We have been using O'Connor & Associates for about 4 years on all of our personal and rental properties. They have saved us hundreds of dollars. We couldn't be happier with the continual service. After the first year of setting things up with them it is very low effort.

Sent them all documents they needed along with the authorization to represent me. I called to confirm that they received all needed documents and they said they did. Just got my tax bill and my property value increased by around $50k. I called them and they are now saying they received all documents except the authorization to represent me. They are also saying that whoever I spoke with to verify never even entered in my call. Because of their sloppiness they never even filed a protest.

Property taxes are HUGE in Texas. O'Connor & Associates got a large reduction and they did all the work. I'm amazed they were able to get the reduction because I thought the value was fair. However, since they offer a contingency fee with no flat fee, I let them go for it. The customer service was great.

Can't rate 0 stars apparently.. I understand if they can't change taxes, but, general communication, customer service, and honesty would go a long way. I have sent numerous emails with no responses. I called and dealt with a rude lady and was told they would send a breakdown of the hearing and received no documents or information other than, 'nothing changed from the hearing.' They don't strive to help you understand your tax issues. They just wanted to avoid my questions, make it sound like it was something I should already know and get off the phone. I will not be recommending this company to anyone and feel very disappointed in this experience.

I have used O'Connor for over 10 years with no real issues. However, recently I received a bill listing a property I sold 4 years ago. The representative told me that they knew I no longer owned the property and that the bill was not for that property, but for another property which I did own. I told the representative to correct the invoice to reflect my current property address and I would be glad to pay it. At this point, the O"Connor rep started arguing with me over THEIR error rather than agreeing to correct it! I couldn't believe it! Finally, after several minutes of heated debate, the rep finally agreed to correct the billing error. As soon as I received the corrected bill reflecting the CORRECT property address I promptly paid it. Wow, what a way to do business! At this point I would not recommend O"Connor & Associates services to anyone, even though I have in the past.

I have been waiting for my property hearing results since June 15th, 2019. Oconner has told me that they havent received the results from the agent just yet. This information was relayed on July 5th, 2019 as well as July 8th, 2019

I decided to call DCAD to get the results. They told me no one showed up for the hearing therefore my property tax remained the same. I urge you to stay away from this company.

So happy we decided to use O'Connor & Associates for our property tax concerns last month. We dealt with Kirk and Sam, who were both very friendly and accommodating. It was a stressful process as our budget was already spread thin, but they managed to help reduce our property taxes and get us back on track. What really sets them apart is their customer service, they really went above and beyond to ensure we were getting the assistance we needed, answering questions (and we had a lot) the entire time. Thank you again O'Connor team, you guys are awesome!

I've used O'Connor & Associates for over 11 years for my residential home. This firm is great! I recommend them to all of my friends every year. They consistently keep my home appraisal lower than the appraisal district wants to set it. Periodically I will do a property search on the appraisal district's website to see how my appraisal compares to others on my street and I find that O'Connor keeps my appraised value lower than almost every other home on my street. That saves me taxes every year. O'Connor was even able to lower my appraised value when the appraisal district was already lowering my appraised value during the real estate downturn a few years ago. That was a nice bonus.

O'Connor is easy to deal with. Everything can be handled via e-mail and postal mail. I think I've called them once in 11 years and I've never had to visit them in person.

They collect 50% of tax reduction (which is very high) and I did better when I filed for my own protest for my other property. SO BEWARE and make sure that what happened to me will not happen to you.

We have used O'Connor & Associates for many years and they have reduced our taxes almost every year. They have been good in their communication on letting us know when they will be appealing and then the final outcome after their hearing on our property. Customer Service is also very easy to reach if you ever need to call them. Also, your payment can easily be handled online.

These people are awful. We contacted them several years ago and never read the fine print that the only way that we could stop in later years is to send them a certified letter. We had no idea that we were still in business with them until eight years later, we were served a citation. They sued us for 6 years of service....When I called them they told me did not mail any bills only emails. They had sent all my bills to an old email address that I had not used in many years. I immediately paid what they said that I owned and officially cancelled my service with them. And now I learn that the did not cancel the suit even though the bill was paid. It was filed in a court over 300 miles away. When I contacted the court, I found that if I do not show, the court will award a default judgement for the original amount so Patrick and Associates can collect for the amount twice. What a racket...My advise is run if you ever think about using this bunch!!! We are in our 70's, have excellent credit and have been associated with lawsuits but now learn that this company preys on senior citizens. I am filing a complaint with BBB and have an appointment to talk with a reporter with the AARP news magazine early next week. What I have been told is that they started out as a reputable firm but due to the expansion of their business it is getting quite shady.

