybe if you took your time to volunteer and give to humanity you might find you were too busy to take the time to tarnish the image of an non profit on the internet......You might try to stop sucking off of society and start giving.......

Went to look at a 3 month old pitbull puppy. Was very displeased with the way they were treating him. Aparently he bit a client he went home with and cornered them in their home over a food dish. I think there is more to it. How does a 3 month old puppy do this to a person? Lol. It seemed like they were trying to find every reason not to give me the dog. I made it very clear I wanted him and was willing to work with him they were very rude and improperly training the dog. All the water dishes in the yellow pod were pretty much empty all the dogs looked malnurished and underfed including the pitbull puppy I was looking at because they were hand feeding him more treats than dog food. Considering I just lost my last pitbull and finally built up to getting another one I was very displeased and will never return to this god forsaken hell hole again. Maybe if more people donated they would fill up a couple of them water dishes

Very well organized just make some time or appt if you want to meet with a potential pup.
Plenty of parking by the way if you make a stop.
And note there is a one hour buffer before end of day hours for visiting and seeing pets.

Went to adopt a cat for my daughter, everyone was so nice and helpful. We were able to walk through the Cat section and interact with them, see which ones we connected with.

Found two, a 3 month old and a 1 year old and got the information for each so we could see which was a better fit for us. They have small rooms that potential adopters and a staff member can go into with their cats to better see how well they respond to each other.

We were given pointers, tips, and any insight from the previous owner/foster family. When we'd chosen our new family member, filled out paperwork, got even more information, got a nice bit of supplies to go home with, paid the adoption fee and then were out the door.

The entire process took roughly 2 hours, gives or take, so if you go in expecting to be in & out, it doesn't work that way. Just as you're figuring out if you've connected with a certain pet, the staff is looking to see how well you interact with them. It has to be a good match on both sides.

If I could give the Oregon Humane Society 10 stars I would; the entire place, the staff and volunteers, the procedures, the cleanliness were all superb!

This is a great place that does a lot of fantastic work for the community. They are not animal control...they are a humane society...seems like some reviewers here don't realize that. I am always greeted with a smile even when they're slammed with visitors.

They gave me a cat that they knew had diarrhea. Don't take their word when they say that the animal you're looking is healthy and never had health issues. I went in November to get a kitten, it turns out that the Oregon Humane Society had More

A few months ago, my boyfriend and I were looking ...

A few months ago, my boyfriend and I were looking for a cat to have as an emotional support animal. The thing was I was still waiting for my paperwork to go through with me being able to have pets in my apartment complex. Knowing there were a lot of people in my complex with cats and all sorts of dogs, it was inevitable that I'd be approved.

When the time came for me to view a particular cat, I let the worker know about my current situation, not as a way to say "I might not get the cat" but as a "I will come back for it later." I was excited and happy that I would finally get a cat. So filled with hope.

After we had left the first cat and ready to see another one (one that wasn't hissing and ready to attack), the worker I had told my situation to told one of her higher-ups, and she had no problem explaining this to me... Loudly... On a Saturday morning... In front of dozens of people watching the entire thing.

"Policy at the Oregon Humane Society is that you aren't allow to meet any of the animals if your apartment complex doesn't allow them. If you need to have paperwork done, do so before meeting with the animals otherwise you are wasting our time. Have a nice day."

I left embarrassed and in tears. And I vowed I will never come here again. Boyfriend, who works in customer service, agreed that she was in the wrong for that.

This was my first visit there is 20 years. My husband said he wanted to take a look. I really didn't want to go bc last time it was doggie jail and smelled foul. I was so suprised to see how far they've come. It's a beautiful facility. Animals are kept well. Dogs have their own little apartments. They have play rooms for you to check out your pups before deciding on one. It's a maze in there. So make sure you hit every COLOR area.

What can you say about a place that takes in animals and finds them new homes? Staff that volunteer their time and genuinely care. 5 stars in my book. If you are looking for a animal friend, consider looking here.
