Love this zoo !!!! Our family has had our membership for several years. We love everything about it. It's a great go to family activity for us. The zoo is well kept and the staff is very friendly and attentive. We'll be members as long as we live close enough. Highly recommend for one time visitors and memberships alike.

Visited a zoo after almost 40 years. Great to see couple of animals for the first time.

Nice upgrade, it's bigger than it was when I went as a kid. It's worth the trip.

Excellent zoo. Reasonable price for admission and food. All around very clean. Even though I feel bad for most animals in zoo's the animals here had very spacious areas to roam, all enclosures were clean and filled with toys, ropes, etc. for activity and what I consider most important - private spaces. Nice Job.

It was amazing for a small place for will worth your trip

Good zoo to spend time with kids and families. Well maintained neat and clean surroundings. Not a big too but animals here are very active. Restuarant here is expensive. I enjoyed the gondola drive. But not expect too much worth for the price.

Great fun for my daughter and I! Hilly but not too difficult to walk.

Entrance fee is high. Most of the animals were not there. Do not go on winter season. Rides are great for kids. The rides needs separate tickets.. i wouldn't recommend it.

Amazing zoo. It rivals the DC zoo for sure. Wonderful and friendly staff. Plenty to entertain people of all ages!

A lot of the animals weren't there, I feel like I spent a lot of time looking at empty habitats. I wish I hadn't gone... total waste of money. I don't recommend coming here and unfortunately wouldn't come back. Little bottles of water were overpriced too.

This zoo was very clean and all the workers were very polite. I enjoyed the gondola ride where you get a better view of the city and you get to see a bit more animals that you don't see it on the ground. Overall great experience

Love the ease to see the zoo in an afternoon. Love the gondola ride to the top. Vyhe views are amazing. Grizzlies that are so close to you...mountain lions, condors, eagles and a family of wolves as well...and more!

I really enjoyed my time here today! I definitely recommend a visit.

Great day! New habitat and gondola..... very nice to see the Zoo looking so lively!

Fabulous. So many animals were active. Although parking lot seemed very full, park did not seem crowded.

AMAZING!!!!! Sooo incredible!!! The condors were breath taking, yes California Condors, rescued and on exhibit... the wolves were so cool and the amount of space the Oakland zoo gives them makes you really feel they have the animals well being as their first priority!!!! And I haven't even mentioned the Grizzlies... or the mountain lions... and the gondola up, some times we just ride that up and down and up.... congrats to the zoo a GREAT JOB!!!!

Nice but no WIFI and no information as to taxis or Transportation out of there.

Awesome zoo and they have a nice gondola that takes you to more animals. The gondola goes over areas with more nature/animals.

Had an amazing day. Staff was very helpful and friendly also park was nice and clean. Definitely will be back in mid-week again.

The new area adds so much. This is one of the best zoo's and just got better. Unlike San Diego the enclosures look more natural.

Lots of fun. Just be prepared to walk. It is in the hills and you have to walk up and down some. Well worth it. In general I am not a zoo fan and it was nice. My kids love it.

Gorgeous habitats, lots of animal varieties, lots of activities for kids & a beautiful view from the gondola.

Our favorite part was the gondola ride! A good price for a great zoo!

Some great exhibits...take the tram. Super hilly so wear good shoes.

It is a nice place and it is better than San Francisco

Great zoo! It complements the SF Zoo nicely given some different animals. Oakland notably has elephants, baboons gibbons, buffalo camels, alligators and a jaguar. The skylift ride, gondola and kids ride park are nice additional attractions for kids and the whole family. Highly recommend the family membership packages which are great deals - the family membership we got cost a lot less than two visits.

Amazing new expansion must go support the local community's zoo

The kids and adults all enjoyed the zoolights and the Gondola and other rides. A lil disappointed with Landing Cafe for very limited selection and unappetizing food. Overall, the visit was enjoyable that I'd recommend for families with kids.

My family loves going here every year for their light show, its definitely a must see on my list every year.

We had such a good time at the Oakland zoo. We had a group of people that ranged from 2 to 94. We all loved it. The animals seemed so happy and playfully. You get a lot of exercise. So be prepared, but so beautiful. We all can't wait to go back.

Lots of fun animals, and very child friendly. Lines everywhere. The docents were extremely nice and helpful.

Attended the special event, zoo lights. The train ride was fun. The reptile room was neat to see (and cozy place to warm up a bit). Faux snow was a nice unexpected touch.

Laid back staff and great attractions for everyone!

Keeping a stroller for younger kids helps. I liked the elephant sanctuary. All the information that you get during feeding time of the elephants is interesting and keeps you engaged.

The zoo has a lot to offer and doesn't take too long to walk around since it has the distinct areas. We started off with the Sky Ride (an extra $3 per person) and got to see over the giraffes, lions and elephants. From there we went to see the baboons, siamang and monkeys and birds. They have a really nice collection of insects, but there were only a few reptiles in the other area. The black bears, grizzly bears and meerkat were all resting so they weren't out when we hit the exhibits.

Overall it was a fun visit on the 1st or January. My favorite things were the sun bears, the lazy petting goats and the emu that tried to escape on the train with us.

My kids had so much fun. Its very clean. Lines were short.

Nice zoo. Most the enclosures are spacious. The animals were active. Lots of docents were available to answer questions. We saw several zoo keepers caring for animals and they were friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to answer questions. We went on an overcast partly rainy day in spring: the train, most the concessions, and the rides were not open due to weather, but we were able to park close in the parking lot and there were no crowds. Highly recommend riding the gondola up to let the kids play on the playground- great nature theame playground for all ages with amazing views and excellent California history on top. Overall, very good day exploring conservation and learning about animals which is why we went!

Enjoyed it. But not an option for those on a budget.

We love the Oakland zoo! We signed up for emails and we get cool offers. On Valentine's day they sent us an email to drop off the kids at the zoo while we go enjoy the evening! How cool is that! They always send promotional helpful emails that are good reading. The zoo is clean. The staff is friendly. The animals are awesome and the kids rides are a wonderful addition to the zoo.

Way better than the San Francisco Zoo. Parking is horrible though.

We enjoyed our visit. Far less stress-free ING then visiting g the SF Zoo. Parking is sane... admission costs are sane. We enjoyed everything. The fruitbats were quite interesting. Also the teens sitting at the information tables were helpful and good at explaining things to the little kids.

Great way to spend an afternoon. Half a day should be enough time to get around and see the main things.
Some of the highlights for us were the Gibbons on their island. Be sure not to miss them.
A couple of other things worth seeing are the flying foxes on the way out are also definitely worth a visit ( mainly since you don t see those very often) and also the reptile house (very nicely done with a few different terrariums and very active little guys to see).

Great place to take the kids. Food and drinks are expensive so bring your own bag. The gondola was a fun short ride. They also have some kid rides. The California trail was amazing great views of Oakland the Bay bridge and San Francisco. You can spend the whole day there and it is worth it!!!

Nice place for the kids as well as grown up! The Zoo is in natural setting with lots of greenery and lots of animals!

You can go to the zoo and see the animals but the rides cost money.

The animals seemed to be well cared for. Additionally, we loved the stunning gondola ride! Our visit was very lovely!
