This place is great and it keeps getting better. There is so much to see and do. The people that work there are extremely knowledgeable. Even if you aren't into history you will enjoy it.

It was on my bucket list and having flown thousands of miles I took advantage to visit whilst in the area. The was however marred by very loud and seemingly undisciplined children making as much noise as possible. Disappointed.
I've been here a number of times and each time it's like stepping back in time. It's so relaxing, there is no rushing around and no big crowds. There is a gift small in size inside the park and a much larger one as you leave the park. It's all very nice.
Great 18th century living history programs the weekend!
Though I've been to the village numerous times I went to brunch at the restaurant. Food and service was awesome.
Very excellent living history docents. Food was found wanting.
Great experience ! Very knowledge in the craft of that time
. Christmas by Candlelight was so cool.
We love this place. Great for families of all ages!! It would be pricey if you went there more than once, so check out their membership packages, you'd be surprised!! And guess what, the membership proceed goes DOWN after the first year!! Ever hear of that before in your life??
Fabulous look at life in early 1800s with live demos in almost every part of the village. Comprehensive!
it was supposed to be 5 stars! I'll fix it now! :-)
Nice place to view history and the staff in costume are generally knowledgeable and kind
This was a really cool experience. A very beautiful place. My kids loved the place. I will be returning.
Just simply quaint. Truly beautiful at Christmas by candlelight!
Very educational, all the interpreters were so friendly and good at what they do!
Still a good day trip for kids. Lots to see and learn. Some of the "exhibits" are a bit more engaging than others. Take for example the blacksmith: he made a nail, from scracth, for us; he was super charismatic, energetic, and fun about it. Other places had less than enthusiastic actors just milling around, which is fine, just noting. Food is just decent at best, pack your own or wait to eat til you leave if possible.
My wife booked this place for us and friends. After taking her phone number and email and all that notification info, you would think that they would have let us know that they were going to be closed that day because of the weather. It would have saved us a long drive. We'll go back, but not before the spring.
I like going up this way once a year sister wind down
What a great place to step back in time! People were very friendly and full of information.
We visited around 1 pm , entrance was easy and the staff was friendly. Upon entering the village , I was really expecting more.... Again the staff was friendly but there were so few people in costume that it didn't deliver the experience we expected . The food is a 1 star. They didn't have the items listed on the menu and we ended up paying $53 for premade sandwiches . There was no re-entry so we couldn't grab lunch elsewhere and come back. I won't be going back but the village itself was nice.
Such incredible staff really bring history to life.
We got a family membership last June. We've been several times in different seasons and had a great time. The Winter and Warmth program experiencing the town prepare for a winter ball was fantastic!
we used to go twice a year. sadly I'm too busy to get there that often. still as good as ever! well kept up and always something new happening.
I love this place, especially in autumn. Its like walking through a story book dreamland. We also visited during their cider fest which was amazing. Some of the best cider you'll find in such a beautiful setting.
Christmas lights were great. This is a classic New England attraction which has gotten better with age. I went here when I was a child and several times on school trips. I still find it interesting as an adult. Definitely worth the trip and don't forget to bring the kids.
Great family experience during Christmas. If I could give 1 valuable piece of advice for families who plan on seeing Santa, it would be to come as soon as they open and make sure that's the first thing you do. Otherwise, you'll be in line for hours. Learned that the hard way the 1st time around but had a much, MUCH better experience the following year.
Fun and educational for all ages! Plan to spend a whole day here, there is a lot to do. Playground for the younger kids, too.
Clean and well kept. Great display of how things were in the old days. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Great place to spend a day. All actors in the village are very knowledgeable about their role. It's really interesting to see how things were done in the 1700s. You can easily walk on the entire village for whole day and see something different in every building. I visited this place few time already and I'm not bored yet.
This place only does top notch stuff. Their every day, and their special events are always impressive
During the summer they do free fridays. Amazing to see how they have restored the olden days.
This was so much fun! Lots to see, do and learn. By the end of the day our legs and feet were sore in a good way from doing so much. I enjoyed going here with my daughter because it was a good learning experience about a time of our country as well as fun.
I took my Little cousin. I'm 50, he is 2.5 yrs old. There is a lot to do for any age. Great time we had.
Today after four years looking at holiday pictures still a great experience
We enjoyed our visit to old Sturbridge village and will definitely go back soon!
Fantastic experience, daughter loves it. The giant revolutionary was battle is a must see. Lots to see, even on a rainy day if you're prepared
Fairly accessible with a motor scooter, but not completely. Not all bathrooms accessible, shi when you find one, use it. Otherwise, it's a great place to visit the past!
It was fun learning how things use to be done and being able to ask questions made it an active learning experience. I also did the hands on craft and made my own hook with the help of the blacksmith.
A really enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The presenters were very knowledgeable and the individual buildings really evoked a past life. The kids also had fun, although the gift shop was a little spendy, and had far too many temptations for little kids.
Very educational place for children. I love it! Been here 3 times.
