Paid for a king bed and got a room with 2 full beds, which were hard as a rock! I woke up with my back hurting. And of course we didn't get reimbursed for the king bed. The lobby is really nice but the room was mediocre at best. The door to our balcony was bolted shut. Also find out after we pay for the room that the hotel is haunted so of course I was creeped out the entire night. I will not be staying at that hotel again.

Was guaranteed for 4 pm check-in. Was not able to check in till 4:30. Young lady at front desk was nice , nice location and good rooms for the price , big beach area in front of hotel , nice outdoor pool. Seemed like hotel staff a little standoffish. If i guaranteed a 4 pm checkin to guest at was not able to grant that , i would and should make a small gesture for a complimentary something to party.

Although still under renovations due to hurricane damage, still a decent hotel on the beach. Friendly front desk staff, bartender and maintenance staff. Also has a relaxing pool area with bar/grill with views of the ocean. Within walking distance to shops and restaurants.

I was totally unhappy with this hotel. The hotel did nothing to try to kids from parting and yelling even after I complained numerous times...I use to be a flight attendant so believe me I have traveled allot!!! The balcony is made out of cement and is very high so unless you are standing you get no view of the beach. When standing you get a nice view of the roof and palm tree tops....I also felt like the rooms were old.. I would NEVER stay in this hotel even if it were free!

The elevator takes ten years to come down and the keys never worked went all the way up the room with bags and kids took twenty min to get there then tried calling the front desk and had to call four times to get someone to answer ... this hotel must be 100 years old. I m just disappointed...

if I could give less than one star I definitely would. I have traveled to a lot of resorts and this by far was the worst one I have ever encountered. A couple of the front desk staff were very rude and hateful. (There were some very nice employees too) But Beware, you cannot use their amenities without paying extra but they won't tell you until you use them. Everything there is extra! We were very kind, and respectful to everyone and there was no good cause to be treated so poorly. I am still in shock of their treatment of us.

Location is within walking distance for local attractions. Do not be fooled by the fancy exterior or high prices. This place is not any better than the other reasonably priced Daytona Beach hotels.

If you re looking for a hotel that is the definition of an oxymoron I present you the Plaza resort and spa. From its single operating elevator, to its peeling paint this resort is the picture of lack in quality. The floors are an aromatic plethora ranging from wet pain, to raw sewage. The Plaza prides itself with the motto excuse our dust being under renovation for the past several years. It s a wonder they can still charge as much for the compete disregard in quality or care about their customers. When you re thinking about a place to help you feel at ease on the central east coast I d advise to avoid this resort for it is a 5 star price with a -1 star execution.

The hotel is under remodelation and it is having problems with the elevators. There are scaffolds in front of some balconies due to the renovations and stuff...but...the room was clean, the bed was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and the hotel is good location, you can walk in to the shops and the Ocean Center and the Hard rock cafe. The hotel has a pool in front of the beach and direct access to the beach.

We booked our room a few months in advance thru an online booking site. When we booked we paid in full. At the same time we were made aware of an additional $88 resort fee, that turned out to be $99 after taxes.. No problem as I am a Daytona native and understand fully about these charges.but now ive paid taxes twice for one stay. Shady .. Upon check in I was told i would also have to leave a $100 deposit on my card.. That was not stated in any way upon booking. Shady.
The motel is old but maintained. Its not filthy by any means.. And the small spots that were in need of repair were mostly water damaged spots. It's a beachside motel.. Expect different?
We didnt use room service or the restaurant. Tad expensive..but beachside typical.
The elevators were slow.. But again.. Its the middle of summer and tons of people. Its expected. Adds to the fun.. Makes you talk to the others waiting with you.
Our room.. We had the king suit street side for 4 nights. The balcony door did not open..
It was clean and smelled fine. Some leftover trash from the guests before on the floor behind the nightstand.
So because we checked in late, we decided the room did not need to be cleaned the next day so we put the DND sign on the door. When we returned there was a bag full of clean towels, and sheets.. As well as toiletries. Very nice. The next day however we did NOT put the DND sign up and when we returned at 345 that day our room had not been touched. Not sure why? So our final and full day there we left early, making sure the DND sign was NOT on the door. When we returned a little after 5.. I noticed someone had been in our room. The bed had been made. But.. The towles were left in a pile on the sink. The toilet paper was left on the FLOOR with the holder in the sink? And as odd as this sounds, six of the mini shampoo and conditioner bottles were taken from the top of the dresser next to my bag. Two had come from previous motels.. I have OCD. I knew exactly how I left that room. The floors were never vaccumed. And my husband had to take out the garbage.
Now as far as being a resort.. They fall short there.. No planned activities.. And generally a regular motel feel. Sad. Used to be a beautiful fun place. Next time I visit FL, im sure I wont be staying here again. Not for the money I paid.

