I stayed at the villages, it sucked. it was filthy, there was trash everywhere, bet cans, schnapps bottles, cigarettes lots of cigarettes. big sticky stain of something that soiled the rig and was never cleaned up, gum stuck to the ac unit, the screen door kept popping off. sheet rock discuss all over the window sill obviously not ready for guests. I alerted them they offered me free buffet breakfast for my son and I. I thought it and said for dinner for myself, he was at camp, they offered the pub, I asked for the terrace which they agreed to. skip the Chatham muscles and chorizo, clam chowder was good, halibut was really good. indoor pool was nice there is a hot tub as well. locker room is small the sauna said it was supposed to be in the mood 100s the temp inside said 235. too hot for me. they hire young foreign exchange type workers. Chloe from Ireland at the desk, Ally from Russia and Rasheda from Jamaica at the pool, Nicholas from Arizona waiter at the terrace all were absolutely wonderful. simply delightful people. I would NEVER stay at the villages which is just down the street again but I would consider the main Mansion grounds. Mansion and it's grounds are beautiful. with the exception of Nicholas I found the Americans to be less inviting personally, they were polite don't get me wrong, but somehow cold compared. there is an Irish guy ,Tom I think ,who coordinated the foreign workers around the grounds he is very pleasant as well.
the one thing I did notice was some of the foreign workers seemed a bit nervous when the higher ups came around, jumpy maybe it's a cultural thing who knows . if you go engage the foreign folks, from the ones I mentioned above to the random grounds keepers simply delightful people to chat with
DON'T stay at the villages
