Update - Run! This company failed to show at my p...

Update - Run! This company failed to show at my protest hearing as promised in 2016! Out of pure stupidity I asked them to protest for 2017. They went to the hearing but presented none of the information I had given them thus my taxes were not reduced. 2018 I am super busy right now and a didn't have the time to change protest companies. Against my better judgment, a month ago, I asked O'Connor to protest again in 2018. Called this morning to get an update and was told there is a backlog thus my protest had not yet been filed. None of the information I provided a month ago for 2018 had been placed in my file. Of course received assurances that it would be filed by May 18th. (And I'm supposed to trust this? LOL. Today I took the extra time to change protest companies to Resolute Properties as recommended by my neighbor. O'Connor has lost my business for good.
If O'Connor truly does read these ratings here is my message:
Hire sober and English speaking people for your call center. Have a supervisor actually available to help with questions your front line can't answer. Have your people actually return calls. You are a steward of people's money. People hire O'Connor in good faith for something very important to them. Do you really think that a customer wants to speak with people in India or worse, people who seem to be inebriated about their case? Do what you used to do a few years ago and provide the service you promise on your website. I get making money is important for your company, but you changed from just having bad customer service to truly harming people who trust you to deliver on your promises. O'Connor has changed from being a trusted partner to a company that is no longer trustworthy.

Yikes - I've used them a few years and decided to include my rental with them this past year. They appealed my permanent residence and the job was so poor that not only were they unsuccessful in lowering my taxes (on an appraisal of 246k) to match the rest of the 13 units in my condo community (average of 218k) that are all equivalent in size and look, my homestead somehow got removed after their appeal and my price jumped from the previously appraised 245k to 254k.. They said that because my unit is valued below $350k they cannot fight my case further via binding arbitration or judicial appeal. So Im now going to go fight the case myself. I think they've grown too large and the quality of representation is extremely low.

For 2017, I got a valuation of $290,000. I protested myself using isettle and HCAD offered me a appraisal of $270,000. This was still high so I contracted them. But when they represented me, they increased my appraisal from $270,000 to $285,400, which is very much higher then homes in my neighborhood. Later when they notified me about this I emailed them not to accept $285,400 but they went ahead and accepted it. When I tried to call them, I got callback from someone sitting in India.

They are bunch of useless fellows who will never justify with your case.

Terrible Service & Term Limits may Disappear: We put in a term limit of 1 year to try them out and after receiving a whopping $29 tax deduction we decided to take our business elsewhere. "Be Very Careful" of the term limit in years you agree to.... if you set a 1 year term limit, it may suddenly disappear from their electronic document signing system..

I have used O'Connor & Assoc. for my personal property taxes for the past several years. They are very thorough and it is a very easy process. Once you give them all the info they can automatically go to bat to lower your taxes each year without having to lift a finger! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Unprofessional and frustrating experience. Terrible customer service, terrible prices (I've heard you can find better prices from companies that can actually help you), terrible results, and terrible communication between the people in that company and to me. If you have an issue, even when they are at fault, they will never return your calls, in particular one of their supervisors, Latoya Hill. The only choice I had for speaking to a person was one of the representatives who are never able to do anything for you. If you ask them to speak to a supervisor or manager, they will always put you on hold for a while, then tell you someone will get back to you in 24-48 hours. I've been told that more than 5 times with no one ever getting back to me within the span of 1 month. It was only through persistent calling that Latoya actually picked up one day...which she told me she would get back to me, and then never did. They represented me on the wrong date when they did not have all the information of property damage, etc, and got the same value that I was able to get on my own through e-file. They will bill you for something you can easily do yourself online. Even if additional evidence was provided to them, I doubt that they would put in the effort to use it and get a better value. I finally did not want to deal with them anymore and paid them since I know no one at O'Connor & Associates will ever get back to me, and my bill will start accruing interest and be sent to collections. Absolute waste of money, time, and energy.

This is a very difficult business that O'Connor works in, considering the large number of widely diverse clients O'Connor deals with every year, all of whom have different property appraisal districts spread all over Texas with different filing-deadline and hearing dates that have to be met. Although their communications with a client regarding the completion status of the process along the way is somewhat lacking, in the end O'Connor did a great job of reducing my 2018 property taxes. I have no complaints whatsoever. Thank you O'Connor & Associates!