Oliver Wright tavern was a beautiful venue for wedding reception, village made for unique wedding pics too!
One of my favorite New England places to visit. Time travel without the heavy machinery!
Been a member for nearly 30 years..if you like history or want to glimpse 1800s life style than Th his is the place.. lots to do, see and experience.
Lots of animals that you can get up close to good Learning Place
First time visiting since I was in grammar school. Took my anthropology hubby and my highly-inquisitive teenaged daughter. We had lots of questions and the hosts were happy to share. Beautifully kept grounds and buildings. Love that it's a working village. The place will change from season to season, so it is always interesting.
The stations with games to play was especially fun for us. If going on a hot day, make sure to have plenty of water with you, as most buildings don't have ac or fans.
The cafe was nice. The food was good but pricey.
We spent about 4.5 hours there and saw most of the place. Missed out on the wooded walk, unfortunately.
This was an interesting place to visit! We went on a school trip and I was with Kindergarteners so they didn't appreciate it as much. I wish there were more people dressed up and around the place though. There were barely any and many buildings were empty. They loved the walk in the woods though!
Step back in time 1800s, walk around a small new England town, see how things were done back then, farm house, school, church, sawmill etc, enjoy your day here, pack a lunch. Something here for the whole family. Enjoy
What a great place to bring the family. Great actors and they have a ton of information to share when you interact with them. I used to go here when I was a kid and now I bring my kids!
Christmas by candlelight was fantastic as was the meal at Bullard tavern
Lots to see, do and learn. Accessible to all ages. Plan for at least half a day
Christmas by Candlelight is lively. We highly recommend it.
Great place for a school field trip or a look back at history in the 1930
We were gifted a membership and went with our 1-yo son riding in a wagon. There was plenty to do and see, so we'll have to go back soon. Most of the buildings are accessible, but some don't have ramps or are tight inside. The map clearly indicates which are which, though, which helps. Food selection and price was ok, but we'll probably brown-bag our lunch next time.
I was lost for about 3 hours on the river walk, think I was being followed
Pretty good place that brought you back in time. Workers were nice and some even played in character. There are few places with air conditioning. And it was a hot day. Other than that and the gift shop being overpriced it was a nice place.
Loved the in depth view into the history of New England very interesting lots of walking.
Amazingly educational & fun for the whole family. We could've spent a week here. Definitely going back
This was so fun to walk through. Hands on games for kids in different sections. Lots of walking. I wish I had realized we could have taken our food in with us.
Staff "Interpreters" were amazing. Not only knowing their individual crafts... but the history of the region and every structure on site
I remember coming here as a kid and being amazed by the novelty of it all. Last fall I finally got to bring my own little girl.
We picked apples with the farmers. We went in a horse-drawn carriage. We saw the sites and learned about how they made cider back in the old days.
I'll be returning when my daughter is a little bit older. There's more I want to see, and I think she'll get more out of it the older she gets.
One suggestion: In the visitor entrance, change the name of your wifi network to "Ye Olde WiFi" I mean, how can you not?
The people who work there were very stuffy and rude to us as well as a group of students with developmental disabilities. They didn t want to talk to them nor answer any of their questions
This museum was amazing. I attended a holiday tree lighting, complete with a choir and many children. The village was busy, They had two horse drawn carriages and a glowing fire to warm you.
The exhibits were Christmas in early 1800s. Music was played in several places. The interpretators were informed, engaging, and happy at their work. I would reccomend visiting here.
We get a membership here. It s well worth it. My kids have grown up going there and every year it s a different experience for them because they see it differently and have new interests.
This place is history come alive through the old buildings to the people dressed up and dyeing wool or plowing the field. I live in Sturbridge so it s free for me. It s kinda expensive for those out of town but you should go at least once, especially during the war reenactment.
Went for the sleepy hollow show. Great actors lots of fun a very good time
This place acts as an amazing way to people to understand an learn about the culture an innovations that have occured in Sturbridge that have contributed to todays circumstances, when it comes to innovation and culture. It gives people a perspective about society before certain technology and other recent assets that we have acquainted ourselves with in the 21srt century, compared to the conditions and technology in the 19th century. This village no only shows history through its physical aspects of the buildings, but also the people. They are very kind and welcoming, and they helped explain to us the advancements in society that they would've been asserted with a couple hundred years ago. Almost everyone their are in character of townspeople from the 19th century. Also, they explain to us ho rights and laws are different. For a class trip, we went here and asked the people about how they dealt with the impoverished people, and they even set up a town meeting an went beyond the expectations. You may think you know how everything was in the old times, but you'd be surprised to see how advanced they actually are in terms of society. Overall, The Sturbridge Village really shows the line I connection between todays society and society back then.
We love this historical village it is as if you took a step into the past
We walked thru the story of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. It was entertaining, lots of fun, and a wonderful evening.
I went yesterday for the first time in 20 years. I was very impressed by the educators / townspeople who crafted and told stories of the 1830. We have so lucky to have this in New England.
Actors were friendly to everyone, gift shops were reasonable and I learned a lot! Well kept village
