We saw the current play Guys & Dolls. The performers did an excellent job and it was a nice diversion for a Sunday afternoon in winter in Minnesota for an inexpensive per ticket price. They also have a very nice restaurant on site as well.
Newly remodeled and much brighter than the old interior. Great shows, food, and drinks.
Fabulous Valentine's Day weekend. Loved it! Great theatre, great food.
We have enjoyed going to the Old Log Theatre for many years. However our last visit was beyond disappointing. The play was delightful as always but our experience after the play was anything but delightful. We attended on a Thursday night which was ladies night. Everyone in our party was given a coupon for a free glass of wine. It did not say on the ticket that it needed to be used during the play nor were we told when we purchased our tickets. It was not mentioned during the intermission nor was it posted on their web site. There were six of us and we intentionally decided to wait til after the play to enjoy our glass of wine. After the play we went to the dining room where there were several people having food and cocktails. We were shocked when the owner herself told us our drink coupons would not be honored. We explained that we were not made aware that the drink coupon had to be used during the play. She said there was nothing she could do about it. The irony is only two of us would have used the drink coupon. The others would have ordered a cocktail and we would have ordered dessert. In addition to being treated so rudely it was also a poor business decision. Sadly, none of our group will be returning to the Old Log Tgeatre soon.
I will be back. This place was outstanding. The eat with the crew was phenomenal.
Food wasn't great but okay. Play was okay but couldn't understand what the female singers were saying.
Show was wonderful and our daycare group had an amazing time! Thank you!
A wonderful place to take kids to see live theater. Up close and personal, they get to meet the cast after the performance...we have seen several shows here when we visit from Denver, CO.
Charming atmosphere. Very talented cast for the play we watched.
With the newly remodeled lobby and restaurant area, this has become one of the best theatre experiences around. A nice historic setting, friendly staff and great performers make this a must-see place to go.
Great compound and staff. Parking is horrible, so I suggest to be there ahead of time if it's a decent show.
The show and service were great. The food was disappointing.
Great music and had a tall person in front of me but I was able to move and could see stage perfect
Whole family enjoyed Guys and Dolls performance. Great place to support local theatre community.
We are longtime Old Log fans and were concerned with the sale, but trusted Don Stoltz knew what he was doing selling to the current owners. Last night we attended a company Christmas party at the Old Log Theater. We started with dinner in the newly remodeled Cast & Cru restaurant. The decor and ambiance is lovely, the service good, and the food was excellent. The show was a joyful expression of fun musical memories with an extremely talented cast. I heard one patron say he doesn't like going to plays but he really liked the show and was enjoying himself.I doubt anyone was NOT smiling at the finale. It was just so much fun! I think the new owners have done Done Stoltz proud! I give it a 12 out of 10!
I went to the Million Dollar Quartet show, which was really good. Establishment itself was also very nice. The place seems to have an older crowd, which makes it good for family events or going out if the shoe fits.
Great food especially dessert, remodel was fabulous, always wonderful show
Plays are entertaining, staff is friendly and great atmosphere!!
Very good place to be. Good food selection and quality and good service. Highly recommended!
This place is hard to find. No signage to indicate they are their it's hiding behind overgrown shrubs and bushes and trees if they trimmed em up and had signage out their to identify you have arrived and this is the place your looking for No Numbers of the address visible from the street which is required by city ordinance . So shame on the city for not doing their job but if a company is in business and wants to get business people need to find it with ease period. This place is in bad need of a remodel all of the building are in distress and appear to be in bad condition and this is from the outside. From the inside the place is in bad need of and up date and remodel. The Play and the energy from the actors was awesome they did a good job. And all of the employees were friendly. The food was poor and over priced. My food was cold and they would not do anything to correct it. I will not be going back to this place and that's too bad because it's kinda interesting. But filthily dirty not clean at all trash outside and they need a new parking lot and bigger parking lot. I can say more but I'll stop here The End.
We have seen lots of plays, but Almost Maine was a huge disappointment to us. It was to be a comedy, I actually fell asleep during the first half of the play, which is something I never do, don't even take a nap in the day time. If it was a comedy, I didn't find any thing funny. It will take a while before I will go to the Old Log again, without someone who sees the play first and recommends it.
Great shows with great performers, been several times and always had a great time.
Went to go see The Three Little Pigs very good actors and actresses very fun musical other staff very friendly
My food was delicious! The play was great!!!! the atmosphere!
Great place, beautiful restaurant and surroundings. Great staff, very kind and helpful!!!
Gentleman's Guide was superb! Monty showed us his mother's picture! Great company and production and orchestra! Fun time and the venison at Cast & Cru was tasty! Carrot cake divine!
These guys do a good job. I've only seen musicals there but they always seem to vast strong singers and great acting. Their theatre is slowly being renovated. The lobby and restaurant is awesome. Now just need to replace the run down seats in the actual theatre. Kind of a musty smell....maybe a few dehumidifiers running between performances. :)
I love this place. The wine pairing dinners are amazing. The chef is not cliche. Well thought out and prepared plates. You are served and fed well above even high expectations. Price point is definitely worth the experience. Put on your must do list. Date night Wednesday is a great place to bring someone special.
