I was so disappointed. I read the reviews carefully because I rarely go to Los Gatos and was taking my 4 month old puppy out with me and my friends after seeing the Fantasy of Lights- There was many reviews stating this was a very dog friendly spot with great food. I was truly looking forward to checking this place out. What a surprise- after we were seated outside on a chilly night so we can have me puppy there. She was asleep on my lap, and I was told she had to sit on the ground due to health reasons. There was no one else sitting outside with us and she was so quiet. My friends and I ate quickly, didn t enjoy our meal at all. This is NOT a dog friendly place in my eyes .
I just wanted to share my experience in case anyone wants to bring their puppy here.

Came here with my wife and infant. After a fifteen minute wait we got a bench seat that we shared with another couple. Cocktail and tap selection fit both of us and the pizzas were perfectly cooked with just a little char on a thin, chewy crust. This was our second time and we're looking forward to our third visit.

Pizza decent, salads are simple. The drinks are definitely not worth the amount of money you would be spending. Probably would not come back. The bathrooms are pretty rad but not very fitting for the rest of the restaurants atmosphere.

Small limited menu and then one of the items we wanted was not available. Very boring menu. We ordered off their special menu...and the fish sandwich came also boring....2 pieces of fried fish on a bun slightly dressed with melted american cheese....and a side of undressed Arugula. Service was slow. This restaurant mostly does wood fired pizzas. We ordered 2...they were ok but not great. The beet salad with ricolta was the best thing we ordered.....but certainly there was little interedt or variety and a lack luster desire on the cooks to serve good food. Will not go back.

I really wanted to like this place. The food is good not great but the staff are just not happy to be there nor are they particularly friendly. Came once for brunch and had to wait 20 minutes to order because the printer wasn't working for tickets in the kitchen. So, pen and paper weren't available? It made no sense. No apologies for the delays. I went again and the staff again just seemed put out by having to care for the customers and took no joy or pride in their work or the restaurant. I'd prefer to go somewhere where people are happy and they were happy to have customers. 3 strikes. Stars are for the food only.

An authentic and tasty spot in downtown Los Gatos. Had the scottie2hottie for the second time. Loved it, again. I was hoping to see the gnocchi with wild bore, but it is gone from the menu. In the past I've also enjoyed the pretzel and the beet salad mightily. My only complaint is the noise level, otherwise it's pretty close to a five star.

Best wood-fired pizza in the area. Love the Oak & Rye bottled cocktail. Menu is short and concise allowing for perfection in every dish. Fresh seasonal ingredients shine. Nice selection of affordanle wines, craft beers and creatrive cocktails.

Even with almost empty restaurant on Saturday afternoon, they would not seat four of us as they will not place two tables together. Two seat tables can be easily joined by moving them few inches. They refused and we left to go to Pizza Antica at Santana Row, which has very good customer service and good pizza.

Delicious pizza, why are you so far away?

Delicious pizza, why are you so far away?

I spotted this place pop up on Hella Pie Pizza's Instagram. It looked legit. It is legit. Go!

We drove up from our Airbnb in Santa Cruz for lunch. What a worthwhile trip, I tell you. We got some pizza that looked like a meatzza. Taking a dumb picture was the last thing on my mind because we already had a little drink buzz going and it looked so freaking good. Omg was it good.

If you're looking for an amazingly well done wood fired pizza with good old California flair and inspiration, you done found it. Sauce so fresh. Crust so flavorful. I'm in love!

It has a good location.

It has a good location.

The music was very loud, I listen to rock and blues at very high volume levels, but this was a combination of top 40 from the 90's and rap. Loud from cheap speakers! Not very conducive to pleasant dining.

There was only one waitress, who had a hard time keeping up with the entire crowd on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Had to ask for someone to take our order, ask for sweetener for tea, ask about our food (since people who came in after us both ordered before us and some who ordered after us ate while we were waiting.)

I did have the unique opportunity -- a lifetime first -- of cutting burnt edges off my pizza.

Will not return. Would not recommend it to anyone.

I love this place! They have the real deal pizza oven in their kitchen decorated with pennies! Their pizzas are delicious. Their salads are fresh. The fried potatoes with the fish roe is so good! The service is great too. It's a small-ish place so expect a bit of a wait. There's outdoor seating with lamp heaters. It's especially lovely during the warmer months to sit outside. The bar is small with about 6-8 seats for FCFS. This is one of my go to restaurants when I'm in Los Gatos!

Got yelled at by a crazy customer at the counter. I said hello and how you doing or something similar. He came in and sat next to me. I figure when you're sitting at a bar or counter 2 inches from somebody you can at least be cordial and human. Otherwise get a damn table to yourself. The food looks great and I want to go back.

Let me start by saying food is good. What I've never been impressed with is their lack of good customer service. Today we had a group of about 15, kids and adults. 10 minutes before they opened, I asked if my 4 year old daughter could use their restroom, they understood it was my 4 year old. Hostess told us NO! Thank you pedro's for being what oak and rye isn't, a community friendly business.

