This zoo exceeds expectations. The new exhibits and play areas are beautiful, educational and fun. Can't wait for the new additions to open up. Definitely worth the membership. I especially love adventure land for my littles and the mother/baby care station in this area. There are private nursing rooms, family restrooms, and changing table 's galore. The play river is great for kids of all ages .
We attended comedy night and had a blast! Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald is so funny! The appetizer stations had good selections. The zoo staff were all friendly and helpful. It was a different experience at night with adults only. Pretty cool! I just have to mention, there were plenty of trash and recycling receptacles placed throughout the aquarium, yet some people would just leave their food trash wherever. Seriously, stop being a pig, have some manners, and think about the other guests that may want to use your table.
Place is beautiful with good infrastructure. Mainly kids will enjoy the zoo. Unfortunately u can't cover entire zoo in 1day if your a animal lover.
Other zoos are depressing as the animals are on cement and have no shade or trees. This place is too notch. The animals look happy and are in great enclosures. It's always really clean and we have loved using the splash pad after we do a full walk through. Can't wait to keep coming back! Great place to come with a group of friends and their littles.
The zoo is so good you'll wish you were a monkey in a cage.
We love it here. This zoo is known nationally and is a great place to bring the family or even go on a date. I recommend a zoo pass though, which comes with many perks. They even have a splash pad for the kids to cool off in. Another great thing we love is the misters, they have them throughout the zoo to cool you off. Definitely worth a visit.
Omaha resident went to another zoo which was EVERYTHING that Omaha does not have or remember. It seems like Omaha has forgot that it's about conservation . It's more about "entertainment" in Omaha. After seeing Houston Zoo Omaha should be ashamed to call themselves number 4 in the world.

I love zoos and this has been the best zoo I have been to in my life. You can easily spend 2 days here to see everything with kids.
We had a blast. Love that there is a water pad for the kids to cool down. There are many interactive areas. Fun for everyone!
The best zoo!! All sorts of activities for young and old. I believe it has been rated as one of the top three in the nation. The rain forest is simply beautiful.
You can take the tram or you can walk.
They have scooter rentals for those that can't walk very far.

Watching the penquins was so much fun. Going through the aquarium area was fascinating.
There is so much to see, that if it is possible for you, go for two days. At the very least, go early and plan to spend the entire day there.
Very disapointing. You do a lot of walking and hardly see any animals. Train ride was just as bad.
Very cool and amazing structure. Ecosystem is mimicked to give the full story, feel it, see it, live it. Walked around the entire complex. Maybe sure you grab a map at the door and then go and explore!
We all loved the sharks and big fish at the aquarium. Also the giraffes, elephants, and gorillas were fun to watch.My grandsons loved the sharks and monkeys and lemurs. Rode the tran too was a fun filled day.
Great value. Please people quit feeding the ground squirrels they are huge pests when you're trying to eat lunch.
Fantastic zoo and one of my favorite places to visit.
There is some work taking place, but overall it is a nicely set up and an interesting zoo. It is perfect for kids and a must do if you are in the area. I suggest taking advantage of at least one of the rides, the ski lift has an overhead view. In the Summertime, it is best to visit in the morning, many of the animals were hiding out by around 10 or 11. It did get very busy being the last weeks of summer vacation, so a weekday may have been a better idea as it was super crowded.

Amazingly fun year after year! So big you can't even see every thing in a day, and every year they add more exhibits! So wonderful!
Fun, but it was a hot day and the map made it seem like we could go through an area that ended up being locked and we had to walk clear back the other way across the zoo uphill. My children had fun though and that was worth it.

The Henry Doorly Zoo has been under construction for quite some time. I finally visited the zoo last weekend and the layout is amazing. The African section was built beautifully and it was nice to see the giraffes in an intimate setting inside the Herb Room
We ordered cheese burgers from the African Lodge and they were delicious. Toppings came on the side and the indoor seating was awesome.
And last but certainly not least, the amazing Aquarium! My favorite place of the entire Zoo! The shark tunnel is just so relaxing.
Would like to have seen more animals and not have to walk from Point A to Point Z and have to go back the same way, but the weather was great, the food was great and all in all, a very enjoyable evening.
1st time visiting the zoo since we moved here. I would have to say the best zoo we have ever visited. Lovely experience. It was busy was the only complaint but it didn't take away from the overall visit. Loved!

The best Zoo in the world! If you're local or visit often, totally worth getting a yearly pass. Keep an eye out for special events, especially Brews at the Zoo nights! I recommend visiting the entire park and take the Skyfari!
The Desert Dome had very interesting creatures in it. It was a little dark in a few places so that you couldn't see the animals in the habitats. And there were a couple screamers (kids) but it was a very good place. Our schedule for the day didn't allow us to see the larger animals like the elephants giraffes gorillas. I really wish we had had the chance to see them as in Illinois zoos there are no more elephants. All in all, it's a beautiful place to go to learn about God's amazing creatures.
This is very nice place to visit with Kids . Kids will learn something in every visit. This Zoo is Vast it won't complete with 1 , 2 visits .. they came new exhibits this time ..liked it ..as always.

