Two months old, it was, when we visited, by chance, one evening after arriving in Kemptown for 2 nights in August, looking for somewhere to eat.
Good pizzas and nothing more, except a good white Sicilian wine, and a pleasing chilled glass of water on arrival, to sip while we chose.
Good luck with your new venture; we enjoyed it

A new place. Very neat! I am Italian and I love pizza because... it is kind of in my genes, and I probably visited several hundreds pizzerias. The pizza was very good, probably close to napolitan tradition (thick edge). I tried the margherita which is a classic benchmark. I also appreciated the Burrata. I will be back for tasting something else.

Excellent food and good service. Little limited on desserts - but it was a Tuesday so x
Also a little limited on side dishes. Would have liked some green beans or something. Xx

Food was fresh and hot and very tasty.

Nice simple, authentic pizza.

Okay, so this is the first time I've felt compelled to complain about a pizza delivery, but just about everything about my order was horrible.
We ordered 2 pizzas and a garlic flat bread through Deliveroo.
The pizzas arrived completely smashed, sauce all over the inside of the box, crust folded in on itself.
The crust on both pizzas was crazy burnt, charcoal all over the box.

Can't tell you how irritating this was.
Deliveroo did nothing to help.

I was never a massive pizza eater before Woodbox opened nearby and now I have it almost every week. I bloody love these - amazing dough and expensively sourced, high-end ingredients including the buffalo mozzarella. The wine list is small but terrific. It s a warm, convivial space too. Surely, hands down the best pizzeria in Brighton and probably far beyond.

Love it! I was lucky to go on the opening night and was delighted to discover a genuine neighbourhood pizzeria had been created in the old Sam's which has been closed and unused for far too long. The food was fantastic (the sour dough dips deserve a special mention!) and the whole vibe absolutely spot on, with much credit due to the friendly team that are on hand and engaging. Well done, i'll be back!

Amazing pizzas at this neighbourhood gem. Light and chewy bases are topped with delicious ingredients like buffalo mozzarella, portabello mushrooms and Stilton. Top it off with local craft beer or a very interesting wine selection. Staff are friendly and welcoming. It's a winner!

Such good pizza and a very convenient location. We had the Thai Chicken pizza and it was so much better than expected. Their crust is the perfect balance between crispy and soft. Our server was very welcoming and took good care of us. We will definitely be coming back!

Had lunch at this new restaurant today, very nice fennel sausage pizza. Proper wood burning oven gives a fantastic smoky flavour. The staff were knowledgeable and very friendly. Recommend highly!

When we visited, Woodbox had been open just 12 days but you would never have known it. Service was efficient and, well, just really nice. This was a delightful Brightonesque experience.

We started with dough strips with three dips which turned out to be four as the chef was experimenting. The experiment was at least as good as the threesome which is really saying something including a beautifully balanced tapenade (not always easy to get right).

Pizzawise we asked about the salami and saucisson, not liking to eat previously unhappy animals. The main man came and plonked himself down next to us and told us all about it. Reassured, we ordered a stonking wild fennel saucisson pizza with bits of rosemary that complemented the meat perfectly. It was all washed down with a splendid Sicilian house white (it was a sunny day).

Despite the efficiency the vibe was totally laid back and overall it was embarrassing to be asked for a measly 43 quid at the end (exc service).

We'll be back, often.

PS The pictures on the walls were fab too.

We came here literally an hour before it closed and they did not hold back on the quality! This is probably the best Pizza I've ever had. So good. They didn't rush us either and were really nice. I'd highly recommend this place!

Superb pizzas. Excellent service (sorry didn't get your name.... Skinny, sparkly eyes and smile, attentive, good sense of humour), excellent wine. Acoustics still not brilliant but works with the relaxed atmosphere and food.

Terrible. How can they get pizza wrong. It was cold and they even apologised as serving it, saying it's cold !!!! Shocking service had to ask for drinks and waited ages for our cold pizza. Paid for our drinks and left and didn't eat the cold pizza. Apparently there were short staffed. You run a business, you need to find a solution, only seat the number of people you can serve if you are short staffed. In response to woodbox comments ; Google prompted me to write this last week ( I visited this restaurant last year giving it 1 star with no reason why) And i did review lots of other places last week that I have visiting in the last few months. Most of them receiving 4 and 5 star reviews. Again an auto prompt from Google. I complained at the time in the restaurant. And can only apologise for not adding my comments sooner.

Just finished our first takeaway from this fabulous pizzeria.

Hands down best pizza I've had outside of Rome. Gorgeous bread, fresh ingredients, great flavours and great portions.

Price is definitely reflective of the high quality and size of pizza.

We also had the starter box and were pleasantly surprised by the heap of tasty, crispy dough sticks and ample varied and exceptionally tasty dips.

As this pizzeria is only 5 minutes from our house we'll definitely going to become regular patrons.

Highly, highly recommend!
