Smaller venue than hydro but is better to be closer to the band - Halestorm 23/04/18
Sound sometimes poor. Over priced bar. Over priced merch. Only go for a good band
Went to see Jack Garratt here on Saturday. Obviously a great gig but nice door staff and quick service on the bar
Just want to say how helpful and friendly the staff were at the Jack Savoretti concert this week at O2 Academy, Glasgow. This includes the staff helping the queues, the security check area and the bar staff, all very cheerful and pleasant.
Pretty sweet spot to find really cool concerts, parking right across from venue. Easy to find been here quite a few times. Highly recommend if there is a concert with your favourite artist. Don't think about it just go! Everytime I have been it's been an amazing memory. Nas Wu Tang Clan, Red & Meth, Ashanti, Dope DOD, & more. Tickets are fair not expensive. Highly recommended
We ve now been to a few gigs at this venue and felt compelled to acknowledge how well it does what it does! We are always bowled over by how friendly and welcoming all the staff are. Now that might seem a somewhat cliched sentence so I l revisit it. ALL staff we ve ever had any dealings with at the O2 have been first rate! Normally you might expect the odd grumpy exception but we ve yet to find one! Plenty of bar points inside makes getting refreshments pretty easy despite the crowds although perhaps the pricing is a little on the greedy side! Cloakroom services need to be sorted out as they are just too slow, especially if you have been stood queuing outside in the rain!
The Academy is a lovely venue, I don t personally like the layout of the venue.
great venue ,good acoustics and the crowd makes it even better
Dropkick Murphy's supported by The Devil Makes Three. Absolutely brilliant
Went to see tribute to the Traveling Wilburys and Roy Orbison brilliant night
Great venue. Great sound. Great night. Be back for embrace. Cannie wait . Keep it up
Great gig but female toilets out of use at front. Long trek for a pee. I was quicker heading home... ...
Staple in the Scottish music scene without This place many bands would not have been seen. Amazing venue.
Busy busy concert, great show, great crowd.
Only one person missing was Bob Marley !
Great wee place for a concert, but beware this place is roasting.
Light effect very annoying flashing at people on the upper floor. Air conditioning is poor. Good sound performance. O2 priority queuing is a great way to show appreciation to its customers
Staff were excellent , no disabled access in the gallery ,, good for cafe round the corner with toilets , , seating a bit cramped ,
Saw James here in 2010. Quite simply the best gig ever. Venue + Crowd + Band = Suberb.
Apart from the expensive bar prices, this is an excellent venue and attracts some big name artists.
Had an amazing time at the 02 academy best place to take a child for their first concert my son loved it and wants to come back
Really nice venue that's not too big, good for more UK intimate concerts. The building itself isn't in great condition but the sound quality was good and the view was good from all the seats in the balcony. Good bar as well, quick service and not too expensive. they even serve double pint servings to save you having to come back to the bar during the concert.
Fantastic venue my new husband and I had a brilliant time at the Shinedown concert couldn't ask for better... thank you
I've been here a few times to see gigs but this was the worst experience I have ever had here! We were seated at the Gerry Cinnamon gig and decided to sit at the very back where it appeared to be the most quiet. Once the gig had started, someone very close to us had let off pyro and it was stinking and had there been a fire- we would not have made it out of there alive. People were jumping on the seats - surprisingly not breaking them - a group of maybe 5 young men started to smoke weed right next to us which forced us to leave. Once we left to the bar we decided to report it to the security woman - we were told there was 4 security for 1500 people and they could not handle this amount of people! We got moved to the balcony for maybe 1 minute later a young boy to start smoking next to us. We left and the gig was completely ruined for us!
Seen Heaven 17 tremendous as usual but venue a massive let down, very crowded for getting drinks access up and down really poor.
Brilliant old music venue. Loads of standing room downstairs and seating upstairs. Well organised. Toilets aren't the best.
Great night watching Rodrigo y Gabriela, good selection of beers even for an old fuss pot like me.
Went to see Steel Panther last night. We were sitting in the balcony enjoying the show when two selfish fannybawz decided it was appropriate to not find seats but to stand in the balcony passage way in front of us and block our view and the view of the people behind us. They refused to sit or move out the way when challenged and venue staff did nothing.
Further along from us others were having much the same problem with three drunks, one of whom fell over several times and it was not until late on in Steel Panther s show that staff eventually removed them.