Great exhibits and amazing movies. Construction gets in the way of the experience when it comes to sounds and sights. Other than that, a great visit and place to make memories!

We come here all the time. It really doesn't get old seeing all the animals doing different things each time. It may seem cliche to say, but for anyone that's never been or visiting the area, "have you seen our zoo!?"
If you're reading this in spring/summer 2018 and you're on the fence about planning a road trip to the Zoo this year, consider waiting until the 2019 season when the big new Asian Highlands expansion opens and other construction projects finish. 2018 will be a great Zoo summer, but 2019 will be even better!
The most amazing zoo I've ever stepped foot in! Desert dome is amazing, tunnel of sharks in the aquarium, rainforest with animals right next to you. You're inches from animals, out in the open! Just awesome.

Incredible!!!! Best zoo I have been to. It is absolutely well thought out and you get so close to the animals in every exhibt. The grounds are stunning! Such a wide variety of plants, trees and flowers. Perfect for plant and animal lovers to spend the day. You can also take a boat ride, sky ride or train and tram.
Rated one of the best in the nation. Plenty attractions for the whole family of all ages. A must visit for tourists and locals.
Usually I love this place but will no longer be a visitor. There was not much at all to see and also on their website there was a different price for admission for their spring admission. The women did not honor it she said that was not their site when she literally seen me enter in the site directly. Either way that is fine I paid the normal price I was not going to argue it. Their was nothing to see for the 2 1/2 hour drive.
Crowded on the weekends but that is to be expected. One of the best zoos you will find. The staff is helpful and courteous, the sights are wonderful. Excellent place for kids.

I was Amazed by everything that there is to see here. The zoo is huge so you definitely need a half a day to enjoy it all. I love that there are plenty of places to grab a snack or stop and eat especially on super hot days. The habitats are some of the best I've even seen in a zoo (which is very important to me). Unfortunately for me i had to cut the visit short but I do hope to return some day.
Best zoo in the country I have ever been to. They are open year round. Continually working on new exibits, this past year they opened several acres for an African exhibit and now they are working on several acres more for an Asian exhibit. It is definitely worth getting an annual membership for a bit over $100.00 for a couple or about $25.00 more for a family. Even when my wife an I only want to go for a walk we go there. Sure beats a gym and the air is fresher as well. They have a couple play area for kids. On me is a small water splash are (difficult to describe, zoo oriented) but if I was a kid you could definitely find me there. If water is not your thing they have a huge (about an acre) jungle gym, and jungle actually works for descriptor in this case. It also appears to be a lot of fun. Membership is a definite good thing.

Normally love this Zoo. But right now there are numerous areas closed. Food is medocre. Would expect more for the cost of admission. Needs to be cheaper until they are done with the renovation.
Greate zoo hands down!!!! I would gove it 6 stars if possible but the the sea turtle cafe inside takes about 1 hour of wait in line to sell 2 slices of pizza :(. This is bad if you are from out of town like us and already have limited time to cover all exhibits because of the travel to the zoo.
Amazing place to visit. You might want to plan for more than one day, especially with children. The play areas for kids is simply an entire day by itself. Also, we saw tons of animals. Even when they were sleeping we saw then. Try have free roaming animals as well. My daughter loved the experience and we will be going back.

Had a blast! All the animals seemed happy and well fed, we saw multiple caregivers giving animals snacks and special attention throughout the day. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the good is SO PRICEY! However, you can bring in backpacks and coolers and could easily pack your own lunch to save money. Great experience and I'm sure that next time will be different because they are always adding on!

We did a sleeping bag overnight in the Aquarium with the penquins! Highly recommend it if you have the opportunity! The new Asian Highlands were impressive!
If you are reading this, please be a good zoo visitor- don't use flash photography or your phone flashlight near the animals! We saw so many people do this :(
This place is amazing. Bring your walking shoes because you're going to want to see everything. I wouldnt bother going anywhere near the north entrance unless you have small kids to take to the childrens area / water park area though. They got everything you're going to want to see except for the bears. I miss the bears. Pro tip, arrive at opening so you can get through the aquarium, jungle and desert dome first (in that order) because they get packed. Employees are polite and helpful if you need to ask for directions to anything. The recent construction however does make it a little difficult to navigate. And dont forget that the best family photo opportunity is the lion pride statue just inside the south gate.
This is a zoo on steroids! We spent.three hours here today and couldn't believe the wide variety of animals! Lions, tigers, and bears, and more! Birds, lizards, penguins, flamingos, and insects!! You're close enough to the animals to be amazed, but not so close that you're in danger! A day very well spent!