It's live theater. The facility has been updated and they have well staged productions. The staff is professional and hepful.
Had low expectations going here, with a gift certificate. But I was pleasantly surprised with a great performance! Bravo! Lot of grey, white and no hairs here, so you may feel out of place. Still had a great time, though.
I had a great experience for a Sunday matinee showing of the Million Dollar Quartet. Beautiful space and great show
Fun plays. Good entertainment. Don't care much for restaurant. Would prefer simpler food at a better price
Recently saw Ghost and was very pleased. The cast was great and the theater itself was beautiful. The set was designed really well and it was very entertaining!
It had a lot of ambience in the restaurant and bar. 5 Presidents show was fantastic! Really creditable actors!! Especially the one that played President Regan.
Saw a great play. And they have a renovated restaurant, which of cause is perfectly timed to see the show.
This visit was actually to the restaurant- Cast & Crew, which was amazing. Excellent food and the owner really knows wine. So that's a plus if you are a wine lover.
Had a wonderful time, the show was fantastic! Saw : A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder
Great food, nice lobby, theatre, and staff. Will go back.
Great food, beautifully presented and very tasty, from the duck poppers to the walleye. Amazing food and excellent service from Twyla! Thank you for a great experience
"The Gentleman's to Love and Murder" is superb, as their shows always are.
Great local theater - the shows are always excellent and fun. The restaurant is very good with an interesting menu and good service. Easy and plentiful planning.
Been to a couple of musicals there, small theatre with up and coming stars.
The staff at Old Log is really what makes this place so special. I was greeted by the friendly workers when I walked in and immediately felt the sense of community that has been put into this place with the new owners. The food is 5 stars and some of the talent they have here is incredible. I would highly recommend dinner and a show to just about anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of doing so yet.
Adorable play on The Three Little Pigs. It showed the other side of the story.
Cast and Cru were out of some items Very forgetable dining. The show was very good acoustics in the back were leave a little to be desired.
Always a great experience. I take a senior group every year and we always enjoy ourselves!
A hidden gem, a diamond in the rough. Lots of fun and clean smart decor. Great service and excellent location for the kids.
Highly professional productions. I have never seen a play there that I have not liked
Haven't seen the show yet because after a one hour wait our fixed course dinner finally arrived (to be fair you are given a choice of five meals all very over priced. Come on a pasta dish (no meat just noodles) for $28? All other meals from 33 to 35. Ordered the short ribs with so-called roasted squash. Beef was nice over top the powdered potatoes and cold canned vegetables. Gross. Other complaints at our table of 8 was dry and tasteless chicken over what was supposed to be risotto. Most dishes were tasteless and not even close to warm. Sorry will not return. Back to Chanhassen theatres next time. Services is very non attentive.
Really neat facility to watch a show. Lovely restaurant and bar attached.
Great venue. Took the kids to see snow white and the 7 Vikings. Show was great. Packed house but great view from almost any seat. Kids had a great time. Will definitely do again
Amazing performance of "Life Could be a Dream". Fell in love with the cast immediately-impeccable performances by all!
Great theater nestled in among a residential area. It was my 2nd time here (after many years) and we enjoyed our time there! Loved the addition of the restaurant/bar - bartender makes fabulous drinks!
Such a cute theatre! Went with my girlfriend and her family to watch a play. Not only were the actors and actresses spectacular, the ambiance was great too. One thing though, the seats don t have a very good incline so if you re short like me and someone slightly taller is in front of you, might have some trouble seeing
We were very disappointed in our most recent trip to OLT. We have made it a family tradition for years to see a show the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We always enjoyed the carolers, decorations and the festive atmosphere. In the past they had very cute gift boxes for purchase that went along with the show. This year the decorations were just going up, there were no carolers and no gift bags for the children, they fireplace was not even lit. We were also surprised at the production of A frog and Toad. The set seemed to be very cheap. There were no set changes and the set that was there was very inadequate and not up to past OLT standards. The talent was Ok but everything else was disappointing. It seems like the new owners are looking to make a bigger profit. Which I guess is their right to do. However, we will not be visiting the OLT again and they have lost their family feel.
Great smaller theatre with a home town feel. Seats a couple hundred but feels comfortable. Amazing restaurant with FABULOUS food. Every show I've seen has had great performers and felt professional, even for the smaller cast and crew.
My family and I have been going to the children's Christmas shows at the Old Log Theatre for the past 40+ years. We started going as a family when our children were small and now attend the theatre with our grandchildren. This year's performance of Charlie Brown's Christmas was the worst children's Christmas show we have ever attended. Our grandchildren are from Orange County, California and has recently visited Knott's Berry Farm where Charlie Brown and the other characters were dressed in costume, & that was what they expected to see at the Old Log Theatre, not a group of adult actors with only Snoopy dressed in costume. There was not one character from this year's show that was could be remembered by a child. In last year's performance of Todd & Frog, Snail was the most remembered character & our grandchildren still talk about him. My son, who attended this year's performance, remembered Rumpelstiltskin from a performance we must have seen many years ago. If the Old Log Theatre doesn't return to child-friendly productions, we will not be back.