I ve been to the o2 Academy in Glasgow many times and it has always been a great night but last night the stewards on the balcony did not do a good job.
I really hope the o2 sort out this issue for future events.
Went to see proclaimers recently for the 3 rd time. Not much on offer for non alcoholic drinks. Floor gets very slippy , toilet area could have had more working 2 out of 4 available. Some staff quite unhelpful that night !
Great venue for live music (as long as you don't need a seat). Big stage, good view from most areas, and good sound. Beer a bit expensive and nasty, but par for the course.
Great venue for slightly smaller bands the only negative is the huge mark up on drinks
Brilliant atmosphere. Great gig. Sam fender was awesome.
Can't beat this place for a concert. Top class, plenty of good friendly helpful staff. You are still ability to get a drink during the concert at a reasonable price. Well done 02 Glasgow.
Extremely attentive staff, brought out water and kept us up to date with delays on door opening times.
Love this place resonable drink prices and always a good night
Daughtry concert with early entry as i needed a seat. Lovely steward showed me to the balcony as im only wee and helped us with the stairs. All the staff i encountered.were a joy and the band its self SUPERB. Only negative lemonade was mingin lol
Fantastic! Great place for a gig! My mate Baz said the toilets were too clean and took a dump in the wash hand basin!
Had a few really good nights in here drink very expensive but it is almost glasgow city centre
Great night too many kids at jake bugg as 14yr olds were getting in.
This is a good venue, big enough to generate a good atmosphere, small enough that you feel close to the band. The acoustics are good and even on the main floor, you have, a good view. There are several permanent bars, so there is a choice of beers and a good selection of drinks. The security staff are unobtrusive and friendly and there are plenty of bar staff. 100m or so from Bridge Street underground station, which also has parking (not free but not expensive). Also plenty of bus routes pass right outside. 15 min walk to city centre.
Been to many a gig here. Staff are always friendly and it's a lovely venue
Great venue for gigs. I counted to five bars in total so no need to stand and wait even with a full house. Good visibility towards the stage from most positions due to different levels. Also nice with the bar upstairs where it was much quieter when you wanted to get away from the bands and the notice for a wee while.
My 18yr old daughter and her friends attended gun for hire tonight at your venue tonight and I am appaled by the behaviour of your door staff towards my daughter and some other young people who also attended to give my daughter abuse because she would not show them her phone which is her private property (her phone was dead no battery which she showed them) even though she had a passport identification. Then to say to another 18yr old girl from Greenock after refusing her entry I hope you don't get raped tonight .Then one of the young men they were with took a photograph of the bouncer after he gave him abuse aswell just for the other bouncer to come over and act in a threatening manner towards the young man because he took photographic evidence of the said door man. Absolute disgrace for young people to a victim of this kind of abuse if it was the youngpeople acting in that would they would be called scum thing you as a company should check up door men and at least give these said young people an apology for the way your door staff treated them. After reading some of your previous reviews it sounds like your doormen have a serious attitude problem and you as a provider shoulddeal with the situition. I will be checking this Web page regularly for some kind of response to my complaint thank you.
My daughter is disabled and staffa the 02 were very helpful. It was an enjoyable experience.
One of the best venues for a gig in Glasgow. Great to see bands in a more intimate hall as apposed to the far bigger venues.
This is one of my favourite concert venues in Glasgow, because you can get a good view of the stage not matter where you are. Only downside is that they now put the merchandise stall inside the concert area, it's in the standing area, which means if you have a balcony ticket you cannot access it. I prefer to sit on the balcony, so I get I never buying any more merchandise.
Great for gigs ,drinks range limited and costly but otherwise great
It's a nice venue but it was well overpacked and the drinks cost my first born child
Lovely area see a show spacious and comfortable, only few minutes from city bridge.
Great venue, multi tiered with seating available, multiple bars and exits with disabled access!
Busy venue, good security on way in. Some folk the the worse for drink which is annoying, really shouldn't be served. Not much by way of gents toilets.
Staff were good on the night, pleasant and helpful. Pity there wasn't seating but maybe that depends on the number of tickets sold for the gig.
Hawkwind were amazing, space rock alive and well.
Has great shows but can get overfull and has poor air circulation.
Brilliant place to watch live bands . #machinehead kicked ass . First time here and will definitely be back . It hold around 4 thousand with balcony around , has a couple of bars inside the venue . A perfect place to watch metal bands .
Usually available decent venue, this time prices were high and security low
