Novant Neurology and Sleep has some of the best do...

Novant Neurology and Sleep has some of the best doctors. Doctor Gordon is a fantastic physician. On the first appointment, he spent about an hour to get an idea of the symptoms. He is VERY thorough. He listens to your issues and works with you to form a plan that is suitable for your needs. He also explains things in a way you can understand. His nurse is also very friendly and helpful.

Dr. Charles Gordon has literally given me my life back. While my migraines will never go away, they are pretty well controlled at this point. It would be hard to convey just what a positive impact his treatment has had on my life. He is undoubtedly one of the best physicians I've ever had.

Dr. Carrero was wonderful. I came in very nervous but his kind manner put me at ease. He took plenty of time with me and was patient to explain everything. The nursing staff and front desk were also very nice. I would definitely recommend this office to anyone.

As the stars indicate, this is a mediocre facility. If it weren't for the attention to detail I felt I received from Dr. Carraro, I'd give this place one star for the complete incompetency of the office staff.

My first experience, I called and spoke to the front desk person, then confirmed that yes, I would like to speak to a nurse to discuss what could possibly be charged later, since I was paying cash. I was informed three times that the amount would be X. I paid when I arrived. I stopped at the desk when I was finished, I had nothing owed. Nothing was done. Nothing was determined. No tests were ran. Next thing I know, I received a bill for almost $400 in the mail and Novant offered me no apology, no explanation, no offering of assistance as an uninsured person. I spoke to the billing department, yes.

When going back and forth with the office staff, good luck talking to someone who can actually handle business. After my second visit, the doctor told me someone would call me to schedule an appointment. Almost 6 weeks later, no call. I call, can't get through so I leave a message. Nobody calls back. I message through the system, nobody addresses the fact I need an appointment. I call again, this time I'm able to make an appointment...for three weeks out. So now it will have been almost ten weeks since my last visit.

The only reason I'm still giving this place any time of day is because I believe in Dr. Carraro and his ability to treat me, but dealing with the office staff is the most painful thing possible.

I just moved to the area so got a referral to continue my treatment of botox for migraines. It took my 2 1/2 months to get an appt then once I arrived to the appt I was told that I have to order the botox and have it sent to their office and they would send everything to insurance to get approved and call me. After 6 weeks and not hearing from them and not returning my emails or messages I called the office manager and someone called me back saying that my insurance would not cover me ordering the botox and that I needed to see a dr who ordered and administered the botox. It took 4 months for them to tell me this. This is something that I could have been told when I called to make the appt. Four months of horrible migraines that could have easily been avoided. Once they seen that they couldn't serve me (get money) they washed their hands of me and did not follow up. .

I was also given a RX for new meds. My meds got denied by insurance because the insurance needed a prior authorization. One month ago I sent two emails telling them I needed the prior authorization. The pharmacy told them 6 weeks ago. I sent an email a week ago to get the status of my prior authorization for meds but no reply. I left a phone message a few days later, no reply. Sent another message and Dr Donnelly responded saying that she would speak with Michelle. Still nothing from Michelle. I called again and this time got someone and Michelle relayed to them that she needed to put in a prior auth. What?? I requested it a month ago. I called the manager then about both issues and Michelle emailed me back saying that she tried to call my insurance but after 20 min she hung up and asked me for another number. Again, what? Why not message me back and ask for another number or Google it instead of waiting a month for me to call to inquire.
Two separate incidents but same issue of not caring about the patients health enough to send a follow up or respond to patients communications. As I said I am new to area and setting up consults and now I am totally turned off to Novant Health. Will be switching to another network. I don't need this type of patient care or lack there of. I also called the number of the office that is responding to other negative reviews on here to try and get more information prior to making a review however they also have not returned my phone call.

I accompanied a family member to an appointment with Dr. Shangula, and I was so pleased with the way she really explained things to my family member in detail, and in a way that was easy for someone to understand. My only gripe, is that there are not stairwells readily accessible to the public, but that is with the building and certainly not this practice. I feel very good about that visit. Thank you!