The concept is good. But their service is horrible. I have 3 properties and I asked them to dispute all of them. Their company is so big all you can talk to is customer service reps with zero knowledge about the system. I sent in photos, surveys, and property info to help with my 3 cases. They didn't use anything I sent in. My cases weren't taken seriously. They got me $10 in savings per house. It is a joke. Their customer service reps are clueless. Don't use this company!!!! I did not have a good experience with this firm. They sent me a threatening letter and demanded payment for no apparent reason. They did not provide an invoice or an explaination but cited an issue with a previous home that I owned but sold three years earlier. I wrote them a letter requesting further information but did not receive an answer. I don't trust them and will not do business with them in the future.

I would have given minus on star if there is one, they would cheat you by doing twice on each year and bill you for twice the cost, but you only get one refund. At the end you are paying more to them annually than you get refund for property tax deduction.

I signed up to have O'Connor and Associates protest my taxes at the recommendation of a friend. Signing up was easy and fairly straight forward. I forgot about it until the sent me an invoice that stated the had gotten my property valuation lowered by about 10.5 percent saving me around $500 on my yearly tax bill. Their fee was just about 40% of what they save you so a fair deal I'd say for me not having to do much. You can pay on their website. I'm interested to see what happens next year. All in all a good experience.

Only issue is...they didn't show to our hearing. They had all the forms timely. Now we are faced to pay thousands of dollars because they failed to show up. This company is a property tax protest company but little do you know they have also have side businesses where they sell to their main business customers.

During hurricane Harvey my house got flooded. In the mix of all the chaos and disaster that happened to Houston they took advantage of the situation and started selling Hurricane Harvey IRS relief program package. When this package is sold to you, you think that it is part of their main business to help you protest your taxes on the property that got flooded but IT ISN T. It is a completely separate program that has NOTHING to do but protesting property taxes. This whole package is for somebody to alter your 2016 tax returns. (A job that an ACCOUNTANT does)

I got FOOLED into signing a contract with them. Now I owe them $4,500!!!
All they did was something that my CPA would have done for pennies on the dollar or for FREE!

500,000 homes were flooded during hurricane Harvey and all these people care about is making an extra dollar on people who lost so much!

O'Connor advertised "Rush My Refund" for the Harvey Hurricane. They didn't realized the law was changed and they had to file only on 2017. So now I can not get a return call. They charged us $1800 and got us $18k back. IRS audited, now we pay back $11,000. We've called and called, been passed around to everyone for months now. They NEVER call back. You will NEVER be allowed to talk with anyone who has answers. Very poor service and no reliability. They didn't even know the law. Big mess.

Watch out for the contract you sign with this company. If you don't put an end date, they will by default attempt to continuously drop your house price even if you don't want them to. Imagine you want to sell your house, this will then very negatively impact your selling price. Also, a legal way to rip you off every year even if you don't want to reduce your house value.

Company did not show for my hearing - didn't even bother to file the necessary paperwork though it was provided to them well ahead of their required deadline. They never called me to let me know. I did the work, they did nothing. I checked weeks after the hearing date, as they never followed up with me - FBCAD site said the protest was closed, they fed me a line about how the protest was rescheduled. I checked with FBCAD directly - they told me the truth: O'Connor not only never showed, they never filed the Appointment of Agent paperwork that I provided to them to represent me! Don't waste your time or trust with these dishonest people.

This company is committing fraud. I signed the form for them to represent me in fighting my property tax appraisal. They did not get the appraisal down at all. They sent me a letter to about 15 government officials saying that people in the appraisal district weren't allowing them to have the hearing. I sent the letters to all the government officials; one wrote back to me and told me it was O'Connor that was not showing up to hearings for their clients. I forwarded that letter to O'Connor and they didn't even bother to respond. I sent them a form that they no longer represented me. They sent me a bill the following year with made up numbers for the original appraisal and the new appraisal and said I owed them money. Number 1, they didn't have authority to represent me. Number 2, the numbers were fraudulent. Number 3, when I sent them documentation of my form that they didn't represent me and the true appraisal numbers, they still continued to send me bills and call me saying I owe them money.