Amazing zoo! Spent all day and still missed one exhibit, there's so much to see and do! Stingray beach was my favorite because you get to pet them and they are like little sea puppies! To be safe I'd say to try to go 2 days in order not to rush and be able to see everything. Had such a good time, would definitely go back again!
Have been going every few years for over 50 years & the zoo always amazes me! The new big cat exhibit was incredible and seeing elephants here again - and thriving in their new area just made our day. The baby sea lion was adorable. So many new & improved areas! Only 2 things kept visit at 4 stars - the new Alaska area has several new food vendors but they all sell the same food?? And we are at the Treetop Cafe.... I had 2 tacos, a small cup of fruit, & a souvenir drink.... for $17+ dollars??? That's beyond overpriced. Still the best zoo going - but I'd eat before you go.

Two visits but still could not finish the zoo. Unique in it's on way! The rain forest, the aquarium, the desert dorm. The ambience in each section is created well.

Even in the winter, we weren't sure what to expect but it was a lot of fun and so much indoors so the little ones don't get too cold. Just walking outside to get to the next Exhibit
Visited here in July with my husband and two kids, 10 and 7. All had a great time, there is so much to see. We thought our zoo back home was pretty great but it's nothing compared to this. We did the package with the 'skyfari' and other rides. We only had one day here so I would suggest doing the skyfari since you're able to see some enclosures that you may not have had time to walk to if you have limited time. Plus the best vantage point for the big cats by far. Would recommend and could spend more than a day here if time permitted!

Fantastic zoo in all respects! So much to see, you need several visits to get through everything. Well kept and maintained, a pleasure to visit with a family day outing or just a couple hours to take in an exhibit or two.
I was very disappointed to see one-time use plastic water bottles for sale in your concession stand. Because they injure and kill marine animals, don't these bottles undermine your marine conservation efforts?
Hands down the BEST zoo I've ever been to! Between the extensive amounts of exhibits; the open, spacious habitats; and the strategically placed fountains and mist stations, this makes for a perfect toddler day trip. We only got to see the African Grasslands and the Aquarium too, so there's still lot to see.
Nice day in December with plenty of zoo keepers interaction even in the slow season. Exciting to see all the construction for more great future exhibits!
Great exhibits - love that they keep adding and updating. Definitely not the zoo I grew up with and in a good way! Movies are included with a membership - for our family, a trip and a movie equals the cost of a year's fee
Fantastic zoo for the family! It's huge, I love the waterfalls and the variety of animals there. Great place to take the kiddos for a walk. It can take a day to go to the whole zoo with young kids.
Huge zoo. We barely saw half the zoo in 3 hours before succumbing to the 100F hot day. The attraction quality is great and they are maintained very well. We will be back to see the rest for sure!
Its great this was my first time there on labor day. It was very informative and educational and still very fun and entertaining. Was a lot of walking very hard to see it all in one day. May have to rent a wheelly cart next time. We will definitely be back maybe even get a membership.

I have song standing hatred of zoo's. But this one has so much effort put into making the animals have space and comfort that I can actually enjoy myself. And all of the exhibits are full of breathtaking detail and on such a huge scale. Awesome place

This is my third time visiting the zoo. When we went the most recent time, the attractions were over crowded due to the cold weather (no fault of the zoo) but the ticket prices were still the same. $18 for adults, $12.95 for kids 3-11. I know they are undergoing construction and some of the attractions are not up and running yet, but that should be reflected in the ticket prices. Also, if you have a weak stomach, stay out of the dome! The smells are terrible. I understand that comes with the territory of housing animals, but a new ventilation system is definitely needed.
Our family did have a great day here. Clean, nice designs and variety of animals. You should prepare to spend whole day here as it is wide and many themes to see (Africa, Asia, Aquarium, Desert and Night Kingdom,...). My favorite one is Lied Jungle where you can really have the feeling of walking in the Rain Forest. My son absolutely enjoy the Water Playground for Kids, very fun and splashy! We would love to be back.
Loved the aquarium. Was disappointed as I didn't get to see the lion and leopard. Not a lot of food options. A perfect place for day trip.
Feeding the giraffes is so fun! The Lied Jungle is a must...the desert dome is a must. And more to come soon!
Great time, too much to see ,always dress to walk bring a fat wallet if you have kids lots to spend on. Touching the stingrays was the high point of our day. Great experience if you have the chance go spend all day

We love coming here to see animals we don't see normally and greatly enjoyed our visit
Fun for what they had but definitely not worth $25 a piece. Tons of exhibits were closed, tons of animals off display. Not to mention it was boiling hot and most of the animals were out of water or had very little like the poor sea lions and you couldn't even see half the animals because they were hidden in an area where the public could not get a even a glimpse. Also what's the point of barriers that make it so we can't get close and enjoy animals and things? Most animals can't give us Covid, nor can we give them covid. So that was a major unneeded annoyance. Finally, I get that Covid hurt the zoo financially, but don't continue to charge full price when half your park is closed off and we can't even get close enough or go in to certain places to enjoy what is there.
We always have such a good time, my boys loved the aquarium.
