Not to eat at the restaurant, very bad and very long wait. At the reception no experience. Personal to review

We stayed here mid July 2016, just before the so called 'Gentse Feesten' started.

Hotel is fresh, great mix of design, and neatly located in the heart of the city. There is an outside pool and breakfast is very good with a wide and deep range of products.

If you are looking for an awesome hotel, this is surely one to take into account.

Not particularly clean!
Presumably the hotel was overbooked, so we got a family room instead of two double rooms.
In the family room there were two rooms, one of which, probably the children's room, had no window - just scary.
The breakfast room was so small that we soon sat on the neighbor's lap. In the stairwell on our floor there were cleaning utensils and a spare folding bed, apparently for a long time.
The service staff was friendly and helpful.

Great food, drinks, service and facilities. What more can you ask?

Classic novotel hotel but staff is not very friendly... Good location for tourists.

Beautiful site in the historic center of Gent, at the foot of the Christmas market. Very good stay, varied breakfast and nice staff.

I like this hotel, great location and the staff are very good. Gluten free bread available at breakfast.

Rooms are now a little tired but a great location in central Ghent

Perfect location in the center. Spacious and clean rooms. In the summer cozy courtyard with small swimming pool and possibility to have a drink and eat. More luxurious hotel but with a relaxed atmosphere. Helpful staff.

Great rooms and hotel, good view from my room, good location to Christmas markets and centre

Stayed one night in November. This hotel was great value, and central to restaurants and bars.

All good great staff will return breakfast excellent lots of choice.

I only went to drink something for an event and the staff were very friendly and quick. Nothing to complain about in that regard.

Quite okay, right in the center ... somewhat dated rooms ...

This is a good quality hotel, with adequate and comfortable rooms. The breakfast selection is broad and of good quality. The bar & bistro are nice and serve nice food for a decent price. The WiFi is free, with premium options available for sale.

The only down side really is that street noises usually are quite penetrative due to the way the building is structured, so light sleepers may have issues there. Courtyard rooms are available though, and are much quieter.

We had booked a Christmas package that was already booked in late September through travel bird, but because it just went bankrupt 2 days later, we called the hotel to say that we wanted to make that trip anyway and luckily that was possible. on arrival we would get the 2-course Christmas dinner, but when checking in we were informed that everything was already booked so full. No problem, we thought, it will just be Christmas Day.
It turned out that everything closed at 5 o'clock on Christmas evening! We had to be quick to get a sandwich somewhere! Okay nothing to do. On the day of the dinner indicated that I had an allergy to certain foods, but that was not a problem at the time. When the time came, I couldn't order anything from the menu that we could choose from. They thought that was strange! In the end I indicated that I could have chips and fish but absolutely nothing with onions. When the food arrived I had what I ordered fries and a fried fish, there was just a salad with .... yes yes onions. My Christmas dinner was fried fish and plain fries without majonnaise that I later requested. My partner had 2 bowls, 1 with stewed pears and 1 with pieces of rabbit in a sauce ... well that was supposed to represent it, at least you don't eat your stomach full with it, everything went wrong with the after dish. of Christmas dinner! That was a disappointment!
Our impression: nice and tidy hotel and the breakfast was fine too, but I wouldn't dine there again.
Ghent was also great, but I had to say this!

Good hotel with extraordinary location. Modern and comfortable room, although the closet has no door. Normal buffet breakfast, except for smoked salmon

The location of the hotel is the best location you can get in Gent. The staff is friendly and the room was comfy and super clean.

The room was quite large. We had requested a quiet room and we were listened to.

Room looks nice, matrasses are not the best (presumably old - I could feel the bottom of the bed when turning around). In addition I personally hate synthetic stuff and warm rooms. The location is great, in the middle of Ghent. Don't use the restaurant cause there are way better restaurants very close to the hotel. Breakfast facilities are the usual and quite ok.

Been here for Christmas.

Pillows in the room hard. Breakfast was extremely little. Even the scrambled Egg (only warm option) was finished. Food in the evening on Christmas Eve also bar and bar bad. Soup was half lukewarm. The shrimp tasted like they were frozen and too little staff.

