I bought a KickPed scooter from NYCeWheels online. I had searched online for a while to find the scooter I wanted, mainly for scooting around with my kids, with some moderate level commutes (couple miles each way), but on a machine that felt like it was built for adults, not just a slightly scaled kids scooter.
NYCeWheels get this scooter custom designed/built for them and overall it's awesome! Super robust. Looks good. Rides smooth. Grown-man scooter. (ummm, yeah, maybe that's not a thing...). I'm 200lbs and 6'1" and the large version is perfect.
Only gripes:
(1) You have to order direct from NYCeWheels website and they charged an extra $40 shipping to California (on top of what's already a fairly expensive scooter). Means it also took ~a week to arrive. Amazon has ruined me. If it's longer than 2 days I get feisty. I'd prefer if it NYCeWheels just sold it on Amazon and used their distribution network. And eBay also has some good shipping deals for sellers.
(2) Wish wheels had a larger diameter for more speed. Fine for mucking around but once you're using as a commuter you want a bit more speed.
(3) Foot board has carve outs for nimble turning (i.e. it's narrow) which is cool, but I feel like for me it's a bit too aggressively thin and no real way to cruise with two feet side by side.
But overall these are minor. It's a great scooter and I can tell will last a long time.
