A simple and classic European hotel

Great hotel, smack in the centre of the city. Lovely room, great beds, good kids facilities and helpful staff. Only down side was cost of hotel restaurant - eye wateringly expensive.

Stayed at the Novotel Gent for two nights. It met our expectations just fine. There was a lot of noise in the square outside, but the window insulated that noise perfectly at night, you couldn't hear anything anymore. The room was very neat and clean. The bathroom was also clean and tidy, we even had a bathtub. The breakfast was fine! No waiting and everything is tasty and sufficiently available.
The hotel is located in the middle of Ghent, everything is within walking distance.
I would recommend the hotel.

Lovely hotel, good location, friendly helpful staff. We had the executive suite as traveling with kids and it has a separate room for then with bunk beds.
Parking was hard and felt expensive. Breakfast could have had a bit more range but well done due having soya milk out without having to ask. Also the waffle maker was a hit with our boys.

Whatever you do, don't go to this during the Gentse feesten: they "rent" out their backyard and pool to eventbar and the pool and backyard is open to everybody, non-hotel guests so the small pool is overcrowded with people just soaking in the pool.It looks dirty and a mess to be honest.This is bad servicz to paying hotel guests who just want to relax in the pool.Very unpleased.And when you make a comment they just say "it is advertised"....not acceptable for a hotel

Perfect location, Clean rooms, Great view, great breakfast

Basic hotel but very conviniently located in the city center. We didnt have breakfast so can not comment on that. There were some marks on duvet cover..perhaps pen so didnt bother much. Its clean

Bed and room quite comfy but had to report the couple in the room next to me to reception four times for making loads of noise over night. Cranes on building suite started early in the morning so no chance of a quiet lie in.

Spacious rooms, varied breakfast and good customer service

The best thing is the location because it is right in the center, although it is also one of its cons if you come by car, it has parking with cost. Another of its benefits is that it accepts pets, also with extra charge but at least you can come with your dog without problem.

Enjoyed a nice lunch at a more than reasonable price, friendly service in a peaceful setting and yet in the center of Ghent.

Unfortunately the rooms are tiny and outdated !!! I paid extra for a superior room with breakfast, 1 night during the week with breakfast -> 151! To get the smallest hotel room I've ever had, towels for a person and a half and a sofa bed that was broken. When we inquired whether this room was right for us, we got the answer that it was the right room.
During the night we woke up several times from noise in other rooms and we had to call the reception twice for the arguments in the room next to us that got out of hand.
Very small outdated bathroom and very small room with hardly any space to walk around. There were even skirting boards under the bed, how well did the cleaning crew look ?
The glasses were also still up and dirty tea was left in the room.
The breakfast of 20 / p.p. dissapointing! The bread baskets only half filled and no staff to help! Bread had been out for a while and more than half the baskets were empty, the scrambled eggs were floating in water and the so-called 'buffet' was 10 steps past.
Setback !!!

Low-ish rating because the rooms do not justify the high price (174 Euro per night on my stay, albeit on a holiday weekend). The room decor is VERY dated, most exemplified by these horrible textured walls and light-colored fake wood headboard and furniture.

Location can't be beat.

Very well located hotel in the city center. Appreciable underground car park but very small, so be careful not to have too big a car! Classic Novotel room, with nice view on a square, concerning us. Very complete breakfast buffet.

Had wonderful days in this hotel.
Friendly people, decent rooms. Well secured, you can only take the elevator up with a room key. The parking garage is closed.
In addition, you can leave the hotel on 2 sides and then you are right in the center of Ghent ...
Really recommend!

It is a hotel of discrete proportions but with all the northern Belgian spirit. The best thing about it is the rustic cleaning of the interior. The breakfasts could be improved because they are patchy and not very fresh.
The best thing is that the animals are not real.

Excellent place. Only downside was that when I reserved my room (only 20 mins before I got there) and asked if there was parking, I was told "yes". When I arrived at the hotel it turned out that parking was a 10 min walk away.

Other than that though, I can thoroughly recommend this place.

In the heart of Gent with a very friendly staff. If I will visit Gent again then I'll stay their again.

Good service great location very good breakfast. And that is about it. Expensive for the room quality as rooms are old and you have an overall feeling that things are not clean as you step in the corridors.

Very central hotel in Ghent. But where is the 4th star? Deco hall and rooms a bit dated, not clean elevator, functional but not warm welcome, repeated messing around on a parking reservation. Quite a notch below the Ghent Marriott and other Novotel hotels. Pity.

Excellent hotel very well located in the city center

Found ourselves coming thru Gent on a random road trip. Stopped to snap some pics, stayed overnight and this place gave a drop-in discount (not massive, but a small discount). Really enjoyed the city, hotel was just fine, room comfortable and a good size. And Next door is a restaurant you have to go to - Amadeus 2!!