O'Connor has done a great job for me for over a decade. They handle both my home & business properties & so far have gotten the value reduced on both of them every year. I tried to protest a couple times on my own before signing up w/ them & found myself unprepared for the data presented by HCAD. O'Connor has the facts & knows how to argue your case.

Not only I am disappointed with assessment price but what I am shocked about is that on my own I was able to get lower assessment price for my house in initial hearing but I disagreed and hire O'Connor services and I was kept asking about agent who will represent me in ARB hearing but Support team always said they are not aware of agent. At last I got bill to pay with 6k more assessment value to what I was offered. Lesson Learned.

Dont bother using. Complete fail in doing the one thing they exist for - protesting taxes. They were supposed to support my 2015 tax protest. They didnt bother showing up to the court hearing. After they repeatedly asked for me to give them another chance, I finally agreed. Nearly a year later, they still have not followed through. I call their customer service desk - alas no one can tell me what is the status. Strongly suggest looking elsewhere

I've used this firm for 3 years now and am satisfied with their services. I get an email notification each year reminding me about upcoming board reviews. The dollar savings has declined each year, along with there fees of course, but I attribute that to the fact that I didn't have a lot of issues with my properties (3 total) that warranted me sending in condition photos.

Those considering hiring them, be aware that work is needed on your part if you want significant reduction on your property tax. You have to take photos and fill out a condition form. The more details you provide, the more they can help you.

That said, having a professional services firm send someone to argue the stupid level of tax increases is worth what they get as payment.

I called to have this company protest my taxes on 4 properties, they did not file a notice of protest for 3 of 4 properties. Even though they've recognized mistake was theirs they have not offered a real solution to remedy the issue. I would advice you to look elsewhere to protest your taxes.

I've been a client of O'Connor's for 12 years. I've found them to be efficient, thorough and convenient to use. Can you do the same thing they do with the county tax appraiser? Sure you can but it's not how I want to spend my time making sure I meet those deadlines and trying to pull together the documentation to support the challenge EVERY year. They do get a fee if your taxes are reduced but it may be a fee out of money you wouldn't have had anyway if you didn't have the documentation or respond in a timely manner. I appreciate O'Connor's service.

The process was very easy and the people at O'Connor were very responsive when I had a question. I have never used a firm to lower or challenge my property taxes before but in this instance I am very satisfied with the results.

I have never experienced anything like this before. I have used this service for a few years NEVER had any issue. This year my taxes were being raised the maximum amount by law. Whoever this company sent decided at the informal hearing just to agree to that? We didn't have any formal hearing, no appeal, no contact to me? So by that logic I guess if you want someone to walk in and say what's the max you can tax us? we will take it! This companies for you. Then I wasn't notified of this decision till 30 days later so by that point all my options were gone. Then I was sent a bill for $5. Really? I tried to call nothing but excuses.

I saved money the first year I used the company. The following year I had lost the property in foreclosure and after I received a bill, I spoke with them. The associate said they cleared the invoice. THREE years later I receive another bill claiming I still owed them money plus interest unless I can prove what they told me. You wait three years to get more interest?? I now see how this firm is run. Never again will I do business or have a single positive thing to post on social sites about this company.

BEWARE!!! I signed up with them because my tax value was to go up 90k! They said they would handle everything, and I did not have to attend the hearing. I called the day before the hearing, and was told I would be contacted within 48 hours with the results. On the 3rd day I called to find our they DID NOT EVEN SHOW for the hearing, and would reschedule. It has been a month and the appraisal district CLOSED my Protest, and I'm stuck with 90k more to pay taxes on.

I've used O'Connor & Associates two years in a row. They have reduced my tax value by around $30,000 each year. The tax valuation on my house is much lower than what it is actually worth. What I like about them is that all I have had to do was fill out the form two years ago. They protested my taxes the second year without me having to do anything.

Something that you do not think about when protesting your tax value is that you end up getting a refund from your escrow account, which in turn, lowers your monthly mortgage.

My thoughts are, if you aren't going to protest on your own, why not just let O'Connor & Associates do it for you? It is literally like getting free money each year.

Don't bother signing up through their website, they just send an automated reply saying they will contact you, but they don't. If this is the kind of attention they pay to their cases, I'd rather get someone else.
