Great wee venue. Easy to get to on the subway or the bus. Been twice this month already!
Great wee venue. Easy to get to on the subway or the bus. Been twice this month already!
Good venue but the acoustics were a bit off, too bassy and couldn't hear the vocals properly.
Great night out seeing scooter .good place for concerts sound a little lacking.
Here to see Steel Panther. You'll never understand their music till you see them live.
Shout out to wayward sons. Great opening act. Been on my list too see for a while now.
Too friggin hot it would cook ye even the band Luke Combs complained!!
The sound quality is not that great but if you choose your band wisely they'll pull it off and make it work. I do recommend the owners of the venue really invest in some better acoustics as support bands always sound awful. Seen Rob Zombie's show here and it was epic though.
A room with great potential, great parties and friendly service
The O2 Academy is a brilliant venue for gigs with a good view of the stage from most points in the auditorium. The only slight niggle on occasions is how long it takes to get served at the bars at bug events.
I'm glad I didn't go all the way to the floor as I'm not into crowds or mish pits. There is a good mix of areas to stand, like 4 bars and a balcony upstairs. Beautiful venue.
Great for gigs. Loved my time here.
I shall be back for sure..
The coat room que can be 30minutes or longer at the end of the night
Every gig I've been to here has been brilliant. The atmosphere is brilliant. Only the Barras beats it.
1st time here. Better than expected. Balcony is free seating but plenty of leg room.
A good venue, near to motorway, good size as well, plenty of seats, bars are priced fair for drinks etc. Nice decor.
Went to scott bardley post modern jukebox absoutely brillant
Friendly and helpful staff each time I visit. Would have given 5 stars but for some reason the air conditioning was either not on or broken and I had a numb bum from the seats. Fix these two things and it would be a 5 star rating.
Great venue. Great view from standing and great view from upstairs. Drinks are not cheap but staff and stewards are all great friendly and helpful. Easy to get to. 5 minute walk from City centre and plenty of free parking in surrounding area and public transport links include buses and underground.
Great night at The Cult ig. Balcony, free seating. Great view no obstructions. Sound perfect no ringing ears!
Been to this venue many a time over the year and decent venue, soundsystem can be a hit or a miss depending on the gig/night that's on. Drinks prices are reasonable but the toilets ain't the best
A fairly good gig venue in Glasgow, sound quality can be a bit of a hit or a miss at times though.
Sound can be hit or miss. Main problem is terrible layout for toilets, people love standing on the stairs at mezzanine level blocking the way past and an overpriced bar. Rather travel to another date on the tour than go here again.
The O2 Academy is a music venue that has been converted from a theatre. Due to this is has a main standing area close to the stage with bars along the walls along with two raised standing sections with bars near the entrance. In addition to the standing section there is seating upstairs. The raised areas and style of the building give a unique feel the the venue and the sound quality has always been good.
The only downside is that the venue is a reasonable walk from the centre of Glasgow and the toilets where found to be a little dirty. Apart from these minor issues the O2 Academy is a great venue to watch live music which i would highly recommend.
Oversubscribed on the night and drinks extortionate O2 could spend some money on the venue rather than just taking the profits
The owner is ignorant and rascist so won't be going back there.
Went to see Travelling Willobys.. good set up, handy for transport, got a bar but limited choice and expensive
Great night, great music, great venue 2000 people all sharing common ground, united through music in a world defined by division, need to remember how it felt inside the venue singing along with the lyrics when we go return to our places of work on Monday.
Easily my favourite venue to Glasgow. Might be tighter that the Barras' but made up by it looking great, 2 floors with seating, easy to get to 1 of the 4 bars and good sound for gigs.
Went to see Cage the Elephant, the concert itself was amazing. Great place to see a band but where they sell their merchandise is absolutely ridiculous. It was located at the stalls so anyone in the balcony needed to wait until the end...they did say it would be open to all 15 minutes before the end...but really, who wants to miss the last part...not me! When I complained they said it would be open for 30 minutes after the show...slightly better but I also needed to get a train back home. On top of that the t-shirt I wanted was sold out in my size. Felt discriminated against because we had balcony tickets! Very frustrating as this was a gift from my daughters and I wanted a memento...did get something but was 2nd choice.
First time at this venue and heard lots of negative stuff so didn't have high hopes, but I was very surprised. I liked the layout and got a got a good vantage point, so no complaints from me.
Intimate atmosphere and not as big as some other venues but better quality of show for me
This is a great venue for a gig! Been here a few times& love it! Highly recommend!
Good venue, poor 02 signal and shabby selection of draft beers.
Staff were accommodating and really nice, venue was so amazing! (Also the show was great as well)
Attended the Cirque du mort here, not bad, lots of scope for improvement in stage work, layout and general ambience.
Best gig I've ever been to was here: Gogol Bordello. Liked the venue as it was clean and well maintained. Sound was good too.
Excellent venue, tiered for a good view and the locals make the atmosphere, drinks are not at rip off prices like other O2 venues .... Best O2 I've been to by a mile
I was surprised at how big this venue really was compared to the ABC O2 (rip...). It is also incredibly easy to get to at anytime of the day due to it being situated directly next to Bridge Street subway (beware of closing times though). Another thing I noticed was the abundance of smaller bars around the hall, something which I deeply appreciated
Toilets are a bit small, and if your standing it can be hard to see, but that's mainly because the building is not new.
Excellent. Very well organised. Had no hassles at all.
Show was simply ok. The premises were a tad shabby and run down.
The engineers seem not to bother much with the support acts and their show suffers due to bad sound. Usually spot on for headliners though and its a decent venue.
Great venue, slightly pricey for drinks but still good none the less.
Quite a good venue for live music. Negative is the gents being right at the back, meaning if watching near the front making way right through the crowds to get there, and state of the toilets a bit unpleasant.
I've been to the O2 academy for concerts and shows several times now and I have to say that it's got a great atmosphere and the acoustics are absolutely fantastic. Most of the places to stand have got a great view of the stage so you can easily see what's going on.
Overall a great venue as long as you don't want to drink anything or have to go to the loo.
Quite nice venue
A bit old but good atmosphere
The cash only policy with no cashpoint in/near the venue is a bit tricky though
Great venue for shows, easy to get to, just a quick jump on the subway.
Two minutes from bridge street subway so east to get to from the centre of glasgow. O2 customers get priority entry. Really well staffed and a great bar. Great for gigs.
The O2 Academy (or just the Academy) is a bit of an institution. Putting on medium-large gigs for decades.
As with many gig venues, the bar is poorly stocked and over priced but that not what you go there for.
I assume it used to be a theatre which means that from all parts of the building you can have an excellent view of the stage.
The lower floor is standing and the balcony is seated but usually not allocated seats so it can be a but of a free for all.
Expect to get metal detected on the way in so dinnae bring a chib.
Great place to get a close up of your favorite musician! Easy access to the tube station.
Great place for a night of music. central train staions close by which is a plus if traveling in large numbers.
I was for a perfect circle concert here. I liked the ambient but there were like only 3 toilets on the lower ground.