Really give it 1 star folks don't go here!

I had booked through Trivago and the booking agent was Zenhotels. Per luck I selected the wrong date (booking had to be fast on mobile). Then reservation was final. So I called the hotel that it was the same day instead of a few weeks later. A completely uninterested receptionist told me that he did not know Zenhotels and that I had to call Trivago (apparently you can't call that as a consumer). Didn't even want to cooperate to possibly change the date to that day ?! Anyway, I cannot judge the hotel itself, but if the reception does not show any customer-friendliness, as far as I am concerned, a company in the hopitality is ready in advance.

Rest point in the city. Lovely courtyard for an aperitif.

We went five years ago for a honeymoon and we liked it a lot. It is a hotel where the attention to the public is very good, oriented to children and you can find a lot of staff that speaks Spanish. The copious and delicious breakfasts. The rooms very clean!

Very satisfied, the hotel is very well placed. The staff members are attentive and very pleasant!

Great place with great staff. Only downside is parking. They have over 100 rooms but 25 parking spaces. Otherwise deserves 5 Stars

Novotel Gent, more specifically, I got to know the gourmet bar better about 2 years ago, every week I come there for lunch on Tuesday, all the time that I have been there I have to say that I have already eaten well every time for a very affordable price, 17.50 euros, you can sit down for a drink, soup, main course and coffee in a pleasant atmosphere both inside or outside, because yes there is a very pleasant terrace equipped with umbrellas, so you can still enjoy very sunny weather enjoyable eating outside. Of course you can also eat a la Carte, not expensive.
The toilets are kept very clean, which I always find important and you can still sit in the air-conditioned lunge after your meal, the restaurant also has air-conditioning, when it was so hot it was still pleasant inside. For enthusiasts, like me, you can ask for a ticket and have it stamped so that your 11 th lunch is completely free. Highly recommended also for people who have to continue with a pension.

Good front desk staff, hotel was located in a great spot in the city easily walkable to many spots, carrefour across the street for east snacks. Overall a great value for the money would definitely stay here again for thr price

Comfortable clean and well located for the city centre. The small outdoor swimming pool is great for cooling off when it's hot.

Beautiful historic location right in the center of Ghent. The facilities as a location for training courses are also top. A good cook in the kitchen and a friendly welcome.

Since the hotel was very busy and we came for breakfast at rush hour, it was already very messy. Good selection at breakfast. Hotel is very centrally located and requires 30 euros for the parking garage per 24 hours. More

Location is good . Design is nice . But service is poor. Waitress use hand to touch the bread in breakfast and I saw a rat on second floor the good thing is out side of window

Advantages nice and spacious room and spacious breakfast buffet. Cons water in bathroom or low pressure or cold. Early noise from street sweepers and adding water to fruit juice is also no waw

Good value for money balance. Breakfast was very good, friendly staff and above all a very good location.

The guy at the reception was a bit grumpy. We got charged breakfast after we checked out even though we specifically said we do not want it, so had to get that sorted out as well.

The hotel is centrally located in the old town. The building is old but comfortable as it is in good condition. The correspondence of the staff was also good.

Good hotel. Rooms and prices are reasonable. Stay there regularly and it's nice and central. Only two German TV channels, but that generally seems to be the case in Belgium.

Great hotel in the middle of the historic center of Ghent. Delicious lunch with very friendly service. The outdoor swimming pool came in handy during this hot weekend. The central air conditioners of some rooms did not work equally well everywhere, but cool enough to still sleep well. Parking directly below the hotel was very practical. Great beds and spacious rooms. A good breakfast buffet with lots of choice, but busy on Sunday morning. All together a great weekend!

The location of the hotel is excellent as it is located in the heart of the city center and the size of the rooms is good with the availability of air conditioning for the hotel, but the parking is one of the most expensive parking where the cost is 30 euros per day

Great hotel, right in the center. Nice rooms and it is quiet. We were there during the busy winter parties and you don't notice it inside. Nice and welcoming staff. Very good breakfast, highly recommended if you go to Ghent.
