Old Sturbridge Village was an excellent field trip from Connecticut. Fourth and Fifth graders had so much to see...we extended the day this year so we could get to more exhibits. We went in both fall and spring this year. Beautiful time of year...got to see the new calf and lambs. The docents are truly wonderful. And the gift shop is great! Highly recommend the trip from all over New England.

I loved this village. We learned alot of history and we loved that they had people dressed in period costumes and showing what it was really like to live during that period of time. It is set up very nice too. We loved all of it!

I highly recommend this place if you want to take a trip back in time and learn a few things and enjoy history with the family. Kid friendly and the horse trolly/with narration was perfect . I learned a lot while I was there and will be back for more!

My family has visited for many years now and my youngest child has gone to camp with her cousins twice now and absolutely loved it. It's a great way to learn about the history of the area and to see history in action.

The lights and displays for Christmas by Candlelight are amazing. Several locations offered samples of gingerbread, Spanish sugar cookies, and authentic mulled cider. We heard a local high school singing group. There are also many activities for kids and families. Worth braving the NE weather!

As a history buff, I have been to many living history museums across the US and Europe. This has to be one of the best. It is easy walkable for everyone with activities such as carriage and boat rides.

Always good to go here. Got to see the maple sugaring events this time. All the shops were open and the carriage ride was nice. It is always quieter in winter so I would go if you can and enjoy the peace and one on one time with the craftsman and women in the town.

I went to OSV for a show put on inside the village. We saw Sleepy Hollow. The show was wicked cool!!! It was set up as if you were in the village itself and then attending Katrina VonTassle's party. The production moved from sight to sight within the village. My fav was when were were attending the actual party. They had refreshments you could purchase, free games to play and the actors visited with you...not once breaking character. The actors themselves were very professional, put on a great show. Icabod was great!!! We all ended up for the finale by the covered bridge, where The Headless Horseman made his debut. Really cool! He gallops by you at quite a clip to finish off Icabod. We really enjoyed the show. There were attendants walking around in hooded cloaks with old creepy plague masks on, and the torches and candlelight really sets the scene. I was very impressed to see how concerned the staff were for safety, Making sure we all were behind fencing for the horse entrance. I noticed it was very accessible to wheelchairs, surprisingly as it's outdoor terrain.
The village itself though I enjoy it, appreciate the staff and learning about the past- is way over priced and so was the water! Gouge much??! Music festivals charge less! So my advice is somehow smuggle water in, but buy a tasty libation, enjoy the shows.

I love going here and have been several times. One of things that I like is that the things to do at the village change over the course of the year due to what is produced on the farmland. My recent visit in March had a few displays or activities related to maple sugaring.

Went with a school group. It was an amazing learning experience for my students. Our guide was so knowledgeable and attentive to the level of my students. Well worth the expense. Students loved it.

Went for Christmas By Candlelight- was okay, interesting to see all the different tools and items from the time period, but was not worth $28 per person. Plus refreshments/ snacks were also extra and quite expensive as well.

Christmas by Candlelight at Old Sturbridge Village was absolutely amazing tonight! There was a beautiful light snow falling that was lit by the lanterns and white twinkle lights that lined the walkways. It was such a wonderful experience with our family.

If you've never been to the village, go! Such a wonderful experience; educational and fun. You're taking a trip back in time. If you found it fun during a field trip back in elementary school, you'll enjoy it even more as an adult. Especially if you have children of your own now.

Great place to bring kids. Lots of childhood memories!

The setting feels authentic, and several (possibly many) of the buildings are transplants from the area.

As an adult there are some great exhibits towards the beginning with information about the period. As I child I loved playing near the school house with the stilts and other things.

The Potter has remained my favorite! You can watch as they make souvenirs for the gift shop, and they fire them in a replica kiln a couple of times a year.

Great for whole family. Kids see live animals, adults can interact with history. Of course the live demonstrations (blacksmithing to gardening, wool dying or a working sawmill and more) are superb.

Great to be able to see re-enacters and craftsman at work in period correct facilities and appropriately attired. We saw a musket firing, pottery throwing, log sawing, blacksmithing and farming demonstrations. The area is pleasant to walk. The food is great too.

They do an extremely good job. It's a great day trip. They also have different things going on through out the year like swearing in new citizens to the U.S. on July 4 or Christmas by candlelight in December which are nice to experience as well.

Took the spouse to see the sleepy hollow experience and it unfortunately got rained out. Instead of just no going and wasting the $90 for 2 tickets we headed down to see them perform in the auditorium instead. It was very disappointing and felt like an improv high school play with bad audio and fancy costumes. Wouldn't recommend attending the indoor performance.

Interesting place that takes you to the way of life of that time. Very well recreated with real characters inside the houses that give more realism to the visit. recommendable