It was clean and the lobby was grand but the room was somewhat outdated. The beds were a little hard. Also our door was not shut when we got up to room right after we checked in. I've stayed at many hotels on Daytona Beach and I must say it's not worth the price.. you have a resort fee, parking fee (even if you park yourself).. not terrible hotel just expected a little more..

My sister and I booked a 2 queen bedroom. 11th floor. Although the hotel was busy with all kinds of groups. It starts with the excellent valley service who indeed were very professional. They were busy and polite.
We checked in room was 1123 great view of the ocean and front street.
We were there for my nieces cheerleaders conference. I've stayed at 5 stars before
This was a 3 star. Even though the hotel experienced hurricane Irma recently a few weeks ago. The staff was professional and polite. We only stayed one night for the event. Will stay again. It's only 10 minute walk to the huge civic center.its right in the heart of most of the action.

The hotel is beautiful as shown in pictures. My only complaint is that there are only 3 elevators for an 11+ floor hotel. The majority of our time was waiting for 10 minutes at a tine or taking the stairs. The elevators are also very small...6-8 people squished in. The Plaza has the best valet ever!!! From check in to check out, our vehicle was available on a quick moment! Compared to the other resorts, the pool could also use an updating. Just a square with water...
Overall it was a good stay.

Clean, comfortable, but with issues. We didn't get the room we had booked months ahead, with 2 beds and a pull out couch. We had 1 kinq size bed, and they brought us 2 small, folding beds. We had no room to walk.
The price for the food, for what you get, is way too expensive.

It looked great from the beginning, and then...

...everything went b.s!

We got back from dinner and a.c wasn't working, so we went to front desk to figure it out and they sent us to a room that was a mess and not clean.

Then sent us to another room that also was without a.c and then tried to say let us give you a $10 bar credit to which the bar was closed at 10pm.

Good luck, I would advise this hotel to someone who makes about 5 to 10k per YEAR ! IF U WANT FANCY THIS IS NOT FOR YOU!

READ! READ! READ! I'm not one to leave reviews unless my experience is absolutely horrible, or absolutely wonderful. This place was TERRIBLE!!! The only good part about this place was the very hard working Valet Staff. The hotel was dirty, they don't have enough elevators, I literally would wait 5-15 minutes for an elevator (yes I waited 15 minutes for an elevator). Huge place with a pool that only had 12 umbrellas total for the guests. We requested a baby crib before we got there, we were told no problem. We requested again at the check in, again, we were told no problem. At 9pm we called again and were told they only had 5 and all 5 were out. REALLY!??? A place this big only had 1 or 2 bartenders working the bar/grille at the pool, so plan on standing in line for 15 minutes for this also.

Absolute nightmare. Extremely old constructions with elevators that only hold 6 people for 12 floors of rooms. One of 3 was broken resulting in 15-25 minute wait times to get one to stop for you that isn't already full. Management decided to apologize to only "select rooms" for the trouble with extra late checkout and every one else got nothing for their frustrations. Not even a note apologizing. Elevators break, i get that, but that was just disgraceful customer service. Should have knocked a night off everyone's stay and this would have been a 4 star review. Small bathrooms with shower heads too low for anyone over 5'10". Mildew air hallways with too many scent machines to count attempting to hide that fact. Really time for the place to be gutted and remodeled.

Definite issues with cleanliness and roaches! Also, there were flushing issues with toilets, seemed plumbing was fragile, sometimes holding handle for an extended time helped it flush.

We had a rough check in, but after switching rooms our stay was amazing. Staff went above a beyond to make our stay wonderful. The rooms could use a little updating and the elevators were some what slow but that is to be expected when they are fully booked. However we will be returning, The Plaza was a very great place to stay.