The pizza was good. But what is this thing of 3% for 'living wages' + 20% gratuity for groups? Either the tip goes to support the living wage or do not include it, or increase the price and pay your employees, but do not keep posting prices on the menu that get 'magically' increased in some fine print.

Pizza was so-so, flavors ok, but dough not cooked enough. Spongy, toppings not staying on the Pizza. They also delivered my Pizza, then we waited while 2 to go pizzas went out then another pizza to someone else, Seeing this I asked the waitress, don t they cook the pizzas on the same ticket order together? Her response was they can only cook two pizzas at a time??? Finally after waiting about 10 minutes the other persons Pizza arrived. Never going back!
Not worth the cost! Much better Pizza out there without the headache.

Hashtags, Chris Hemsworth and Game of Thrones these are things that have nothing to do with my review but I'm going to be honest I didn't know how to start off this review to catch your attention but if you're still reading this then it worked. In a way I kind of didn't lie because if Chris Hemsworth ever made a guest appearance on Game of Thrones and they ended up catering through Oak & Rye they would all hashtag how marvelous these pizzas are! Don't believe me then Chris Hemsworth call me *wink*

The main centerpiece, their large oak powered wood-fired oven covered in pennies and Rye whisky should be the reason that draws you in (That's where the name Oak & Rye came from) Fresh ingredients and top notch service should be the reason you come back. I also have to give them props for the awesome names that they produced. I guess I am easily amused and I usually don't drink but with names like

(+)Up in Smoke ~ A spicy hit from the Chile infused tequila ::or::

(+)De Niro's Taxi ~ Rye, lemon juice and egg white how could I pass on drinks so brilliantly constructed and despite the names they were both well balanced.

Going over their menu they have a variety to offer from pan-seared dumplings to Gnoochi. It was all tempting but I only have one stomach and had a hankering for one of their pizzas, so pizzas it was. Two pizzas ended up calling out to me and that was...

(+)Scotty to Hottie ~ A red pie topped with sopressata, basil, salami, honey and pepperoni oil. I loved the sweet and spicy combo it all came together nicely with each bite!

(+)Bruce Banner ~ Topped with mozzarella, Kale, lemon and Parmesan. This pizza was so well assembled that the Hulk would smash for this piece of pie.

Well prepared food, energetic and vibrant atmosphere this is the place that all Adults, kids and the elderly can all agree on. There's something for everyone at Oak & Rye. It's the one places that can bring all generations together!

Delicious delicious delicious! The olives were yum, the broccolini with Parmesan and garlic was unreal, and the pizzas were delectable. The rosemary pizza (think it s called Nobu) was by far my fav thing of the evening. The spicy salami and honey pizza was awesome too (I don t remember the name, but they said it was their #1 seller. )
Ambiance was legit - especially if you re an 80s/90s kid.

My friend and I each ordered a beet salad (delish!) and shared the Puttanesca (pizza with tomato, garlic, oregano, onion, caper, parmigiano, boquerones) with an extra topping of arugula.

The boquerones were chopped up into tiny pieces - unlike how we had it in Italy where the entire boquerones lay on the pizza. This combined with the tart tomato sauce made for a peculiar combination.

My partner had placed a phone order and they said they pizza would be ready by 12:30 to pick up. When he arrived, they told him to wait outside. Turns out, he waited for 45 minutes only for the pizza to have been already been ready.

Edit: They refunded for the long wait

This place definitely has some pros and cons. The hostesses are always lost and have no idea what they re doing which can be frustrating... we seem to always get seated at the high top table which you have to sit on these high benches and then you re sitting and bending over in this uncomfortable position which always makes my back hurt by the time we leave. I ve asked to sit elsewhere but have been told that it s for bigger parties (since we go as a party of 2) which is unfortunate...

I ve had many fire oven pizzas in my life and none of them have had burnt areas on them. I noticed all the pizzas come out like that and I guess some people like it but I just eat around the burnt areas since the rest of the pizza is always delicious. My husband got a flank steak from there before and we were disappointed to see that is was $30 for a tiny steak with no sides but the steaks was very delicious so... like I said pros and cons. Music is always good and the drinks are great there. We also love the charcuterie board as an app.

All u can say is damn good pizza! We had a vegetarian pizza that we loaded up with mushrooms, onions, jalapenos and garlic and it was done to perfection! Went here with a fairly large sized group and they were able to get us seated and our orders fairly quickly and always made sure to check in on us. Our service was quite good. Highly recommend this place.

PARKING: Easy for a Friday night; parked on the same block about 50 yards away.

VIBE: relaxed, informally elegant, record label artwork made for fun conversation and visuals while dining. Chill music.

SERVICE: Friendly, courteous, thoughtful, friendly. They understood how not to interrupt a conversation (key!). Answered questions thoughtfully and succinctly.

FOOD: Friend wanted pizza and I wanted veggies so split these plates...
* Wine ordered cabernet because pinot was by the bottle
* Seared Broccolini (spritz of lemon and sprinkling of chili pepper and garlic)
* 5 Boroughs Pizza ate all of the soft crust
* Dessert amazing but forgot the name