Do not use them! They are crooks! It's amazing that they are still in business. They should be investigated by law enforcement! I will be pursuing this with government officials. I suspect they already know and are investigating, but I will make sure.

This company is horrible. The square footage of my house is off by over 100 square feet because the appraisal district used Google maps for the original square footage measurement. I had an appraisal done on my house and did all the legwork for my property taxes to be lowered. All O Connor was asked to do was schedule the hearing and present the documents that I sent them, showing that the square footage of my house is off by over 100 square feet. O Connor did not even dispute the square footage and only lowered my taxes by 1% (201k to 199k), and my square footage is still overstated by over 100 square feet. I told them I would not pay them until they did their job and presented my evidence I sent over 7 months ago electronically to lower my square footage, which would have brought a significantly higher discount on my property taxes. Instead, they sent me an invoice with late charges and a letter to accept confirmation of the results the board heard back in August with the incorrect square footage. You literally had one job I requested, which was to lower my square footage and you did not even attempt to do it. Now you re trying to add a late fee and threaten my credit. If you were even somewhat of a decent company you would have waived any charge at all for completely blowing the hearing, being negligent and not even attempting to do what I asked. I will make sure everyone on my neighborhood fb page along with the surrounding neighborhood fb pages are aware of how your company operates. As a legal company, you should be familiar with negligence and realize that when you operate under negligence, there should not be a fee for it, especially when it causes someone to lose money.

Well, there is nowhere on their site to allow you to pay them, so what do they do? They take you to civil/small claims and try to collect the amount due plus an additional $300 plus in attorney's fees.

I regret very much why did I use their service last year in 2017. Many properties in my lane who did not use their service or went by themselves were able to reduce their appraised value by at least $20,000. My house less upgraded and smaller in size as compared to other properties in the lane had more value last year and now because of that this year too. I had given all detailed working to them and all comparisons between different properties on my lane. I doubt they even looked into it. Calculation was very simple and clear that my property was over valued by at least $25,000. I thought it will be easy for them to explain. Because they were unable to do anything, I am ending up paying more money even this year. Don't know if I would be able to convince the assessing officer to reduce the appraised value, less than even last year's value. I am again deeply regretting on my selection for year 2017

I have been using O'Connor & Associates for the past 16 years, and they have consistently been able to get the taxes lowered on both my home and several commercial properties.
Their staff is experienced and professional in analyzing the property values. In many cases they ask for details that help with this valuation, and helps the case for a valuation adjustment. If they are not able to get satisfactory reduction, they recommend that we litigate, at their expense, in order to get a more satisfactory result. I only pay if the value is lowered. I have respect for the professionals that I have worked with, and the results. I have and do recommend them to anyone who feels that there assessed values are too high.

Absolutely appalling customer service. For the past month I have been getting contradictory messages saying I was not being represented by them followed shortly by messages saying I was. I cannot get anyone to call me back to discuss. Just horrific service.
Buyer beware! Last year I also had to challenge their savings formula as they were charging too much given my residential homestead exemption.
There has to be a better option. I haven t found it but I am actively searching and have had to represent myself this year given the late notice and confusing responses.

Never again will we hire these folks. We have had our home for 1.5 years. In this time we are finding more and more deterioration so we provided alot of evidence showing the deterioration of our home. Was going to try to attend the informal hearing and was told by them we could in sn email. However they went a few days before it was scheduled and with all the evidence we provided of rotten siding, deteriorating fence, etc our house assessed value was lowered by a mere $2600 which is a decrease of only 0.86% (tax lowered by around $50). The county had offered this lowered value to us after we submitted our protest but we declined because we knew all that we are finding wrong with our house. These folks were hired after that and given this evidence. I called them a few times to ensure they got all the info provided to them. They checked and confirmed it was all received and I was assured they would fight to lower our assessed value (and resulting property tax) by as much as they could. (Their own tax calculator that they had on their website a few months ago showed that our home value had been assessed 7% more by the county than it should be compared to other similar homes in the neighborhood and showed how much tax saving could be had). I was sick to find out the day of our informal hearing that they had already gone and the value was hardly lowered. My friend who hired them this year also had a similar experience. We will be handing this on our own from now on and not hiring anyone to go on our behalf. What a sickening experience for us.

I've been using their service for my house since 2004. Very straight forward with quick and organized responses via email and fax. I think I've called just once in the past 10 yrs. In all this time only once I have not obtained a deduction. I highly recommend their service if you don't have the time and energy to work with the county to get your adjustment.