Really awful steak on Saturday night. Service was so-so, considering I'd given that same server a 24% tip the day before. Whoever the cook is they should know we can hear their profanity in the dinning area

Overall, it was a pretty great room for the price. The rooms are a bit outdated, but they're clean. Bathroom is tiny in the room we stayed in, but we felt the view and proximity to the beach made it worth it. The pool area could use a facelift. The hotel offers complimentary valet parking and a $12 credit to be used on purchases. They also have waterproof bracelets instead of key cards, which is a great idea. They also offer a breakfast buffet on weekends for around $13. It seemed new because some of the staff didn't know about it and the servers didn't know how to sit people for it. The buffet food was cold and not much to write home about. Not a rip off for the price, just not that great. The coffee was good and a carafe was given automatically. They also have a make your own waffle station. All in all the experience was pretty good. If they buffet was improved a little bit and if the guests were told about it, it would be a big hit.

Wow, if you are planning a trip to Daytona Beach, ...

Wow, if you are planning a trip to Daytona Beach, this is where to stay. If you are planning a getaway with you and your significant other, ask for room 1405!!! It is a King suite, kitchenette, corner unit with views of the ocean, inter-coastal waterway, the pool, live music on the deck (when scheduled) and the famous Daytona strip just in view. I was scheduled for a conference but decided to go down early and I am glad that I did. Grab your beer from Publix or ABC Liquor just up the street and put it in your full size fridge to be ready for the evening s cool breeze on the two balconies. There were only a few pet peeves I had with the room but nothing too troublesome but worth mentioning. In my room there was no shelf in the large walk in shower so I put a washcloth down in the back corner of the shower floor to place all my soaps and shampoos on. This shower is big enough for two.......so you re welcome. :) Also, the hotel room entrance doors stick (oceanfront living due to moisture no matter where you are) so you can hear your neighbor coming and going if they aren t considerate of others and the A/C isn t running.
I cannot say enough about the staff here. Truly a remarkable bunch of HARD workers who are always nice and willing to offer help. You will be charged up front for incidentals so be ready to submit around $100 over your base price quoted if you are staying for a week like I did. Miss Cora at the front desk is a rockstar who handles difficult customers with ease and love. I called and made my reservation over the phone and Robert C. is the one responsible for making sure that I was surprised with one of the BEST rooms in this hotel. Whether you are planning a vacation or event, this is where I would start first. Keep in mind that they are still doing minor renovations (yeah, we live in FL and were hit twice back to back), and this is a historic hotel that has seen millions of visitors over the years, but there is nothing that should alter your stay in the negative. Just make sure you are careful which side of the building you are placed since I was told the South side of the building is limited to balcony time (requested not to open their sliders until after 5pm) which is more than likely due to construction projects on the lot next door.

Resort? Hardly! This place desperately needs help!...

Resort? Hardly! This place desperately needs help! We stayed in an ocean view room for three nights this past weekend for a conference my husband had to attend for work and it was issue after issue, which is unfortunate because I do have to say that any staff we encountered was always very friendly and helpful (unlike the management, read to end).

Upon arriving to the room, the floor clearly had not been vacuumed, the bed sheets had numerous hairs in them, and the drinking glasses needed a good scrub. The bathroom is the size of a child's closet but beyond that the tub would not drain and filled up with nasty, sandy water quickly during every shower and the shower curtain was moldy and full of hair. There was a very large cockroach (and another large dead one) running around at the elevators and the pool chemicals needed serious attention. A do not disturb sign on the door did not keep staff from still entering my room to empty garbage, collect dirty towels and change out toilet paper. I know that's not a bad thing, but I put the sign up after a friend had a cooler stolen from her room, but they still came in my room anyways. The fried chicken at one night's dinner buffet was freezing cold in the center (which was a replacement for the roast beef they quickly ran out of) and the same restaurant was out of 3 of the 5 meals we tried to order from their menu another night. And forget trying to get a late check out. That's unheard of because they're so "desperate" to get in here and "clean" these rooms. The only reason I requested this was because my husband had to be in his class until early afternoon and I didn't want to have to load my van alone while trying to keep up with 3 young children all by myself in a busy parking garage. Management didn't care, just worried about charging me more money for a 1pm checkout. No way!

More than likely I would've let all of this go and not even bothered writing a review, but the last straw was on the third night when our kids joined us, we went to pull out the mattress on the couch and the matress had black mold all over it!! Unacceptable! Picture below. Worse is that the managers I've tried to speak with do not care to listen. I was quickly dismissed and snapped at by two male managers, and waited on hold for over 15 minutes for an Assistant General Manager before finally giving up. Funny because there's a sign in the room stating "if you think there was any aspect of your stay that was not a 9 or 10, especially the level of service we provide, please let us know about it right away so we can make it right for you." What a joke. I will never be returning. There are plenty of other options on Daytona Beach.

We will also be notifying the events coordinator for the conference my husband attended so they're aware of the issues (and we weren't the only ones with multiple problems) before choosing a hotel to book for this annual event.

The hotel was disgusting! Do not stay here at all!!! We checked in on our way home from vacation in Clearwater, the lobby looked like it was going to be a very nice and clean hotel, paid for our room and walked in there was trash in the floor in front of our room and beer bottles in stairway the floor had not been vacuumed. Room was out of date and calling tiles on 3rd floor were falling down in the hallway and debris from that was all over the floor. We went to the front desk to ask for a new room since ours was still not cleaned. They moved us to the 6th floor which when we walked in we thought it was going to be much better. Checked the floor and it had not been vacuumed in there either there were chips scattered all over and dirty glasses in hallway leading to our room. We checked the mattress to make sure it was clean and had no bed bugs since we had such issues in the last. The mattress was covered in bed bug matter, and blood marks on sheets. The door also looked like someone had tried to break into room before. Staff was very nice amd helpful with getting us a refund started. But some
of the staff members were very odd and frankly creepy. Very deceiving from the outside looks and online pictures. Such a shame because it is in an awesome location for a hotel. Spoke to another couple who was waiting for their car to leave and they had the same issues and had been moved to two different rooms as well! DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL!!!!

DON'T DO IT, YOU'LL BE SORRY............
Overall deposition of the room was just nasty, old and in need of maintenance and repair; the rooms stunk as well. A/C was not functioning properly in the room, never could get the thermostat above 69 we froze our entire stay there. Shower head not fully functioning, shower was just a slow stream of water like the pipes were clogged. I went back to our room in the afternoon one day, and the door to our room was open with no one in sight. Room was not cleaned one day, had to call room service for fresh towels and toiletries. Overall hotel and service was slow: elevators not working and the ones that were working were extra slow for some reason. We stayed on the eight floor and one night someone vomited in the hallway on some white towels and left the nasty towels in front of our room door. I called the front desk that night to let someone know they needed to come and clean the mess, but nothing happened. The vomit and towels were still in hallway at 8:00 the next morning.

Unfortunately it started off bad. The front desk staff was rude. There was a problem with 1 of my rooms I booked 3 and no accommodations were made. I was told I should be happy I that have rooms. And their housekeeping is the worst I have ever experienced at a hotel or resort . They did not sweep nor mop floors or kitchen area. They did not check bathroom to restock nor did they clean it. I guess they ran out of box tissue and wash cloths. The outside of the hotel by the beach needs a face lift. There is Alot missing at this resort.

I m mixed about this place. Fernando-The big manager is great to deal with. He makes things right and makes you feel very comfortable when you aren t big on complaining but feel it is needed. Also love the housekeeping department and their manager. All of them are very sweet and eager to help. I absolutely love Charlene at the front desk as well. She is a breath of fresh air when your stay hasn t been due to the weather and an ER stay for my 3 year old during our stay. The reason for the 3 stars was directly due to the front desk supervisor during the day named Tasha. I m assuming her name is Natasha but she goes by Tasha. After our stint at the emergency room during our stay we were exhausted. We got back to our room after being at the ER from 12am until 10am with no sleep in between, to find a phone call from Mrs. Tasha stating she was the manager and I needed to come down to fix a mistake on my bill right away. When asking Mrs. Tasha if we could get some sleep and come down in a few hours to fix it and explained to her in tears as to our reason for being exhausted and that we weren t leaving for a couple of days anyways, she stayed we were to come down immediately and did I understand that. I felt she had a job to do however from one human to another she could understand I had been up all night with a 3 yr old in an unknown Emergency Room and just wanted a few hours of sleep. I then ignored her request and went later and fixed it. I heard her through my stay talking to other hotel guests the same way. Other than her and her rudeness everything else about the place was great. The hotel is perfectly located as well. Walking distance for my 3 yr old to the boardwalk, pier, etc.
